Out of my entire collection, this is the watch that the ladies go absolutely crazy about. It's unbelievable the amount of wows and compliments I receive! No other watch in my collection, which includes widely known brands too (Rolex, Patek etc.), gets this level of attention - nothing comes even close. lol
I put a NATO strap on it, because it's more comfortable, looks better, and adds even more personality to it.
Alain Silberstein Krono Bauhaus. (Cellphone pic, sorry about the quality)

I think this looked cool so I wanted to pick it up. I googled the name you wrote and thought it'd be 100 bucks or less since it looks about that much. But its 5000!!!! What!?

lol yeah it is pricey. But don't be fooled by its toy-ish looks, it's a very sophisticated, well built, and sturdy watch.
On the opposite end of the price segment, I own a Seiko Solar Chronograph (SSC031/021), which I absolutely love. I even bought two of them: one with a Pepsi bezel, and a plain black bezel. You could get a bunch of NATO straps in different colors for them to match your outfit. It has a strong Rolex/Breitling vibe to it, looks way more expensive than it is, and the quality is top notch. This watch is fantastic, and worth every penny IMO, highly recommend it!

I always liked those Silbersteins. It could be a great weekend watch. That and Muller's Crazy Hours.
I haven't seen anybody mention Cartier yet. Women love that brand. You can find a Santos 100 for about $3500. I personally would pick that over Omega.

All these watches are lovely; I'm a watch guy.
However, I've said this before and will probably say it again…men buy watches for themselves and other men to appreciate.
Women don't give a fuck about them.

^ I think that is true ninety percent of the time. Upper class women might be an exception. They may be familiar with the best watch brands, because they may have owned some of them themselves -- or given them as gifts. Or, they could have owned mostly designer watch crap -- and have no clue.
As much as it pains me to say, many women will notice a Rolex, because of its marketing strategy and its ubiquitous presence at the high-end market. Rolex manufactures more watches in a year than Patek Philippe has produced in its nearly 200 year existence.
If your number one goal in the life is the quest of poon and you have limited resources, then buy a high-quality Rolex replica. Be sure that it is high quality, otherwise you will look like an idiot to those who know. I would never wear a replica myself, but other people have different goals. If slaying women is your number one goal in life, then that is probably the way to go.
If you want to wear a watch as a chick magnet you have several options: (1) game high-end women who may notice, (2) wear a watch marketed by a designer who women know, (3) wear a Rolex, (4) wear a high quality Rolex replica, or (5) wear a watch that is so outlandish -- while still retaining a high level of good taste -- that almost anyone would notice it.

Maybe.
I have a rolex.
I don't think I've ever known a woman notice or comment on it. I've had more comments on my white G shock than the Rolex!!
This is especially true since the rise of gold coloured fashion watches…most people wouldn't recognise a real gold watch under any circumstances.

I can't understand why someone would buy a $20,000 watch unless they had more money than they can spend. I have a Rolex that was given to me and I can't recall anyone ever commenting on it. Waste of money if you ask me. My Esquire looks far better than my Rolex if you ask me and has a fraction of the value.

For the same reason that a man appreciates a finely made, highly tuned sports car that costs far more than average transportation -- or appreciates wearing high quality finely-crafted tailored clothing made from superior fabric rather than simply buying low quality stuff at Mal-wart.
Don't get me wrong, IMO there is a right way and a wrong way to buy all three of those things. Buying them new is not the way.
I can step out wearing designer clothing that cost $1,500 retail, for which I paid less than a tenth of that price. I can wear a pre-owned watch for which I paid $5,000, wear it for five years, and then sell it for even more. I bought a year-old car at an auction. I drove it for three years before it depreciated to the price that I paid for it. If you can use an expensive item for years at low cost (clothes), no cost (car), or even by making a profit (watch), then why not do it?
Hell, I just bought a brand new $400 sports jacket on ebay for $40. It cost me more to get it custom tailored for a perfect fit ($60) than I paid for the jacket itself. It is all about thinking outside the box and casting aside the herd mentality. In other words, thinking like a renaissance man and behaving like a true player at life.

As far as watches most chicks in your age bracket probably don't know anything besides rolex, movado and maybe tag. Sure they may say cool looking watch but won't convey baller status necessarily. I been really looking at that Rolex Daytona with the brown bezel and teal face, I think its some kind of racing winner watch I dont really keep up with watches. I like it for the look as much as anything else but it's like a 60k+ watch so anyone who knwos what it is will doubt its real.
I also question whether its cool or not to buy something like that. Part of me says yeah, its just a tool for picking up chicks but at teh same time I laugh at hte idea someone would pay $500 to have a black visa card that has no status aside from the fact you paid $500 for a run of the mill CC that happens to be black. Buying a replica watch strikes me as kinda hypocritial if I would poke fun at the black visa card. I still kinda wanna get one though lol. Do you recommend that side had in the post if I were to look into gettting one?

