My............ *****, Cafe Mocha! You be playing basketball in pelican bay!
Just wanted to thank everyone who input advice and feedback here. As promised, here's a section of my ticket to back things up XD.
On booking the ticket:
I used Aeroplan miles, travelhacking, and some helpful hints from a friend.
I'll be flying out of Ottawa. Instead of dealing with God awful connections or sleeping in airports, I used some extra Aeroplan miles and 80$ to do the following:
- Leave Feb.16 from Ottawa and go to Vancouver (5 hour flight), ~ 5pm - 11pm Ottawa time, get there 8:40pm Vancouver time
Stay in Vancouver for 6 days and hang out with a friend
- Leave Feb.22 from Vancouver and go to Hong Kong, ~12pm - 1am Vancouver time, get there 5:45pm HK time on Feb.23
Explore Hong Kong for 4 days
- Direct flight from Hong Kong to Saigon (Vietnam) on Feb.27, ~3:20 - 5:45pm HK time, get there around 4:45pm Saigon time.
I used Aeroplan miles to book Ottawa - Vancouver, and Vancouver to HK. HK is a major hub airport in Asia where a lot of international flight go to and from. My friend suggested I try flying here, then getting a direct flight to Saigon and it made my flights FAR better. Other ones I'd get in around midnight then have 14 hours before the next, etc.
Now I begin the process of getting some Visas, making more friends, and preparing!
.... and pipelining for the first 2 weeks where I plan to party XD.
I feel nervous but REALLY excited!!!
In case you were wondering, the trip costed me in total $420. The hotel in Hong Kong is an extra $140, so $560 altogether let's say.
Going through the Air Canada website and booking a direct flight to Saigon, not being able to select my times, sleeping in airport etc... The cost is $2,000.
Travelhacking rules.
Any questions, ask away! Hope to see y'all in SEA!
