Do you ever get hassled by the police when you are driving around Cali? The reason why I ask this is that a friend of mine who is American and who lives in Cali decided to stop owning a car and stop driving because he was continuously getting hassled by the police, who were looking for handouts. This guy I am referring is not some newbie or sex tourist. I would have to say that he is about the sharpest and most saavy American I have ever met overseas.

I really can't say that I was bothered by the police more than anyone else....I mean they are a bother because you always get stopped once or twice a month so they can check your registration and make sure you have your SOAT paid up...but I never had a problem with them asking for money...I did pay one off after a ran a red light. The traffic cameras are a pain but you can't pay them off you have to pay the ticket. If you get caught drinking and driving in Cali the fines are high....you lose your license for a year and they impound your car for a month and if you are lucky enough to find a cop that will take a bribe it will cost you a bunch....not much worst than getting caught drinking and driving and I don't mean being intoxicated....if you drink at all they will nail you.

You got it. Especially in Cali where the nightlife closing times are the closest thing I have seen in Latin America to the California Police State. When I make that statement, people always respond by saying that Juanchito has very favorable closing times. Juanchito is way off the beaten path if you are staying in a place like Ciudad Jardin and logistics would therefore be horrible. Throwing parties is the solution.

Menga has the same hours as Juanchito and the clubs are much nicer. Ciudad Jardin is a nice place to live but just to far south to put you close to the party scene in Cali.

I throw parties in a Club and then take women back to my place at the end of the night....throwing parties in my home with people I hardly know to expand my social circle isn't something that I'm comfortable doing....there are finca parties that you can get invited to after the clubs start to close....you usually get an invite if you have bunch of smoking hot chicks in your group....I have never gotten an invite if I was with just one chick....no matter how good looking she was.

Yes the age thing might be it. I'd say, simply based on appearances I look 19-20... I always tell them I'm 23 which is stretching it. So far I've had no problems with people wanting to use me for my money, its like they don't see it or its not important which I found strange...

Yes I could dress a bit older, what should I be looking for?

what else can I do?

I wouldn't try and look older....how about shooting for something a bit preppy....just don't wear a t-shirt and tennis shoes if you want to impress.

I really can't tell you what to do....but I can tell you that your experiences with Colombian women will depend entirely on who you are and what type of women you are hitting on....there is only so much you can do about how you come across to women....so if you aren't having luck.... start changing the type of women you are going after or at the very least change the venues where you are meeting them.

Do you mind breaking this down a little more?

Are you promoting a night?

Booking a DJ, taking a cut of the door, free tab you hooked up with the owner?

Owner of a club?

Hosting the VIP?

Booze promos?

Throwing parties for a biz, ie a salon, or restaurant etc?

Review of Medellin, Colombia - WestCoast - 03-05-2013

@ road less taken.

For what it's worth I actually recommend going to those grimey places if you are young because the girls are usually 18 in there. I was only in Colombia for about 2wks, but it was clear that the girls liked me a lot more in the 18 places (slightly lower class) because I also look very young. It was actualy easy to run night game, contrary to common posts on here for whatever that is worth. (Picked up flag w/ this method "life of party high energy young person style). Won't fly at the high end spots as well, need to come with eye candy IMHO.

I got minimal eye contact (relative basis) in the high end spots but 100% saw the potential when you look low thirties and well off. So that's pretty much the jist, there is a quick post on Cali on here I wrote up.

Basically, I had the same issue in the Meat packing district in NYC back when I was 21 as I did in Cali. No one thinks you're well off financially and of course telling them so won't work bc there is a 30 y/I to your right worth more and just as good looking so you're burned.

This is also why I advocate party hard, drinking hard night events for young or young looking guys. You will get blown out by the older gents (this is a general basis you can still pull it off but lower ROI when young).

Thanks for the advice West Coast.

Yes, I'm going to try to get a bit off the beaten path this weekend, and go out so we will see how things go.

Good luck man, if it is a large line + banging base music (shouldn't hear lyrics well) you're in a good spot.

Extremely high energy, take over the place.

High five random group of guys in the line who are having fun, grab beers, when you are walking in they split guys and girls. Immediately open all the girls walking in "que pasoo? (Wink)" in a fun/joking tone. If a girl smiles at you = yours to lose. Go dance with her, hopefully you can dance some Cumbia, side step switch hands to right spin, drop her hand, if she places it on your chest = game on. If she is shy, use her to grab another girl in the group. Rack up numbers.

