Berlin vs. Amsterdam

So I am looking to make a change. I was in Milan and now I am in Barcelona for the last 8 months. Both are great cities but picking up girls have been very difficult. Enough about Barcelona and Milan. Which brings me to my question:

I am going to make a move to a more English speaking area. My 2 choices are Amsterdam or Berlin.

I am in my early 30's, English speaking. Good game in English only.

If you have traveled in either area give me your thoughts on the following:

1) Which is easier to pick up girls in English (or not).
2) Which city has girls that are more DTF?
3) Which has better looking girls.
4) Which is better for a guy in his 30's.
5) Which is better for going out (I don't go to clubs, I like lounges, bars at restaurants and pubs).
6) In the EU, anyone have a better place to relocate that you think would be superior to Berlin or Germany. I would love to stay in a warm area but it seams the best spots are in the frost. Let me know, I am open to any suggestions (Stockholm, Copenhagen, Prague, Rome, Paris, South of France, Lisbon, Etc)?

Thanks

1) Which is easier to pick up girls in English (or not). Amsterdam all the way ,most English city outside of the UK
2) Which city has girls that are more DTF? Berlin (personal preference)
3) Which has better looking girls. Berlin (personal preference)
4) Which is better for a guy in his 30's. Berlin is more artsy, bigger, cheaper (way cheaper for taxis and food and has slightly better food), has a good subway system, better weather, I love Amsterdam I've been there dozens of times, but I would prefer living in Berlin and flying to Amsterdam every fourth weekend.
5) Which is better for going out (I don't go to clubs, I like lounges, bars at restaurants and pubs). Both cities are good, Berlin has more variety because it's bigger, Amsterdam has good nights 7/7, but Berlin is simply bigger more nightlife going on.

B-A-R-C-E-L-O-N-A, but since you are from Spain I would say indeed Amsterdam or Berlin, but both cities have bad weather beware [/b]

In both cities, it is not difficult to pick up girls. In Amsterdam, everybody speaks English and the percentage of tourists is higher.
2) Which city has girls that are more DTF?
Both - I did not notice a significant different. Berlin has more niche type of girls - hipster, artsy et cetera. If that it your scene, definitely go to Berlin
3) Which has better looking girls.
I would say Amsterdam, but difference is marginal
4) Which is better for a guy in his 30's.
Cannot comment on Berlin here. In Amsterdam, the age difference between girls and guys is usually not very big. 35's with 20 year olds is a bit frowned upon.
5) Which is better for going out (I don't go to clubs, I like lounges, bars at restaurants and pubs).
See question 2 on the niche type of girls. Same thing goes for clubs and bars

Stockholm definitely has a higher quality of girls than both of the cities you mentioned, but it is also much more expensive. Rome seems a bit touristy, South of France is expensive and only good in the summer. I think both Amsterdam and Berlin are solid choices as a home base[/b]

Thanks

I have lived in Amsterdam for a few years, and have only been on short weekend trips to Berlin, so I may be a bit biased. See my answers in bold.

I agree - Berlin beats Amsterdam by a wide margin - more approachable girls (Germany has improved a lot these days), Daygame is super-easy there since local guys are way less open than in the Anglosphere.

Berlin is by far cheaper, has plenty of pubs, clubs, and a nice scene there. There is a good reason why Brad Pitt and Jolie have bought an apartment there. You can melt into the population quite easily. Approaching in English is no problem there - most girls and all students speak English well enough. I might add that I personally prefer Netherlands to live in, but that has nothing to do with the women, cost etc.

Of course Game wise cities in EE give you more bang for buck and bang for bang - similar lifestyle. Strangely enough some are more expensive than Berlin.

Obvious choices Budapest (much better weather), Romania (multiple cities), Prague, Slovakia (Bratislava).

I would not recommend Berlin. It has to be the most overrated city I've ever been to. Not only are the girls ugly, but they dress terribly, and it's common to see hideous tattoos and piercings. I would compare the place to San Francisco is terms of the quality of the girls. You can spend an entire day on the U-bahn and not see a single girl above a 6. Plus, the city is huge, sprawling, and not conducive for daygame. Granted, I have not been to Barcelona, Milan or Amsterdam so I can't really compare. But definitely pick an EE city if possible. Poland (Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Poznan) or Prague, or Bucharest, Belgrade. Any of those places would be far superior to Berlin.

I think you should speak in terms of personal preferences or specify that you do not like blond girls with blue eyes.

Comparing Berlin to SF is surreal.

Also, the gentleman is asking about living in a city some people would prefer Berlin to Belgrade or Bucharest (!?) for comfort reasons.

What a bullshit. I see very hot girls in tight leggings all the time on the ubahn. They are not very approachable, though, less so then in Amsterdam I think.

You could be right about Central or Eastern Europe. Of the cities you listen I've only been to Krakow and at least the younger ones were much more approachable then in Berlin. The hotness of the girls in Krakow was not necessarily higher than in Berlin, though.

