Michelangelo was one of the most awesome artists who ever lived. He was showered in cash for this very reason. Had he been shit, no leftist academia and democratic bureaucratic leeches would've called his inverted toilets or his dancing-in-a-circle-with-fingers-up-anus "performance art" art, he would've either starved to death in obscurity with no tears shed, or given up and worked whatever job he could get.
I just saw the Moses sculpture (from your second link) in person, last week.
I have always hated bureaucratic-sponsored art. But my trip to Italy, to drink in the Renaissance and the Baroque, has elevated that hate to an almost Crusades level devotion to destroying it.
Right now, in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, there are some of the most famous sculptures in the world (most of them copies, since the real ones had to be moved inside museums so they are protected... supposedly). Anyway, it's a beautiful piazza. Every day, regardless of the errand I am running, I stop by for a few minutes at least.
The city is putting on some temporary exhibit of a modern artist, and has placed his wretched shit in the middle of the piazza. It's a ridiculous boy riding a turtle. It looks like a Monopoly board piece.
Anyway, the joke is on them. The contrast between beautiful, lasting, human art and soulless pomo crap is even easier to make in this setting. It's just too bad it's littering the piazza while I am here.