*Random anonymous comment/observation whilst I'm wasting time reading a thread*
I bought myself a Rolex for my 30th birthday. Rolex has its haters, but for me it was a family thing.
* If you think a watch "gets it wet", your mistaken, or playing with the wrong girl. Unless you're playing short term game on a gold digger.
* My watch is now, finally worth more than I paid for it. I'd bought a fair number of watches from cheap Swatches to £500'ish fashion brand watches, they all lost money, the Rolex hasn't.
* Buy what you fancy. It only has to tell the time. Anything else is vanity.

Seikos in general are good watches at an affordable price. Their price/value ratio is favorable
But I were in the market for a dive style watch like that Seiko I would go with a Steinhart, which is a bit less expensive and to me looks better. They have a nice selection of divers.
Examples:

Tail Gunner - 08-30-2014
I am not sure why everyone likes divers and chronographs. They add a great deal of unnecessary weight to the wrist. They are huge, heavy, and bulbous.
My guess is that the guys on this forum like their watches to match their women.
Chronographs must be large to contain their over-sized movements, which is really two movements in one -- one sitting atop the other. A diver's watch must be large so that diver's can read the time underwater. Unless you are a diver, do you really need that feature? I suppose that if you drink enough beer during the course of a night, it can be very similar to trying to read a watch under water. So, perhaps that works for you.
I like my watches to match my women: sleek, elegant, and sexy. A few examples of watches that I have owned (excuse my homemade photographs, which are not even close to professional):
There is a great amount of detail on these watches that you will miss unless you are an avid watch collector. Pay attention to the lugs, bezels, dials, hands, and minute markers. For example, did you notice that the first watch does not have a crown! So then, how do you set the time?

Great pieces you have there, Tail Gunner!
As a fellow Calatrava owner, I agree that the level of craftsmanship on them is unparallelled. Not often do I wear it, because it doesn't quite match my usual outfit, but when I do, I'm still amazed at its sheer quality and beauty!

Some guys have large wrists…for instance an original day date/datejust looks silly small on my wrists.
I don't own a diver but my giant G shock looks better on my wrist size wise than my DJ2.

Like with pleats, cuffed pants and wide lapels lately, you can bet smaller sizes will make a comeback. Especially for work, if you doing anything other than live in the water.

I am not a big fan of the newer divers, but I find 40 mm a good size for a "tool watch". I bang the "heck" out of my watches (and I do not get them polished out when I have an overall- I like character of a watch that I have "owned" and marked.
I think that if you are a rolex fan, then the must have watch is either the Sub or the Daytona. Personally, I like watches that suit my lifestyle which is fairly active. I prefer stainless steel because I am not a "bling" type person. My low key watch is a Datejust on a jubilee, my sports watch is a sub date, my travel watch is an explorer 2 because of the GMT function (had I not had a sub, I would have gotten the GMT but I find them too similar in appearance) and a small faced (34 mm) is an Oyster Perpetual No-Date. I also have a few other niffty watches about but these are my main rotation. At one point I considered a Patek, and to my regret I did not buy it.
I did also consider a daytona (I find the face too busy) and a two tone sub with emerald numbering- It was gorgeous, a bit heavy, but not really a tool watch so I gave it a miss.
I have never been attracted to the Bling watches.
BTW, for most rolex haters of really blingy watches that look tacky, you are probably looking at "Frankenwatches" in which an old rolex case and movement is used and the bezel and and face are replaced with horrid looking low grade diamonds and other glittery things. Most genuine rolexes you will see are fairly tasteful (assuming that you like the basic look of a rolex).
That being said, men notice watches, not women. Buy a watch because you like it.

The issue becomes remaining congruent. If you wear a Rolex and you take her home to a dinky apartment in your 20 year old car, then something is off and she'll know it.

IMO, that is the one good reason to buy a large watch. But that reason does not apply to most men. I have a problem not only with the huge diameter of many modern watches, but especially with their clunky height which results in a chunky appearance.
It is actually funny to open some of these watches and to see the comparatively tiny movement inside a massive case. The increasing size of watches is an outgrowth of our super-size-me over-the-top culture.

This one has always been a good conversation starter. It's most probably pretty cheap, but it looks quite weird at first glance with the whole numbers transparent dial turning on itself every second (hours and minutes hands are standard). I often have people asking about it or girls grabbing my hand to look at it closely. Of course a watch will never get me laid but if people notice it's just an easy way to get in a convo since it was a gift from my awesome roommates when I left Melbourne, Aus, it's a very easy launch into my international life, travelling, etc. It also looks just right on me being much smaller than most watches (I'm a small guy) and doesn't grab attention by it's size and flashiness.
