What about Donbass and Crimea? That's what RVFers are interested in.

Go to Zaporizhia and from there take a train to Mariupol. From Mariupol try to make it into Donetsk. From Donetsk get to Luhansk and from there try to cross the boarder into Russia.
I doubt you even will make it from Mariupol into Donetsk. I was interested in doing that trip in summer but what people told me is that the Ukrainian army will not allow any foreigners passing through into Donetsk at least if you are not a journalist or some NGO, foreign government or OECD guy.
You might try to cross the boarder illegally but it might not be ideal to get caught by the Russian separatists. Anyway Donetsk was a fantastic city before all this shit started so I would be very interested in an updated datasheet.
Edit: I just saw the choices on your Twitter survey. I doubt that many RVF members are interested going into these countries even if there would be no war at all. So agree with MrRemi Donbass would be an interesting area for the forum members here.
Alternatively the other more interesting option might be Venezuela.

I understand your desire for adventure but as someone that travels to conflicts there is serious planning needed. Mogadishu is much safer than Libya or Yemen currently are. I also agree that you should look into Donbass as it's both interesting and fairly safe. Iraq is also worth looking at both Baghdad and KRG.
Libya and Yemen are both logistically difficult and expensive. Visas are also tough to obtain. You could go to Tripoli but you'd be bored as all the interesting places to see are outside Tripoli. Both countries have amazing historical sites and culture but in their current state they aren't much fun and nearly impossible to visit.
Afghanistan is possible and has some interesting historical sites. Kabul and the surrounding area have enough to offer for 4 or 5 days.
I think you need to seriously consider what your budget is. It's easy to go through a few grand in a week traveling in conflict zones.

You can try and build a social circle in the jungle of Calais.
Kongo has been ravaged by civil unrest for a long enough period to leave plenty of traumatised women at your disposal.
Alternatively if that's too harmless, why not daygame banda aceh or island hopping around jolo.

Check out Boko Haram in northern Nigeria.

I have always wanted to go to Yemen. The capital Sanaa looks straight out of Arabian Nights.
Venezuela too, I'd classify it as a war zone the way things are headed right now.

Western Pakistan/Eastern Afghanistan but I'd invest in kidnapping insurance if you went out there

Erbil is only 60 miles from Mosul, but has some decent bars. You can get a 15 day visa on arrival.
