Testosterone gel?

It's a form of TRT prescribed by my Dr. I'm going into my 3rd month now.
Have you noticed the increase in energy, sex drive and assertiveness? The guys that I know on the TRT gel tell me the first thing they noticed was being horny all the time, recovering faster from workouts, and having more overall energy-they said after roughly a month it was a very pronounced change. I am not on TRT but I am going to start on my 50th birthday.

For me, the differences have been much more subtle. Morning and random erections were the first noticeable difference and I'll admit that was pretty pronounced. Horniness was more of an inclined improvement. I never really lifted prior to the treatment so I can't speak on recovery. The disappearing belly has been the best effect. When I got tested my T levels were at 302. I'm not sure where they are now until I get tested again.

You'll notice a difference if you were deficient before.

If you were already producing adequate T and you get on it, you'll just create a dependancy that wasn't there before.

The older guys at Equinox all say that the fat on their stomach just evaporated when they started TRT, and these are dudes who have been working out for years and still held "old man weight" as we called it. TRT seems very appealing.....

Weight Training Routine for Beginners?

It been 8 weeks on StrongLift 5x5 and IF. Had my first two failures doing Overhead Press and have had to take longer intervals between sets of squats. Simply put, the shit is getting harder, lol. It's all good though, I can feel myself getting stronger and can feel that burn on my off days. My goal is to complete at least 8 months of the Stronglift 5x5 and hopefully move on to Madcow or Texas Method. Weight has been fluctuating but I know this can be anything from excess bowel to water-weight, however I'm not sure how muscle gain can/has affected me.

Squats
Deadlifts
Rows
Overhead press
Bench press
Pull-ups
Push-ups
Dips

Do each of these twice a week. Start with low weight and make sure your form is good. Alternate with dumbells sometimes to mix it up. Anything beyond that is gravy so add an isolation exercise or two at the end of the workout if you want.

I would drop that Stronglift5x5 program and the keto diet. Losing weight is all about being in a caloric deficit regardless of the type of diet, you're just making it harder on yourself.

Living with almost no carbs is very hard to sustain and is not the most enjoyable way of losing weight.

^ If a true keto diet is too hard then low carb is a good option.

Low carb diets have been proven to reduce testosterone.

I have tried steak and eggs diet and also tried low carbs. I did lose fat faster since these kinds of diets really kill the appetite thus reducing my total calories per day. However, my sex drive dropped (I'm 26) and to be honest I couldn't enjoy it at all.

If you're having problems, just be in a calorie deficit with sufficient protein and you will lose fat. Most importantly lift heavy and find a program that focuses more on upper body to obtain that V-shape instead of squats

Wow, I never knew this. I've been on this low Carb diet for over a year now. I've had great success with it in the past but never had reason to get my T tested.
I've been thinking about switching to the 5-2 Intermittent Fasting regimen and getting off the Keto diet.

I would demand a high level of proof for that statement before believing it.

And intermittent fasting and keto are not mutually exclusive--Keto Clarity explains how to do intermittent fasting. He recommends a ketogenic diet, though he doesn't call it that. Edit: actually he does call it that.

If testosterone is an issue and you want to raise your levels, here's an Art of Manliness guide to raising testosterone levels naturally. He used a low-carb diet.

As for stronglifts, I have a friend who is 50 who started it 2 months ago. I knew him in college and he has more muscle than at any time in his life. He's lost about 4 inches at the waist. He's self employed so his schedule facilitiates hitting the gym, but his progress in 2 months was amazing and this is a guy who never lifted and is 50 years old.

Down another 5lbs.

5x5 Stronglifts is getting hard AF! I feel the burn much more now than ever before and I'm struggling. Is this normal, should back down a bit?

5x5 is great if you stick the program. I use chains with my weights.
Plateaus aren't as frustrating because you're still lifting heavier than the average bodybuilder.

That's what Arnold did before body building. You'll build a leaner more athletic and functionally stronger body. Instead of some meat head douche who can't swing a baseball bat. These guys get the weirdo chicks.

Sounds normal, but 5X5 is supposed to get like this a few weeks in. Usually you start 10-20+ lbs. under your 5x5 max so you get ramp up time and your body gets used ti lifting weights, and avoid stalling immediately.

Are you eating correctly and sleeping too? If you are ramping up on 5x5 you can't be drinking all the time, eating trash and staying up late. Well, you can, but it's gonna make progress that much harder.

Make sure you're getting enough protein, but it's good to hear there's progress.

Worse case scenario if you're wearing yourself out too soon, you can just go down weight and up reps until you can get the weights back up go par

You are not recovering quickly enough from your workouts, that's what that pain is.

It probably also means that you are now past the beginner's phase, and should now look into an intermediate level program. That is, after you've exhausted all the usual remedies--food intake increase, re-starts, etc.

You need to be in the gym 7 days a week. For 3 weeks one week off. 3 to 4 days weight training 2 or 3 days running FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
If you're serious of losing 130 pounds this is the discipline you need to cultivate.
Or, you'll stall.

Cut your volume down to 3x5, and when you stall with that, go to 3x3. Milk the LP as long as you can.

I think that's what I'd call an isometric. I know what you're talking about. I've done that with the squat just to get the feel of a heavier weight on my back.

This is strictly a Central Nervous System Exercise.
If you are having trouble getting through 5x5. It's a CNS issue.
