According to Mireille Guiliano, French women are supposedly among the SLIMMEST in the Western World!

A French lady, Mirielle Guiliano (besides a writer she's also a business woman) wrote a book called "French women don't get fat" and she's actually critizicing American women in her book for not eating healthy and not working out enough!

Her book talks about how in France most women drink alot of water, they eat smaller portions of meat and they walk alot more (especially with France being a high tourism area) than American women. Her book is selling alot on Amazon.

So, I guess the good news for you guys who want to go to France is = more thin women = means better chances at finding attractive women!

Have any of you guys read Miss Guiliano's book? Have any of you guys traveled to France? (I've never been to France). If so, is it true?

The numbers back her up. France is only the 128th fattest nation on Earth. In Europe, only Romanians are thinner.

Obesity rates are leveling off throughout the developed world, so don't expect them to get much fatter either.

Yeah, they are way thinner. It is almost shocking.

I am hitting up this 33 year old French girl tutor (I don't think I am going to use her, I am going to use a fly 22 year old!) and I checked out her photos online.

Sure enough. The 33 year old is cute and super skinny (not in an unhealthy way).

Sure this is anecdotal, but you get my point.

If you want concrete Data, go to Paris or the beaches of France and you will see the same thing.

Most French girls are skinny, not because they diet, eat healthy and exercise, but because they are habitual smokers. Sorry, but smoker skinny is NOT attractive to me. A woman who is athletic and toned is.

In Argentina, it's the same way. The majority of women smoke their ass off, and then look like shit when they are 30. I've seen 30 yo women in Argentina who look 45, but hey, they are skinny - right?

I think it's a combination of genetics, smaller portions and walking.

French girls are athletic and toned. And delicate. Go to Biarritz in the summer and you will see.

French girls in my experience age well also.

But I am not a scientist so what do I know. Just going off personal experience.

My personal experience was that while French women were thinner, on average, than American women, they seemed to hit the wall harder sometime in their mid-thirties than American women did. What I mean is that it was harder for me to find legitimately attractive Parisian women in their mid-thirties and older, than it is in the US. Sure, the US has way more pigs, but there is still a noticeable contingent of middle-aged American women that are reasonably hot. I didn't see this in Paris.

I think the reason why it was so noticeable was because Parisian girls in their teens and twenties were SO MUCH HOTTER than American girls of the same age. There style was unmistakable. However, it seemed that once this chicks hit 35 they just collectively gave up and went the plain/frumpy route.

Respectfully disagree. Hooked up with a 40+ French after meeting her at a bar in Lyon and she had the most supple and tender C-cup breasts of any age woman that I've ever encountered. It wasn't just the sex though, it was her graceful nature that struck me. This experience and other similar ones led me to believe French women, old and young, are quite simply divine.

I was in paris approximately a year ago.

It took me 3 days to find a woman who was overweight, funnily enough in a store selling makeup. Not obese, just plump.

I saw roughly 20 obese women on the train ride into work this morning.

I have lost 40lb since that trip to Paris, it is there approach to food IMO. I have taken it on board and feel it is rsponsible for my weight loss.

Additionally about appearances, they do dress in a feminine manner. Even their equalivalents of K-mart have well crafted clothes, even if of dubious quality. But they aren't ballon t-shirts at all. there is nothing genetically better, but they do have a lifetime of healthy weight and a better mix of nutrients fromtheir diet.

Cafe culture versus car culture plays in to the diet as well. Instead of going to the supermarket and buying loads of groceries, they get up, stroll to a cafe, eat, walk back home (or somewhere else). They also have quite a few bicycles for rent around Paris. Standing in front of the Louvre on a Tuesday was the first time I ever saw a lady riding a bicycle in heels.

I'm curious - has anyone here met a french man or woman who did not know how to cook?

The reason I ask is that personal theory on why French and Italian women are thin is because they are forced to learn how to cook healthy meals from a young age. The reason this is not considered sexist is because so are French and Italian men. Cooking is simply part of who they are as a people. If you don't cook, you're not really French or Italian. Now, Madelleine may use her cooking skills to keep herself slender and her children healthy, and her brother Pierre will use his cooking skills to help him bed Madelleine's BFF exchange student friend Jennifer from Chicago, but that's another story.

It's like being Venezuelan or Colombian and not knowing how to dance - I'm not saying such people do not exist, but I've never met any.

Restaurant food is just bad for you, no matter what price range. It is full of simple carbs and saturated fat.

Many Europeans and South Americans smoke, but that alone doesn't keep you thin. It's a combination of diet, walking, biking, etc. As beta_plus touches on, people cook most of their meals, as opposed to buying fast/restaurant food or prepared foods that you microwave. Spanish men also do a bit of the cooking. One Spanish tradition is I believe Sunday Paella. All the men prepare it, while the women chill. Even if they don't become GREAT cooks, they still know how to handle themselves in the kitchen and will always be able to whip something up.
