Some background. I'm fairly new to the "fitness" scene. I started Crossfit almost a year ago and saw some good gains, but after taking a break because of bronchitis, I decided to try another gym and focus more on strength rather than the heavy cardio of Crossfit (issues with my heart, I can't get enough oxygen for a lot of Crossfit routines).
Since I'm an older guy and I am sure my testosterone is on the low side, I asked my trainer for recommendations for a doctor that will do the detailed testing and evaluations of where I am and what micronutrients I should look at supplementing. He recommended a "Holistic" doctor that his wife has seen who actually digs into test results instead of giving the "within normal range" answer.
So, I contacted the doctor and she suggests not only the detailed blood tests, but also genetic testing and told me it will cost about $1K. Given what I have been paying for the mediocre health care I've been getting, it's not a scary amount of money.
Any thoughts?