You have to run extreme "I don't give a fuck" game in there.

Also FYI. If you want to go back to high end places, being a girl 100x better results (1:1 raio minimum), I had a girl with me at one of the nicer places Wedo showed me and it works. So if you decide to start rolling in packs talk to Wedo since he knows Colombia well.

Review of Medellin, Colombia - Big Nilla - 03-05-2013

Wedo, I envy you. Have it be known that I plan on hanging out with you in Cali sometime in the future!

G, let me help you with that.

The best thing you can do, is be the main promoter of a club. Since you run the party, and not the whole place, you get all the benefits and none of the hazards. Owning a club in most of Medellin is a job I would never take. You can also host the VIP, but result vary from place to place (you will have competition for that VIP on many nights. One time I saw coming in, people from this 4 trucks, black with full polarized windows, and they all had the same license plates. When this kind of people are not around, VIP is a good idea.)

Throwing parties for a biz is something I've never seen. Most of the owners are too damn greedy to even give a birthday cake.

So, in short, VIP and promoting are the way to do it. The party promoting line will open girls by itself, you would be set.

Have you done this?

If you haven't I was asking more for actually data, not just theory.

If you have, break it down a little more.

Not personally, sorry. My salary is shit and I don't have the connections.
I have friends who have done it, tho, so it's not really theory. Also, I've lived here for longer than anybody in this board, so I'm just telling you what I know.

What kind of data are you really looking for specifically? Club and owner's name? Prices ? Webpages where to pipeline and bring the parties up? Ways to network in Medellin?

First hand stories and experiences.

Which is why I originally asked WEDO.

@Volke

All of th above if you don't mind.

Industry I worked in my younger years in London and would be awesome to get a paisa's perspective on the behind- the-scene workings in Medellin.

Thanking you in advance

Review of Medellin, Colombia - Volk - 03-09-2013

I have been asking around for better info about that, because that's a world I am not very involved into. But if any of you know Barlovento, the bar In Medellin, I know the promoter and I will ask him soon enough.

Review of Medellin, Colombia - Purple Urkle - 03-11-2013

What, that's it? I've been reading this tele novela all morning and you leave me hangin' like this? Fuck. Internation(al) Playboy! Drop the old lady NOW and get your ass back to Medellin! I need my novela! What about that herb Hungarian "kid" in his 30's? How will he get his Colombian flag without your sage advice, fiercely honest friendship, and patient wingmanship? And what about the vomiting old lady? Where did she go? Is she alright? Did she ever get off the glue?

Jesus. Ecuador and sex with the X, huh? So this is how it ends? Damn. As Medellin Turns seemed just a tad more interesting and fun. Thanks for the memories!

Lmao. +1.

I would love hear a breakdown to WEDO when you have a moment. Have visited both Cali and Medellin. Loved them both, and have been in a depression, since! Haha Sad, but kinda true. Would love to relocate for months at a time. I had a really nice penthouse in Poblado, and freaking loved it!
I owned an apartment in Cali (barrio Granada) which I sold about five years ago and then I rented an apartment in La Flora for 2 years where
I lived with my girlfriend.

Ran a small business and my girlfriend worked for me....you really have to make sure you are almost madly in love with a chick before you let one move in with you or the opportunity costs of living with a chick will drive you nuts.....many more chicks make themselves available to you when you live in Colombia than would be otherwise.

Most entertainment revolves around socializing in one forum or another. So you really have to be a people person to get the most out of living in Colombia and really be able to make your own party.

A good friend of mine owns a finca on Lago Calima and we would often get a group together and head to the lake on long holiday weekends (and there are like 20 of them in a year). The lake is well know for wind surfing and you can rent all the equipment there....but just how much time can you spend on the water during a three day trip? You have to really click with Colombians in general and really really appreciate banging top notch pussy or Colombia will drive you crazy in the long run.

I have a friend that wants to rent a really big place with me in Cali and I was thinking that it might be fun (or not) to rent rooms to board members and other guys that have similar interests (hot Colombianas).
Thanks WEDO. I appreciate the feedback. Sorry man, hadn't been back on the forum lately, but your answer confirmed my thoughts. Need to get my money right here basically, and then just do 1-2 month trips. That's my plan. Was only in Cali for the feria de cali. Was a good time, but definitely need to revisit it. Went to a great restaurant. I think it translated to El Patio - but not directly? (maybe a similar name) Open air, courtyard style restaurant with live salsa band and dancers. Wasn't cheap...not crazy expensive either - but my point is, I'm guessing it's a top 10 restaurant for Cali. Took a smoking hot calena there, and then for cocktails on the top of the One hotel? Am I getting that right? That shit was straight out of scarface!

