Review of Medellin, Colombia - Shamrock - 01-31-2013
Went to Envigado yesterday to pick up some gym shoes with a forum member and another dude. It's extremely easy...The guy we were with tried to get the number of a girl with her aunts and she was feeling it. I don't even think it's that difficult...you just need at least basic Spanish. I think a week more of my lessons and I'll running a lot more day game. As other members have said many times over night game is extremely difficult here

Envigado? That's where I live. Nightlife is a LOT less polluted by gringos, and could be better for pickup, but don't even try to run solo there.

Just found this thread, a week after returning from Colombia.
It was great to hang out with Shamrock, Wedo and the other guys from the forum.
I met WEDO in Cali and then we went to Medellin. You can trust all he says about the situation in Colombia. He's been countless times and hooked up with A LOT of hot girls while we were there. The dude should seriously have a revolving door to his room. We were only there for only 5 nights and he banged at least 5 girls. Keep in mind that he does have Spanish fluency, a nice pad, isn't a douchebag and isn't going to cry about spending minimal money on a couple of drinks for a girl. So your mileage may vary depending on your situation.

yeah that $200 bar tab at Dry was pretty entertaining -especially since there were only 3 of us and the girl barely drank (and at 2pm on a weekday). Will let you know next time I'm heading down.

Alright ya'll, my overview of Medellin:
First of all, I want to say I had a BLAST there with all you guys I met on the forum. Much love and we got a good group of cats on here. We're all over the map, big ups to Roosh for hosting everyone here. Taking over the world one poosy paridise at a time!
So, a follow up on the girl. So nothing ever came with the girl I was chillin' with. We hung out but I just didn't escalate enough. I let that one get away. I just didn't play it very well. On top of that, she just didn't make it all that easy, she was a little timid. Either way, I can't blame it on that, I should have just went harder. BUT on the other hand, I hooked up my boy with the one I was saying was a 10. I knew it was going nowhere with the kid we originally swooped with, and she wasn't answering his calls, but my girl still seemed to be with it. So I text her one day and tell her, "Hey, we still gonna meet up tonight? I don't think Adam's gonna be able to come." She texts me back, "Ok, well I'm with _______ do you have a friend for her? Sure enough, I hit up Nacirema and he comes through! The girl loved him, and I have a good idea that he'll probably keep that one around. Not only is she banging but she's cool as hell. My girl has still messaged me every day since we last hung out.
Overall, I really had a blast in Medellin and think it's a great place. I would recommend spending a decent amount of time there. It takes a little while to break into the place. Being there a month, it really felt like I was just starting to get the hang of everything. I still needed another 2 months I think to fully be 100% satisfied with my results. But regardless, it was still awesome! Nacirema introduced me to a cat my last week there that showed us all around the city, the kid was a veteran. He new his shit and how to do Medellin. I wish I would have met him the first week I was there. Yes, there are a lot of horny gringo whore mongers there, but it's not too hard to set yourself apart. And yes, they do get annoying, but if you ask me the benefits far outweigh the costs.
I'll break everything down individually:
The Girls: Man these girls are SEXY! The average girl in Medellin is fuckable. Most are super nice as well. You'll run into a decent amount of girls that want shit from you, but you just have to know how to weed them out. It's easy to tell after you've been there a couple weeks. Some girls may ask you for taxi money to get home, but that's normal. That taxi ride will set them back a bunch but it will probably only be $5-10 for you. I was surprised at how nice these girls were. I didn't do too many day game approaches because of my situation, but a bunch of my friends did, and they almost never got shut down. The girls were almost always friendly and gave out their numbers, even to my weirdo Hungarian room mate! The only problem is, for every 10 numbers you may get 2 dates. So here it's really a numbers game. And gaming during the day is for sure the best time!
The Food: The food isn't bad, but it's not great. There are a bunch of places you can go all over town that have a COP$9.000 (About $5) or so meal which will usually include rice, salad, mini arepa, a your choice of meat, juice, and sometimes a soup. For dinner, a spot I liked to go to was called Lleras town. They had a great Pollo al Limon for $16 mil pesos (About $9) and it was a half chicken. There was an Italian place I liked to go to on the end of the top street on Lleras park, but I forgot the name, maybe Nacirema would be able to tell you. Overall, most of Lleras is pretty over priced unless you come before 7 and get the happy hour prices. If you do that, everything is priced well. Most the pizza I tried wasn't great. The burgers were even worse for the most part. I liked to stick with chicken for most meals. The steak was usually pretty average. I tried some picanha there and I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you've eaten it in Brazil.
Nightlife: Unfortunately, as has been stated many times in the forum, nightlife may not be the best place to meet girls. But that doesn't mean you still won't have a great time, and it also doesn't mean it's not possible, not at all in fact. I got a few make outs while out and about. And place like Babylon and Mr. Chupitos do have a good scene where there are lots of people dancing around and not all in mixed groups. For the most part though, when you go out, that's what you are going to see, is people seated in mixed groups. But if you're in a group yourself, grab a table and chill and try to intermingle with the people around you. I had a lot of fun just going out with my boys even when we weren't going out and pulling tail, or maybe we'd go out and try but be unsuccessful. But if you are looking to pull, go out in the day and invite a girl to go out with you at night.
Safety: Poblado for the most part is pretty safe. And I say that even though I was robbed there. Just don't take back streets too late like I did. And to be honest, it's probably just best to take a taxi home if you live more than a 5 minute walk away. Other parts of town can be pretty seedy though. The last day I was there we walked over to centro, and even in the day we were getting some pretty crazy looks from some mean looking people. A buddy took me over to Bello, that looked pretty hood as well, but we just chilled in the mall. Seemed like a great day game spot, just don't leave the mall. A lot of the population of Medellin lives in the populares, and there are populares in a lot of the city, so just keep your eyes peeled. When you get there you should be able to tell where you can and can't go.
Accommodation: You're best bet for a month or so stay is going to be Airbnb or compartoapto (Cheapest). Another good bet is to head down to somewhere like EAFIT or another university and check out the billboard to see what they have for rooms for rent. When I was EAFIT there were probably over 100 people looking to rent out rooms. The neighborhoods you probably want to be in are Poblado, Envigado, La Relas (spelling), Itagui, or mostly the neighborhoods on the south side of town. The north tends to be a bit more grimey
The City: Medellin is a nice city with good public transit. Staying in Poblado, you wouldn't even think you were in a third world country. The metro is super easy to take and costs about a buck. The busses are safe during the day, but you need to know where you're going. Either way, the metro will take you anywhere in town and you could take a cheap taxi to wherever you need to go from one of the metro stations. I definitely recommend taking the metro cable up to Parque Arvi. I hear there are some good waterfalls up there that we didn't have time to check out, but we did make it to a little Pueblito deeper into the mountains that was cool.
There it is fellas, my take on Medellin. I really liked it and plan on being back at some point, though I would like to check out some other parts of the country as well. Shamrock as a heads up look at who the group is there... its J Balvin. I've never been to Colombia and don't listen to Colombian music and I know who he is and like his stuff. He has a few videos with over 17 million hits on youtube. That's pretty damn popular for a latin American reggaeton artist not named Wisin y Yandel, Daddy Yankee or Don Omar. I think that would lead to strongly skewed crowd in that lots of top fight chicks there. That may not be the case normally.
It would be like me going to an Aventura concert in Miami and then the next day to see Pink Floyd. Which ones going to attract all the hotties...

