Dropshipping on ebay (hustle in progress)

Alright, so I've been looking at a few, and I actually have the supplier side equation figured out, but the legal aspect is the ONLY thing holding me back.

1. I don't have products, they would be shipped from a reputable distributer overseas, not my personal home address

2. The distributer is chinese-based, but they have warehouses in america, and also take payment through paypal (should I bail now? or is that a good sign)

3. The only 'business' I would be doing, is listing their stuff through my ebay account, and getting a portion of sales, credited to my paypal

I'm still planning this hustle, I plan on just hitting the roof for ebay/IRS limit (sell up to $20k, no more) has anyone encountered similar problems? I don't want to start a business, I just want to make up to 200 transactions/$20k on ebay and then cash out

Any input is always appreciated.

andy, can you elaborate on the IRS/ebay 20k/200 transactions thing? Thanks.

Ebay basically says, until you hit more than 201 transactions/sell more than $20k, they don't report you to the IRS because its not the threshold

Not to be an asshole, but why not post this in the 3 other dropshipping threads?

Main problem is that I don't think you'd see enough profit to cover your setup time if you plan on dropping it as soon as your turnover reaches 20k.

I think this deserves it's own thread as eBay is kind of wierd about dropshipping. eBay is not really drop ship friendly and has actually been known to boot off drop shippers.

It's very confusing however because at the same time I received an e-mail from eBay the other day in which they offered a rep to help me work with "my dropshippers" even though I'm not even dropshipping to somehow export like CSV files of orders to send to dropshipers.

Ebay seems to be talking out of both sides of their mouth, they are offering to help me make dropshipping easier via an email from a rep recently, yet at the same time I know many people personally have who been booted with dropshipping as the reason.

I personally was even contacted by ebay and paypal recently asking for inovices basically trying to tell if I was dropshipping.

If your talking about the 20k thing I'm guessing your booted by ebay and not allowed to sell legit? Either that or want to cheat the tax man. Either way if at all possible start a legit store on eBay. You start getting discounts, better search ranking, etc by getting high feedback and having an established account, thats when the money really starts to roll in. If your ditching accounts every time you hit 20k your never really hitting your stride on ebay and really having hte power of a successful established account. Also just the setup work isn't worth it if your only going to sell 200 items and 20k.

I know lots of people make great money running stealth accounts and ditching accounts at 20k but if you want to start a real dropshipping business your kind of shooting yoruself in the foot building an account and the drop shipping infrasctrucutre just to be constantly ditching the accounts.

I've not started anything, I'm still getting suppliers lined up, but I'm trying to figure out if I need a business license, to do something, like dropshipping