However, Polish girls do have a fetish for Spanish people. German girls might have that fetish moreso than Dutch girls, especially in Amsterdam the girls don't seem to be impressed at all by that.

As cities in general, I feel that Berlin still has a lot of development going through the next years, Amsterdam as a city feels a bit more 'matured', crystallized. Berlin has more buzz, at least in my opinion. More rough edges. And quick access to Poland.

I've lived in Amsterdam and I've been to Berlin and question 2) through 5) are impossible to answer. You'll get tons of opinions but ultimately they are all worthless. You can't measure any of that shit with two places like that.

It always bugs me when people spend a couple of weeks in different places and then make pro/con lists like that's what's really happening there all day every day. Hell, there are places I've lived for multiple years and it would still be impossible to answer questions like "where is it better for 30+ dudes?" or "where are the hotter girls?"

You can answer some questions we like to ask with reasonable certainty on an international level (comparing, say, Belarus with Brazil), but Amsterdam and Berlin are just two versions of the same thing. Not to mention they are both huge and you can have a great or terrible time depending on where you end up and who you associate with.

The only question that has a real answer is 1) and that's Amsterdam (not even close).

So all things considered, that's your decision right there.

I agree with Jasond. I was recently in in Berlin, although for a short stay. Consider my observations within this context. There were days I didn't see a girl above a 7. Girls are less feminine and more hipster. However, I can see other advantages of making it a good city to live in (e.g. metro, food, music, English levels). I have also been to some of the EE cities mentioned and the talent blows away Berlin. Berlin isn't in the same ballpark as some of those cities for girls.

I am shocked. Are there really better looking girls in Berlin? It sounds like you have been to both a lot. on a scale of 1-10 (10 being mint) how would you rate the girls?

Secondly... off the subject a little. I have a business and I need to higher English speakers. The accents in Holland are great!! Germans obviously have a strong German/English accent. How is Berlin are there a lot of English speaking natives that have decent English accents?

I have a EU PP so I want to stick in the EU. Belgrade was one of my first choices but i don't want to deal with the visa stuff. What do you like better Prague or Bucharest? Which is better English and weather? Thanks

I completely agree that Berlin has a very hipster vibe. You see a few quality girls but they are difficult to open. To me Berlin is one of the most overrated cities there is. I would much rather hit Hamburg, Munich, Nurnberg, Heidleberg, Leipzig, or just about any other city in the German speaking world. Maybe my reaction is due to me hating hipsters and Berlin is a city full of them.

I would say that Berlin is the answer to all six of your questions.

Only Dutch guys get laid in Amsterdam. Unless we are talking about banging hookers.
Amsterdam is full guys on boys trips, out to get fucked. Mainly British and Italian. Which are probably the worst two because British people will get drunk and act like shit humans and Italian guys will get drunk and get all rapey.
I am surprised that all Dutch women haven't turned into Lesbians yet. Seriously, there is no way that they could be into foreign guys.

Berlin you will have endless places to go out, any night of the week.
Nederlands and Germany are the same when it comes to women... There will be plenty of hot girls, and there will be plenty of ugly girls.

I have never had a problem getting laid in Germany. and 7/8 of the German girls I have banged have left lasting impressions.

The less fucks you give, the more fucks you get.

1) Which is easier to pick up girls in English (or not).
I would say Berlin, in Amsterdam you can pick up the tourists but native dutch girls are a pain in the ass, they can smile and discuss a bit with you but difficult to get more, on top of that if you are german or french and you stay long enough you'll discover that they hate people from these 2 countries.
German girls are more shy in the first approach but in the meantime more charming, more genuine.

2) Which city has girls that are more DTF?
I would say both but the pick up game in Amsterdam is very poor, mostly dead drunk game.

3) Which has better looking girls.
a bit difficult to answer, you might have the feeling they are better looking in Amsterdam but the city is smaller and has a high density of population, if you stick to the center of Amsterdam then girls are better looking then Berlin, if you take the whole city into account it's less obvious. In Amsterdam girls have a better sense of fashion.

4) Which is beatter for a guy in his 30's.
It depends what you are looking for, if you like hookers and weed go for Amsterdam, you'll have a great time. You'll find plenty of english speaking expats to socialize with and dutch people have a kind of inferiority complex towards the american so they love them a lot, as a canadian I'm assuming you would get the same love.

5) Which is better for going out (I don't go to clubs, I likehey lounges, bars at restaurants and pubs).
Both are good for going out, plenty of bars and clubs in both cities. I prefered Berlin because there are plenty of alternative places.

I understand that you are running a business and need to hire english speaking people, I think for the easiness of running a business and general english speaking abilities Amsterdam is one of the best choices. Don't choose Paris to run a business or you'll regret it your whole life, diverse taxes and labor laws will kill your business.
I don't know all the european cities though, maybe there is a hidden gem somewhere...
