Google: A potential Golem against us

If you really want to be safe buy a Linux VPS and literally run your own mailserver with full encryption and auto deletion.

This plus PGP encryption for content, regularly rotating server IPs and only accessing the mailbox via Tor (using Tor Browser Bundle, Tails or TorBirdy) is about as close as you can get to secure clearnet email.

But metadata is still being leaked about the mail recipients, subject headline etc. This is why it's better to rely on encrypted instant messaging for communication as email just isn't designed for security.

Run your own email, just buy a domain and use the free or cheap service provided by the registrar.

And you think your webhost isn't gonna give up your emails?

There are webhosts in countries that don't care much for American interests, such as Russia.

I've almost stopped using Google for most searches and am going to nuke my gmail ASAP - but I'm always looking for ways to stay as private as possible.

Great thread, keep it up.

If you stop using Google, Microsoft and Facebook services,
and you protect well your real IP address, you're on the right way

Most of Google's top management are still connected to reality and know the moment they become tool of the left will be the downfall of their company. Last time I check, most of them what to make money.
This is an interesting point. This seems to be what is happening to facebook and twitter. Note that Amazon seems to not censor anything which is wonderful. Seems to cause a slow rather than a quick demise unfortunately though becoming a tool of the left, facebook and twitter are both still there..

Yes, a comparison between Twitter (which is collapsing in value) who has been overtaken by SJWs

and Amazon (which is strong and growing in value) which continues to protect free speech

is very much showing exactly the recipe for disaster: to let your company get eaten by the political correctness, censorship leftist parasites

I've been wondering when it comes to private browsing - how does Google, Facebook, and organizations that want to track you react to you going off the grid? I stopped using public internet in about 2014, stopped regularly using Facebook last year, and am now using nothing but private browsers (and am going to soon get a VPN and implement most of what has been suggested here).

However, does any of this raise red flags, especially if I'm one of the only people in my neighborhood doing it?

They have over 4 billion people Inside the grid, using Facebook, Twitter, Google every day.

They look to extract maximum of personal details and maximum of income from those 4 billion people.

Us, who went off the grid, we're less than 0.01%

They're focusing on the 99.99%, on those 4 billion, that's what's important to them.
