Four cities in 1 month and a quick comparison. Bucharest, Riga, Kaunas, St.Petersburg

In a period of 4 weeks I have visited these four cities: Bucharest, Riga, Kaunas and St.Petersburg.

While the memories are still fresh, I would like to make a brief comparison by making top charts in different categories.

I wrote a complete datasheet on Bucharest

Girls looks:
1. St. Petersburg (Russian beauty at its best)
2. Shared by Kaunas (long legs, long hair, tight jeans) and Bucharest (curvier)
3. Riga (tall and manly)

Girls friendliness and enjoyment of dating process:
1. Bucharest (pleasant and chillaxed)
2. St. Petersburg (joyful and smart)
3. Riga (intellegent but cold)
4. Kaunas (I just don't seem to understand Lithuanian girls)

Concentration of daygame targets in a city center:
1. Kaunas (wherever you look they are there)
2. St. Petersburg (a lot of targets in the malls)
3. Bucharest (try metro)
4. Riga (they are not there)

Food:
1. Bucharest (amazingly fresh and tasty vegetables and fruits, and water-mellons worth dying for.
2. Riga (really good if you are willing to pay)
3. St. Petersburg, Kaunas (both OK)

Architecture:
1. St. Petersburg (several amazing monuments and bridges)
2. Riga (good ansamble, old city is as immersion in medieval world)
3. Bucharest (slighly worn but different)
4. Kaunas (nice, but small)

Prices:
1. Bucharest (really friendly prices on all, accommodation, food and drinks)
2. St. Petersburg (with a ruble being low, prices are very good at the moment)
3. Kaunas (similar to St. Petersburg, but too high for a small city)
4. Riga (unreasonably high prices in some instances more expensive than Western Europe)

Weather:
1. Bucharest (great weather)
2. The rest have very similar Baltic sea weather (not good)

Nightlife:
1. St. Petersburg (really liked Rubensteina bar strip)
2. Kaunas (student city, a lot of bars, also nicely concentrated)
3. Riga (good nighlife in city center)
4. Bucharest (Too loud, big groups - consider doing guttergame)

Sex tourist presence:
1. St. Petersburg (have not seen any to be honest, Russian visa is stopping many)
2. Kaunas (few people speaking English here and there but overaly not bad)
3. Riga (groups of 5-10 guys here and there, wandering the streets)
4. Bucharest (girls are suspicious and ask a lot of questions)

I agree on most of your points, except:

Bucharest women more beautiful in general than Riga women?? Impossible.

Riga's food seemed expensive to you because you probably stayed in its over-touristy city-center, but the city is big and has quite cheap prices for food (by European standards), outside of its medieval center.

I found Riga as expensive as London but without any guarantee on quality. It reminded me of a bigger version of Leicester Square, a kind of soulless tourist hell.

Which was your favourite city ?

I look somewhat Hispanic although I am from Eastern Europe. Girls in Romania thought I was Italian.
6.3 average build, fit but that is not to be seen in clothing. I would say I look above average generally.
I speak 4 languages. But those relevant would be English and Russian.

Yep, Riga unreasonably expensive. Scandinavian prices for EE quality. There is still soul in the city, but it is not worth it pussy wise.
I would say my favorite was St. Petersburg, for the quality of women.

@Going strong: Yes, I found girls in Bucharest to be more attractive. I do tend to like brunettes more than blondes these days so I might be slightly biased.
Riga used to be much better for quality of girls. It seems to get worse exponentially. Due to girls in sexually active age leaving to the west by the thousands.

Speaking of prices I compare city center and old city center prices. In all 4 cities.

Vinny, nice report, just 3 question to you:
1) How you distinguish Slavic (Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian) girls from Latvian girls in Riga? It seems that it's very hard deal, since both ethnicities speak Russian mostly...
2) Do ethnic Latvian girls have accent when they speak Russian?
3) If you compare girls' look in Riga with cities in the Netherlands and Estonia, which is gonna win? If some city in the Netherlands or Estonia, please specify.

Latvian Latvians speak Latvian. That is a funny sentence.
In Riga 55% of population are Russian-Ukrainian-Belorussian-Polish-Latvian mix who speak Russian as the first language.

Ethnic Latvians have Latvian accent. Younger girls sometimes don't speak Russian at all. They can also shun you for speaking Russian. I would say if Ethnic Latvians are your target stick to English.

Riga beats Netherlands, looks wise it is similar to Estonia, but friendliness wise Estonia is better. I haven't been to Estonia for a while though. But I liked Lithuania better.

Vinny, have restoration or overall prices gone up in Riga lately?

I remember 2 years ago I always hate by the center and not finding it particularly expensive, Vinastudijo for example comes to my mindm but maybe I got lucky in my places of choice...Or maybe I am a jadni who always looks first to the menu ))

Also on the cheap, a reasonable meal at Lido could be for 5€.

I notice how dominant the Slavic/east European area is in discussion, but is the south, like Romania, Serbia, Croatia etc favored as much? I don't see it talked about as much. Why not as much as the north parts?

Good thread. How would you rank these cities in terms of racism and safety? I'm tan skinned and hispanic with dark features.

I would like to add the overall impression:

1. St. Petersburg (great)
2. Bucharest and Kaunas (good)
3. Riga (ok)

@Rocha: Prices went up significantly after introduction of Euro as main Currency few years ago.

@Tirsoneri: FYI baltics is not really Slavic, yet Serbia and Croatia are. So you confuse me. Anyways if you compare Baltics to Balkans I would Balkan kicks ass.

@Stuntman: Not so sure as I am Caucasian. I know that Lithuanians and Latvians are pretty Nazi. Every 16th of march there is still Waffen SS parade in Riga [Image: biggrin.gif] But I saw few black guys in all 4 countries. They seemed to be doing well.

Sorry I totally dont even know Europe yet at all yet! lol

I try to remake my question without those mistakes.

In eastern Europe you have (A) the north half containing places like Ukraine, Poland and Latvia etc which are always discussed here while there is also a south half (B) containing Romania, Croatia, Serbia etc. How does A differ from B and why do I see people talking about A a lot but not B? Is B good for pussy hunters or serious love seekers or neither?

Because most players are not blond but dark featured...Asian,africans, indians, latin americans, south euros or even guys from the anglosohere. Its well known men tend to have a thing for blondes, specially ethnic and dark haired caucasian men.
