Missoula is a strange town. It probably sounds like a shit location being in montana and all but its actually a pretty nice little college town town. I lived here for a few years and had a blast.
Stuff to do: ski area 15 miles from town called snow bowl, its a pretty shit resort to be honest but the close proximity makes it alright.
Theres another ski area called lost trail an hour and a half drive near the idaho border, lost trail is a hidden gem with slow two man lifts but some great terrain. There is also lookout pass ski resort not too far from town that can be fun.
If you are into fly fishing, missoula is an amazing area to fish. The clark fork river runs right through town and the bitterroot, blackfoot, and an area called rock creek are all right around town. Everyone in town tubes these rivers en masse so its almost like a big party floating down, the best float route is on the blackfoot river called johnsrude, it has some fun little rapids and without fail at a certain stretch at least one girl in the group would got thrown off a tube and start crying.
There is a park in the middle of town called caras park that during the summer has activities a couple times a week. Anything from little bullshit concerts to beer fests and theres always shitloads of chicks at these prowling for some wang. Theres also a bigass concrete wave built in the river right next to the park for kayaks.
There is a ton of hiking spots, as missoula is basically surrounded by mountains. There is a pretty nice hotsprings not far out of town called lolo hot springs that you pay a few bucks to get into with manmade pools. If you keep driving over lolo pass to the clearwater river ( you can catch big steelhead out of this) there are natural hotsprings a few miles off the road that are amazing called jerry johnson hotsprings. Sometimes there are nudists here, ive seen anything from a pack of female swedish exchange students frolicking naked to fat loggers with their schlong flopped.
If you drive south of missoula to the bitteroot valley theres a hiking trail with a creek between almost every mountain. These creeks are full of brook trout and cutthroat trout. Tons of deer and elk everywhere, i have seen black bears and mountain lions but there is no grizzly bears. Moose are pretty common though and are mean. I would reccomend a handgun for hiking around.
There are two good breweries in town, kettlehouse and big sky that both have some decent signature shit.
Night life/food: the night life is pretty easy to figure out, just go downtown and all the bars are clustered together. I cant think of any food here that blew me out of the water, lots of shitty ethnic food and burger cafes. There are little shitty casinos EVERYWHERE, they serve you free beer and mix drinks to gamble so me and my buds would throw a five in a nickel keno machine and suck down as much booze as we could off it. Lots of little sluts you can pick up that work in these things.
Girls: UM is a liberal arts college, whereas the other state school MSU is more engineering. Most of the girls go to um. These are chicks that went to small rural highschools scattered across the state and when they get to college are ready to cut loose. Some of these small town girls are the biggest hos i have ever seen, their only access to "city life" is tv and internet so they start hoeing young and hard. There is also a lot who are virgins going into college who were raised right and are into church etc. lots of these girls are athletes too.
The ratio is great in this town, there are girls everywhere, mostly white girls. There is a decent sized native american population but most of these girls are ROUGH in every sense of the word but i have met a few sexy ones. If you are black and in ok shape prepare to be swamped with attention, its an almost all white state. My best friend growing up was adopted from ethiopia and when he stayed with me had to beat them off with a stick.
If anyone has any questions post or pm me. Im on a phone so i didnt go in depth as i could.
I have also lived in Billings, Bozeman, and am familiar with the rest of the state if anybody is curious about the other parts of Mt. I could also do a sheet on couer delane idaho, or bellingham WA.
