Men getting shit done

[Image: ddna6q.jpg]I'm just sitting in my apartment in Dubai and I am getting a first hand glimpse of a building going up. While all the other bitches in my building are complaining about the noise, I'm fascinated by the never-ending buzz of production. The columns of diggers I saw last night arrive en masse were relieved by lines of concrete trucks this morning.

It's a wonderful sight! In the countries most of us come from - and where most of our infrastructure is more or less complete, we no longer get a first hand glimpse of the precision and hard labour that it takes to put up a building.

Yes, in a previous life I had to learn about construction technology, it's very interesting and advancing just like everything else.

Dubai's a good place to watch it.

Make sure they are putting enough rebar in those columns.

The erecting of such columns is a sexist symbol of patriarchy and should be done behind a curtain.

Construction is the one area of life where, regardless what happens in gender politics, men can sit back, relax, and know that we bent nature and physics to our own goddamn will. Let it sink in how much effort and persistence were required to build the Pyramids, Stonehenge, the Great Wall, even the house or building where you're reading this.

2,000 lbs. marble slab and no machinery? Fuck you, we're gonna carry it through hundreds of miles of desert and lift it 100 meters in the air with blood and sweat.

Many of the worlds most famous construction projects had the same casualty rates as most military conflicts these days. Men being crushed, beaten, worked to exhaustion, and for little or no pay. There was (and in my opinion still is) an enormous degree of honor in construction work, and the men doing it had a unique brotherhood.

Beyond the sheer manpower required to build these things, it was only the brilliance of man's great thinkers that allowed it to happen. From inventing the mathematics system, to exploring and charting the earth, harvesting its resources, to the architecture and engineering of individual projects, this is one vital area of human progress we can call our own.

And not one woman was found, ever:

Indeed, all erections are mysoginistic and unfit to be seen in public.

A real SJW could come up with a far more outlandish criticism. Reality really does trump satire nowadays

The building of Dubai as a new global center, with a huge collection of world class skyscrapers, is a highly masculine undertaking. Furthermore, many men are interested in things like construction, hot rodding, cutting edge high powered computers, space ships, military technology, and other typically masculine activities.

In fact, I'm going to give my first rep point for this post

Actually I've had worse. In high school I had an English literature teacher from Singapore. She was a hardcore and vocal feminist. When we were studying The Virgin and The Gypsy, she told us, without a hint of a joke, that all the erected structures, like airport control towers, skyscrapers etc, symbolized penis and thus the male power. She was a single woman in her 50s and threw some insane views and comments on sexuality and the book's sex acts, until we decided we had enough and one of the guys in the class stood up and asked her ''Are you a virgin?''. He got suspended and all the male students failed the next exam.

Oh no doubt.

I just spent a couple of weeks in Dubai. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, I'd heard things about it being kind of hollow and empty in terms of a vibe. I didn't find that all, I think Ali referred to as it a 'rockstar town' that it is for sure.

It feels very much like the place never sleeps, there were was a lot more construction going on than I anticipated. Sheikh Zayed's vision is endless, they are constantly pushing the envelope there. Although, I think many projects are ones that have been kickstarted again due to the 08 crash halting a lot of the development.

The construction workers out there are tough dudes. They get paid what 800 Dirhams a month? I think that's like a couple hundred US Dollars. They bust ass in the hot sun for 10 hours a day and sleep in labour camps. Damn.

I love being a man. Men building shit is what it is all about. It's tough to even comprehend the shear volume of creativity, ingenuity, blood, sweat and tears that men have expended since we've been on this earth in pursuit of crafting something great.

This is such a great picture. I almost bought a frame of it the last time I was in NYC. Wish I had, it would look great on my wall.

In downtown L.A. they're in the process of building the tallest building in the city, beating the current US Bank building. It will be the new tallest building west of of Mississippi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilshire_Grand_Tower

I've taken several friends and girls by the construction site, watched concrete getting poured, just hanging out. They don't really get it or appreciate it.

I get the sense that most people, not just women, look at this world around us and just assume it sprung from the earth like a patch of forest. They forget that this was all created with the blood and sweat of many men.

"...so I gave her an STD, and she STILL wanted to bang me."

Depends on the talent of the labor and if its unionized.

I had some work done outside my apartment last year. The first two days I thought the same as you. Then they stayed at the fucking stage for the next 3 months - there were workers there all the time but nothing was getting done except making a lot of noise.

At that point I was like: this is some [Image: monkey.gif] business

There are these things called foundations. They take time and effort to put in place.

There's a documentary on that picture. I watched it recently, it was exceedingly interesting, but I can't recall the name.

I had it framed in my living room a few years ago. Good conversation bait with chicks.

The very act of erecting a man made structure is the violent rape of the natural feminine. Men ripping the vital life from mother earth through greed and exploitation to assuage the shame of their deep felt inadequacies. Oppressing the femininity of nature by torturing Gaia's gifts into artificial and fallacious shapes.
Construction is a work of hate. Hate, violence and intimidation of women.

It was just a late night, post bottle of wine musing before heading to bed.

Watching this from my balcony has just got me thinking about the shit that is taken for granted. in most cases in the west, the foundations for the infrastructure that make up a vital part of our lives - the high rise buildings that make up the skyline of our cities, the five lane highways that take us between the cities, the underground trains, the sewers that ensure the only shit we have to deal with comes from feminists and other like minded people - were laid before most of us were alive. The post war years in many western countries, and especially in the United States, saw a frenzy of masculine energy and genius, unprecedented in history, that resulted in the improvement of the material standard of life for most people. There's no room for this rate of activity any more and therefore we don't witness large scale productivity in our own cities - I would imagine more money is spent on maintaining the shit we already have than is spent on creating new shit.

But living in Dubai, you can witness the masculine energy of construction that is part of a bygone era in most of our countries. In fact, it's the boom years on steroids, as shown in these widely circulated photos.

[Image: 1470409_10202530181238683_242547918_n.jpg]

And this doesn't show the half of it - there's some seriously impressive stuff here.

But since we don't see it, we take it for granted. We forget that it was men who thought up, designed, and created almost everything we have. Everything we use is just there, we use it and don't give it a second thought.

Imagine if you had this going up in your neighbourhood.

What percentage of the construction workers would be men? What's the likelihood that it would be funded by men? How many engineers designing, testing, solving problems and overseeing the project would be men? How many university professors who trained those engineers about complex ideas in order to solve complex practical problems would be men? What percentage of concrete truck drivers would be men? I could add to this list almost indefinitely.

And how many of those men would have wives who appreciate the importance and hardship of their man's job, and support their men by ensuring they have a good breakfast in their bellies to sustain them during the day, and a tidy house, courteous children, a nutritious meal, and a freshly shaven pussy to come home to after a job well done?

I feel sorry for her. Bitch never got laid so everything looked like a dick. $5 says she was Indian.