We had our own little couch off to the side looking over Cali, and it was a nice summer night. You could hear salsa music playing in all the barrios below, and across the city. I was in the best shape of my life at the time, and I had the same girl above all up on me kissing my neck etc, while I was cupping her ass. Her dress look painted on. Was one of a handful of moments in my life, where I was like "yeah...this shit - gimme more of this shit, please!" Magical country, and city. Hope to be back in a couple of months. Will certainly reach out to you if you're there.

Review of Medellin, Colombia - Volk - 03-16-2013

If we don't get any long-term peace agreement with the FARC, Cali will be hell on earth in less than 2 years. Valle del Cauca is the main battleground should things return to the way they were. Cali fans, keep your eyes open for the Havanna peace talks.

Review of Medellin, Colombia - Jesse33 - 03-17-2013

That's interesting Volk. I sure hope they can come to a meeting of the minds. With the progress the country has made, it would be really unfortunate for them to have a setback such as that. How about Medellin? Do you think it would be somewhat out of harm's way, or would there be some overlap there too. Not at all trying to turn this into a fear monger thing...but I know you add our board a unique perspective.

Medellin is very far away from the front lines. Just getting a small batallion to sneak all the way to this city is basically impossible, last time they tried to get close it took them a decade. We have our share of problems but the FARC isn't one.

Review of Medellin, Colombia - Jesse33 - 03-19-2013

Glad to hear that. Thanks for the reply.

Review of Medellin, Colombia - Travesty - 03-28-2015

Ok so I am planning to go to Medellin for 2 weeks sometimes next November. I went through this entire thread and bullet listed all the important points into a crib sheet. It is a bit messy and disoriented, but if you want to fly through the 11 pages this is the post to look at...

=========================================

* City and Lifestyle:
*
* GOING DEC.7 to FEB 7. is dead due to summer Colombia go to Cartagena...
* having a light rain jacket is good idea
* poor for short term visit great for long term visit
* temperature always low 80s in the day high 50s at night
* great scenery
* almost expensive as the U.S.
* hot girls
* friendly people
* good public transit
* mostly safe in El Poblado and Parque Lleras
*
* DO NOT FLASH WEALTH
* this includes no flashing smart phones
* be alert

* When shopping on the street, haggle they will gringo tax you
* June-July-August. Aim for the Flower Fair
* food is bad
* mugging can be common - be alert - 2 personal testimonies of being robbed at knife-point
* avoid other gringos in the vast majority of cases they will fuck your game
* it's probably just best to take a taxi home if you live more than a 5 minute walk away
* The neighborhoods you probably want to be in are Poblado, Envigado, La Relas (spelling), Itagui, or mostly the neighborhoods on the south side of town.
* what a fucking awesome place. It makes it hard to go to a place with mediocre girls and find one you want to bang.
* I would not recommend Medellin for less than 2 weeks unless your Spanish is extremely tight and you're cool with day gaming a few hours everyday.
* Here, with the right game, there is no place on the planet where as much quality tail can be locked down for so little money and effort (not talking about pay to play of course) as in Medellin, imo.
* When you come to Colombia you will notice that almost all guys date up and most women date down when it comes to looks.
* another point why most gringos don't have 10's....they don't have a really nice apartment of their own here and they are in Colombia weeks not months.
* you really have to make sure you are almost madly in love with a chick before you let one move in with you or the opportunity costs of living with a chick will drive you nuts.....many more chicks make themselves available to you when you live in Colombia than would be otherwise.
* You have to really click with Colombians in general and really really appreciate banging top notch pussy or Colombia will drive you crazy in the long run.

* It takes about 5 grand a month here to have the kind of social life that a guy taking home 20 grand a month would have to have in the states. Bought a brand new Mazda 3 in Cali and it got me much much more pussy than my BMW three series did in the states.
* You can keep it for a while, but the wrong kind of people will notice and they will know who you are. Almost all the big earners I know are 24/7 with armed bodyguards.
* Many exceedingly rich people have shit cars and dress like crap on the street because of this.