Man I miss this place. I feel like I left too much unfinished business there. Haha! The girl I was trying to get with keeps hitting me up on messenger and she is also telling me I should come back. haha...get back dude! The girls are conservative and not quick to jump into bed...at least the normal ones with good families. Another trend that I've noticed here is that my level of horniness is through the roof. Even if I smashed 3 times the night before I still get morning wood and then get random boners all day. I think it's a combo of really pretty girls almost everywhere you go, great weather, and clean air.
I would not recommend Medellin for less than 2 weeks unless your Spanish is extremely tight and you're cool with day gaming a few hours everyday.

Great thread guys. Thanks for all the great info. You guys are getting me fired up. I'm going to Medellin around Memorial day with a bunch of guys. Some of whom have been there before. Half of us are gringos and half of us Latinos. This will be my first trip to Medellin and my second trip to Colombia. I was in Bogota and Cartagena about a year ago and I loved both. I hooked up in both cities by using Colombian Cupid so I plan on doing the same this time around. My Spanish was not too good last time around but this time it will be much improved but I gotta say I'm lacking in the conversational skills. I just purchased Spanishlikecrazy so hopefully it helps. I will only be there for a week and it sounds like It might be a little short. Regardless I should have a blast. And thanks again for all the info guys. Great stories.

I only know about one of the owners, Andrés Hernández. That's as Colombian as you can get. All the management under them is for sure Colombian.
