Men Who Talk About Their Wives/Girlfriends All the Time – What Does it Mean?

There’s a Korean-American guy in my office who’s in LTR with a Chinese-American woman. He talks to the lady in the cubicle behind me all the time about her, like how wealthy she is, what she's up to, favourite food etc. He talks more about her than he does about himself.

It seems to me like the he's a total pussy who is intimidated by his partner.

As for myself, I never talk about any women I'm seeing with anybody. Nobody at work has any clue about what I get up to in my private life. I also don't ask people about their private lives, but they usually end up telling me in anyway.

I think it can be embarrassing - 2 examples:
  • Indian American colleague got engaged to an Indian-American woman, he used to tell everybody in team meetings how he proposed to her and how the wedding was going to be. A couple of weeks later he tells me he's split up with her.
  • Jewish American guy at college tells everybody about how great his fiancé (from a white-American Christian background) is and that she will convert to Judaism for him. A few months later, he tells me they broke up because she couldn't go through with the conversion. He's now married to a Jewish-American woman.
Do you guys know anybody like this? What does it mean from a male/female relations perspective?

Their life isn't interesting enough on its own.

It is male attention whoring, self pride mixed in with disbelief at a perceived high accomplishment. "Can you believe it? I locked a chick down that I am so into! Someone give me a high five already!"

It isn't a good sign.

Or they are the weaker partner. The other one rules the house.

Siding with Travesty on this.

The more someone talks about their significant other - the less that person has any focus/hobbies of their own. Although I can see a woman doing it out of pride and it being "acceptable" - when a guy does it, it comes off as sad.

Doesn't mean shit. Just cause a guy might be blue pill when it comes to male-female relationships doesn't mean the guy is a bad guy or a bad friend. Some of the most honorable, trustworthy and hard working guys I know are bluepill when it comes to their relationships.

A big turning point for me in my personal growth when I learned not to care about someone else's relationship behavior as long as it doesn't affect me. The only male-female dynamics I care about as a man are my own.

That's what it boils down to. Guy from thirsty culture or thirsty guy in general attaching themselves to someone to socially validate themselves.

I've heard various muslims talk endlessly about how good it is to be married. When I look at their grotesque wives the only assumption I have is that it's glorious to be allowed (with religious acceptance) to stick the nub into the cooter, finally. Otherwise, it's atrocious in every other way imaginable including the lame offspring brought up with shit culture.

Usually their wife is more successful than them, when they act like that. Dude I used to work with always bragged about his wife having a masters. I guess he thought it made him look better. She divorced him.

He seems like a pleasant enough guy but I'm not interested in making friends with him and he probably feels the same way. This is just an observation I had and I wanted some opinions on it. He's also very choosy in who he hangs out with, he's part of the office Chinese/Korean/Taiwanese clique.

Another thing I once heard him say is that his fiancés parents bought the house next to theirs and they want him and her to move in after marriage. I think that if he does that that's him handing over his balls to them on a silver platter - the woman should come to the man, not the other way round.

For a Muslim marriage is an obligation, so marriage means they've completed the obligation, hence the happiness...but the religious ones are a bit obsessed to by sex and are happy to finally get their dick wet.

There's plenty of Muslims with hot wives out and about, but many of them are not covered up so you wouldn't think they were Muslim at first glance.

A scant minority from what i've witnessed abroad.

I don't know how it is in the U.K. where there are floods of subcontinent immigrants and asylum seekers who crossed over from Spain and migrated to the isles. Maybe it's better though I don't know and or pretend to care one way or another.

Maybe the social dynamics are different or less degenerate than I assume it to be.

Whenever you hear someone going out of their way to talk about how great something is, just assume the opposite.

How many girls do you know who are always talking about how "happy" they are?

Cosign with Trav & Jariel on this one.

The loudest one in the room is typically the most insecure and unhappy.

I always see these dudes posting about their significant other on FB.

Usually they're trying to rub it in their ex's face or make up for a shitty relationship they had in the past.

Also, they're the ones with the least power in the relationship.

Great post.

The person who cares less in the relationship is the one who is control of the relationship.

Guys like the ones you referred to often suffer from caring too damn much, I wrote about that last year.

This is the best advice. Don't talk about your personal life, politics, or religion at work. You have to talk to people though, so talk about the weather, sports, travel, or just talk about work. If people ask about your private life, keep it brief, simple, vague, and positive.

We often talk about things we are in question about.

In the case of the Korean-American he may not be show-boating, but instead trying to work out how he feels about his wife being very financially self-sufficient, or her eating too much. Maybe he's hoping for some feminine insight by telling all this to a woman co-worker. Maybe he just needs someone to listen to him which helps him sort it all out on his own. Akin to talking to his Mother/Grandmother. Who knows?

I don't think it's beta to be in question and seek out others to help with it. We all do that here on some level, don't we?

^ Talk to your brother, father, a male friend, or mentor about that stuff. Spilling it to the entire office is just unprofessional. I would never respect someone like that in a leadership position.

Only if all your pics are from fuglies. And even then there would be some kind of willpower that one might respect if you had your phone filled with hundreds of fatties.

The kind of respect you save for those who are truly masochistic to a degree we cannot fathom.

Knew a Korean guy at a previous job who always talked about his wife, how wealthy her family is, how awesome she is blah blah blah. We all put it down to him being horribly pussy whipped.

Then she divorced him out of the blue, the guy fell into some kind of depression and quit his job.

Good buddy of mine is the opposite of this. Married to a legit Latina 9, but you would never even know it because he never talks about her. He is too busy having fun and getting side pussy.

I think the last time he mentioned his wife was in the context of saying how hot her mom (his mother in law) was.

One of the most beta dudes I've met on the other hand wouldn't shut up about his girlfriend (now fiancee). Every single day he would drop her name and excitedly expand upon her education, career, family, etc. It's like he couldn't contain his excitement that he "bagged" a bangable foreign chick.
