I need to check out Wax and Myst as I've heard a few reports from Taiwanese people that there are a lot less westerners there. Does this give a disadvantage though? the girls here might purposely want to avoid westerners (like they do at every club in Korea). Or does this give an advantage? Anyone else here with no Mandarin ability able to give an opinion on this?
Then again, the amount of westerners at Luxy probably isn't a problem, a sizeable amount of the westerners were in hoodies and shorts and were hanging around in packs of 3 or 4.
Here's your typical western guy here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wM8lBrM6TEU
I believe that if you don't speak Mandarin and you don't have a Taiwanese appearance, you have to massively compensate with peacocking to show DHV. This probably helps to set you apart from the stereotype of English teachers (even though there's some degree of truth in it)
Anyone out Wednesday, Friday or Saturday? PM me

The guy is apparently American but his caricature of a young Taiwanese male's accent is spot on. Even has a line about a Taiwanese guy's girlfriend getting chatted up at the bar.
The guy that made the video is pretty funny, and his caricature of Taiwanese male is of a gay guy, not a straight guy. I have not met a straight guy in Taiwan that talks like that.

haha, I had a similar thing happen at myst. Chatting w/this cute girl and she seemed *ahem* very obedient, but later found out she had a BF standing 2 ft away.

He sounds like a frustrated english teacher without any game. This forum has strong opinions on women, however his rant is even for this forum way too much.
There is no value provided on his site.

Hey man, I'm gonna be back in Taiwan next week I think. I'll be located in Hsinchu, pretty close to Taipei.
If you have Line or Weixin hit me up with PM and we can hang out in Taipei.

This is ludacruis. Tons of guys fly from hkg to tp to party. Chix are much hotter and easier than in hkg, plus as mentioned not as lippy as the shitty girls in hkg.

I've gotten blown out pretty readily in Myst.
One girl even screamed in my face that my Chinese sucked.
I've pulled from Luxy, though.
Your mileage may vary.

I hate Myst, I talk about it very unfavourably in the datasheet I'm preparing. Although, I want to go there one more time before I write up my sheet because my game has come on massively since that post.
Luxy is by far my favourite. I've had 4 ONS's from there in 8 outings. The girls are so much more open to foreigners in comparison to Myst and Lava.
Anyway, the datasheet will be up soon, when I stop procrastinating.
To stay in or go out tonight... hmmmm.....

Might just go Luxy every night I'm in Taipei next, though.

I went to room 18 and myst the last two nights. Good hardware and good number of pretty girls. Still there were 3x guys/girls. You need balls of steel to approach here. Many girls would just turn around and walk away from my opener or just pretend they do not speak English.
It was all mixed groups holding hands rushing through the club with tons of dudes lining the aisles.
Much harder than in the US without fluent Mandarin....
Has one cute 8.5 girl bite but her friend dragged her away before I could do much.
Gonna try Luxy next...

Hey I was wondering if anyone has been to Kaohsiung and can give me a quick synopsis of the nightlife/vibe? I decided to get a teaching job in Taiwan and I am trying to get a gauge on the cities too see which would be the best bet. I'll be out there by the beginning of December.

I skipped to the end, but I get fb posts from a club called space, and it looks good. Maybe next time I'm in country.

Kaohsiung
Kaohsiung is rougher, far more like Vietnam than Japan
certain downtown districts have massage parlors on every corner
edm = Lamp (not great)
hip hop = Dream (again not great), some great dancers here
both are next to big department stores downtown
foreigners hang out at a place called the lighthouse
a few of the foreigners were very nice, but many ran away from any white face they saw. their problem, not mine. my schedule wasn't very conductive to nightlife.
i'd move back in a second because there is a magic street with an Outback Steakhouse, a municipal film archive, bjj, and old-school, traditional judo and aikido dojos (a dying legacy of colonialism). also, i had the salary and status of a medical doctor there.
however, i'd say you'd be better off further North. i'd also say you may be better off in China as a teacher due to endemic low birthrates.

how much in $usd is a small studio, I just need the basics, clean and internet, no need for cooking stuff. How far would a $1000usd budget work over there. my needs are quite low, I been told that accommodation is usually the most expensive cost.
Thinking of heading over here for a few months after my stint in Oz.

depends on where u live. internet is cheap and easy. a lot of foreigners rent small roof apartments off of people, living illegally, but cheap.
1k sounds a little low. maybe if you got a really cheap apt, $300-$400/month. make sure you're a subway, and you'd be living like a local, eating low-end street food. the national health care is great US $3-$5 to visit the dentist.
is this traveling or living?

I hear Beijing and Shanghai are pretty expensive themselves these days, but I've been out of the game for a few years.
Shanghai was the home of the nationalist government which fled the mainland. They say it looks just like Taipei. I'm sure you're aware that your money will last longer in Taiwan than HK or Macao and longer in China than Taiwan.

Thanks for that man. Yeah I actually settled on farther north in Taichung. So far its been almost a month and a half and I can say that the nightlife is there but its not too strong, maybe I would like it to be a bit more happening. That being said the places I have been to are pretty fun. Vivo, and 18 have been good club nights with tons of sexy girls, quite approachable as well.
In terms of lifestyle, the public trans is kind of crappy with the MRT still being built, and the bus system not the most reliable. Just bought a scooter and I'd say its a must if you're looking to move here.
Housing is incredibly cheap as well, renters market, as well as food which imo is delicious
So far its been good, its been hard to get out though at first I think I'll have a very good overall picture in my mind of the city by summertime.

So taipei is a little more expensive than Bangkok, but totally a first world city in terms of order, sanitation, transportation, educated populace, etc?
Howd they do it on the cheap?
