The accoutrements of beauty

Today's Western woman has all the accoutrements of beauty but somehow misses true beauty.

She wiggles about in cute clothing, adorns herself with rings and scarves and glitter.

And when you see her from afar your heartbeat quickens and your mouth parches slightly in anticipation of what you have to do: show up.

Show up in all your masculine energy and cradle her gently yet assuringly in it.

It squeezes your soul, makes it ache, when upon showing up with all of a man's pride and courage and strength and warmth and boyish wonder - to behold this magical creature - that the music which caught your ear from a distance is so out of tune up close.

It's as if this girl, truly trusting once and for the last time, had been cruelly tricked into believing, and you in turn cruelly tricked as well, that affecting beauty is the same thing as manifesting it.

And your belabored interaction with her, void of juice, marred by a bone-chilling apathy - not of you per se, but of all existence it would seem - is as crushing to your spirit as true beauty is rare and uplifting.

Yeah, American chicks sometimes have beautiful bone structure and skin, but....the ironic and unromantic side... downer....

Underneath the veneer of beauty lies a Grade A narcissist who views your interaction as an intrusion, an invasion of her personal space or worst of all creepy

At least I can tell my grand kids - 'You know before the IPhone revolution, I was actually able to approach your grandmother and express my interest without her cringing as if I pierced her invisible force field'

It's that moment when you're the most vulnerable, remember that. I was taught early on that beauty is the deadliest weapon, as it makes a man much more vulnerable than he should be.

We have these ancient stories of men fighting wars over the epitome of beauty, as perhaps a lesson to men who immortalized this beauty and aesthetic that chasing it will lead to destruction (Helen of Troy). You should always look wearily onto a pretty face, as it often conceals the darkness behind it.
