Coinbase just credited BCH, how the hell is the price at $8500? Looking online it says the price is just over 3k.

On Bittrex Bitcoin Cash (BCC) is currently being traded at $3400. Is BCC not the same as BCH ?

If yes one can buy, transfer to coinbase and sell ?

Coinbase/GDAX disabled Bitcoin Cash trading. Very embarrassing and making me question the motives and viability of Coinbase long term

I believe Bitcoin Cash goes both by BCC and BCH. Theoretically, you should be able to sell on Coinbase, but it will come down from it's $8500 price.

I don't understand why they keep adding hundreds of thousands of customers when they can't serve existing ones properly.

Bitcoin Cash BCC price is dropping on Bittrex , down to $ 3150. This should be going in the other direction, Anybody knows why this is ? Buy it or not on Bittrex ?

I arbitraged the shit out of that window. Sent my bittrex BCC to the BCH account in coinbase and literally made free money.

But then it all went back down to earth.

I wouldn't be surprised if Coinbase gets some SEC complaints tomorrow.

Aer, how were you able to sell? Coinbase allowed people to buy for a short time frame, but no one could sell. Now both buys and sells are disabled.

It was all smoke and mirrors. My withdrawal from Bittrex to Coinbase went through.

I'll give the rundown of what I did and what I plan on doing for the next Coinbase release.

Let's say you have .1 Bitcoin Cash on Bittrex which is worth $350 USD ($3500BCH price).

And then you send it to Coinbase (same amount, .1BCH) where the price there was $8500 for like 40min. .1BCH now went from $350 to $850. You immediately gain $500 merely from transferring platforms.

However, I was too late on the BCH withdrawal from my Coinbase account.

Whatever at least I learned my lesson that I have to move like lightning.

So you actually weren’t able to sell or withdraw it?

Coinbase was saying it was 8200 per BCH but the price was stale. The sells were disabled and they still are as of this writing (where BCH price has been adjusted back down to 3100ish) So, I doubt anyone sold at the 8200 price and took advantage of that "arbitrage"

The addition of BCH to CB today was a surprise. it was not announced in advance and no one knew. The last CB talked of adding BCH earlier this year was something to the effect of them saying "we'll be adding it sometime after Jan. 1" Today was a total surprise, there was no way to know in advance.

Could it be that Coinbase was working on the BCH wallets and accidentally enabled trading too early? If that's the case, they royally fucked up.

So whatever coin Coinbase adds will automatically quadruple. It would be very nice to have advance notice of what gets added.

Is there a way to learn that beforehand? Some people say it's possible, some people say it's not unless you got insider info.

Unless you work for CB, there's no way. Even then, CB states that they disallow employees from trading any of the new coins for a certain amount of time.

^Although, one can postulate on what the next crypto they would offer would be.

The simple strategy would just be to buy whatever the largest market cap coin is, that is currently not on Coinbase. That coin already has relatively ample, pre-established liquidity that Coinbase will want to snatch/capture a slice of.

The entire process reeks of shady behind the scenes dealings. Think about this: who has the most to benefit from this "surprise" announcement? The consumers and users of the platform? Certainly not considering the platform crashed and halted trading in BCH. This reeks of insider trading or the like, knowing the price would run up in a short amount of time. I think we need to start looking to alternatives to Coinbase now, if anyone has any suggestions

I think it's the other way around, everyone knew BCH was coming to coinbase by the end of the year. Here was coinbase's official statement

"We are planning to have support for bitcoin cash by January 1, 2018, assuming no additional risks emerge during that time."

If anything, coinbase dragged their feet for as long as they could until the end of December, and gave everyone 4 months notice that they would be adding it and to prepare for the price run-up. The smart money bought BCH the last 2 months and has been HODLing for today, to drop it on coinbase and make a profit.

Coinbase won't make that mistake again for any new coins coming in the new year.

Good luck withdrawing cash from coin base, they have all the alts priced in such a way that you actually lose money on the trade if you try to arb into another crypto or fiat to crypto, they are the equivalent of the carnie stand in the crypto marketplace. Looks too good to be true, cause it actually is.

"They" Like coin base is actually setting a price on alt coins?

arb = arbitrage?

The market will readjust it self when a chance of arbitrage occurs. Cause there are people / bots actively watching for arbitrage to take advantage of it.