* Prices:

* $1 to 2558.50 pesos exchange rate and rising drastically as USD strengthens
* Cabs around town are $4-5
* Expensive drinks are $5 most are $2-4
* meals from grocery stores with steak $5-7
* Pizza at some courtyard could be $12
* Club covers can be up to $10

* Day:

* Go up the metrocables (locals scene)
* Go to a soccer match
* Jardin Botanico
* Universidad de Antioquia
* hit on girls at the malls
*
* Sante Fe and Oviedo mall in Poblado
* To the North of Poblado (12-2 and after 5 on weekdays bus stops btwn San Fernando to Oviedo)
*
* Rio Sur Lounge
* Mayorca in Sabaneta
* Premium Plaza
* Tesoro

* Join a gym, but they are very expensive
*
* forma in envigado and bodytech in premium plaza.
* There are bodytechs closer but they are more expensive and have less girls. Eafit, one of the more expensive universities also has a gym.
*
Bodytech near Parque Lleras. Around 10 am is also a great time to go there, for all the hot, rich housewives and daughters.

* Centro - lots of people walking around
* Dry (La Strata) in the middle of the day - happy hour bar
* "El Peñol" ... If that's the place, do it. It's an INCREDIBLE spot. If you go to Medellín and don't see it, you've made a mistake. A bit far from Poblado, need a driver to take you.
* Envigado and Sabaneta are good spots during the day

* Night (Mon-Wed are dead)
*
* YOU SHOULD BE GETTING STRONG EYE CONTACT IOIs OFF THE BAT IF NOT LEAVE THAT VENUE
* DO NOT ASK TAXI DRIVERS WHERE YOU SHOULD GO - THEY WILL TAKE YOU TO A WHORE HOUSE
* Clubs close 3-4AM
* DO NOT ACCEPT DRINKS FROM STRANGERS
* DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DRINK ALONE TO GET DOSED
* guys without women can get turned away often at clubs
* Areas:
*
* Parque Lleras
*
* Blue (blues bar)

* Poblado
* Barrio Colombia
* Calle 33
* Calle 70
*
* outdoor bars

* Calle 80
* Envigado? That's where I live. Nightlife is a LOT less polluted by gringos, and could be better for pickup, but don't even try to run solo there.

* Mr.Chopitos - no sitting down - good for gaming
*
* Chopitos Shots mini shot bar next door owned by same owners

* Blue - no seating
* Babylon - no seating
* Las Palmas - everyone is seated
* La Estrada - wont let you see inside, expensive $20, very local upper class scene
* Tiger Paw Hostel Bar - good happy hour
* Deja Vu up the hill is fun on the weekends and they are better at face control there.
* Rio Sur
* Parque Envigado

Friday and Saturday almost anywhere in Barrio Colombia or Lleras are packed. If i had to go out a certain day of the week, here are a list of places:

Monday - La oficina. A little bar on calle 10 near lleras. it literally has a sign of the Godfather on it.

Tuesday - Eslabon Perdido - Thats a salsa spot in the center. Nothing fancy but the only thing I know going on on a Tuesday. Here the girls that listen to old salsa usually are into rock and reggae as well, so they'll be more on the gringo hunter hippy side. It gets packed early and there is an 8 thousand peso cover.

Wednesday - I like to go out on dates on Tues or Wed, but if not, i'll stop by chupitos in lleras. it's a shot spot where for whatever reason has awesome looking girls there on Wed, Thurs, and Sundays, usually from 8 on. This isn't a given, its just sometimes. Avg shots are 5 thousand pesos, and the expensive ones are 12 thousand. It's free so never hurts to just check out. Later on B lounge is the only spot that ever gets packed. Its further up on ten, i think cra 34 or 35, not sure. its near tiger paw hostel. Thats 20k to get in, but there's some talent there. Usually a mix of prepago/trifling looking girls, but you're on vacation, so it's all good.

Thursday - Babylon used to be my spot. It died down but I went there recently and had a good time. Gets packed early. Its located in Lleras around the corner from Tropical Cocktail. It's 30k open bar for guys and 12k for girls. If in a group you can literally spend 70k pesos and roll in with three girls and drink all night, well technically till 1. If you go by yourself its all good, you'll find lots of bangable 6s - 8s . Most of the time they're in groups, but sometimes they do roll in just girl groups. I personally prefer to go out with girls, because it allows me to mix with other groups, and worse comes to worse I have backup.

Friday and Saturday - Anywhere. Barrio Colombia is fickle but probably best on a Saturday night. Lleras is full of small clubs, but the shot spots get packed. In the early afternoon like around 5 sometimes people go to Thaico. You can pick up in there.

Sunday Nights - They used to be awesome in Barrio Colombia but not too sure anymore. Luxury is a good failsafe spot. Usually full of prepagoish/trifling girls. With time you'll understand what I mean.

Other notes - Clubs close from 3-4 in Medellin. There are three main after hour spot areas. Palmahia is a huge club in itagui on the regional. Outside it has about 5-6 small lounges/clubs. it used to be the main spot but I believe it's died down.

Fahrenheit is a bit further down. It's a huge club that after 4 becomes prepaid girl heaven. Its about 20-30k to get in. If you go before 1 its usually open bar and you can meet somewhat attractive girls. The really hot ones come in late, but they're definitely not by themselves and a large part will try to charge you, especially if you look foreign.
The third spot is VIP, but don't go there. it can get really hood.

Almost forgot, there's a section called 33. On Thursdays and Sundays, many spots are open bar for ladies, so lots of girls. Lots of 5s and 6s in my opinion. Those spots you should be more careful. The establishment will try to charge you more for liquor and bitches will try to put something in your drink to rob you. Having said that, there is still opportunity to have a good time.

*
* English is almost non-existent, have basic Spanish at least
* Phrases:
*
* -Que mas pues or hola que mas? To which you respond 'Bien o no? Thats pretty much an informal way of saying whats up. Some girls will address you with Que Mas, just so you know that's just another way of saying hola.
* -Sometimes they'll ask you 'Si Estas Amañado?'. Taxi guys ask that a lot, since it'll probably be obvious you're not from here. They're just asking if you like the city. Just say Si.

* Girls:
*
* Loses quality compared as far as Latin girls go only slightly to Miami, and small parts of Brazil
* age of consent is 16
* compared to the U.S. the girls' quality is bumped 1.0-1.5 points for how common they are... ex) Colombian 6 = American 7.0-7.5
* Upper strata girls care are extremely hard to crack as they are expected by family to date a Paisa man.

*
* give # out easily

* Fuck the flaky girls, the most annoying thing in Colombia is the leach ass gringos who ruin it for everyone and make these girls flaky. I don't blame them one bit.
* It's honestly not so hard to meet girls here, but all the bullshit that comes with it just isn't worth it. Do yourself a favor and go to Brazil...
* Some girls may ask you for taxi money to get home, but that's normal.
* if you are looking to pull, go out in the day and invite a girl to go out with you at night.
* I prefer very thin women with a beautiful face.....think Victorias Secret models vs. Chicas Car Audio models. The difference between the muscular well endowed women that Colombianos prefer to what I
consider a 10 gives me my niche advantage here in Colombia.
* always felt like I was being ignored when I returned to the States because Colombia women are usually very good with eye contact.

Review of Medellin, Colombia - scotian - 03-28-2015

Some of the information listed isn't accurate in my opinion:
* GOING DEC.7 to FEB 7. is dead due to summer Colombia go to Cartagena: Not true, actually Medellin is very nice during December with the alumbrados (Xmas lights), there are a lot of people home from away and spending money, the city is lively. Its not a great place to be for New Years Eve, I would go to the coast for that.

* this includes no flashing smart phones You can use your smart phone basically anywhere, just don't be stupid about it and walk down the street texting at 3am. Colombians all have late model smart phones and use them everywhere.

* almost expensive as the U.S: I can' think of anything that a short term traveler would be spending money on that's as expensive as the US, maybe some booze, see below.

* Expensive drinks are $5 most are $2-4: Cocktails in most bars and lounges will cost about 18.000-24.000, some places in Parque Lleras offer 2X1 deals until 7pm.

I won't comment about nightlife as I"m not an expert on it and I like to hang out in more chill areas but most of the list is solid information from what I can tell, have a fun trip to Medellin.

Adding to Scotian's inaccuracies list:

Carrefour no longer exists to my knowledge, but some Colombians still call department/grocery stores that, which can and has caused me some confusion.

I don't think food is bad; it's pretty decent. It's just soup, salad, a piece of meat, rice, beans, and plantain. How hard is that to mess up? It's usually fresh and decent quality.

I think "Las Relas" is supposed to be Laureles in the good neighborhood section.

Dry in La Strada doesn't exist anymore.

Blue is not a blues bar, it's a rock bar.
Babylon has lots of seating

Cell phones see my post here: http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-1299-p...#pid989030

Oviedo mall has a bunch of overpriced fast food. There's nothing really cheap around there.
