His commune broke up in 1985-1986 if I remember right and you would see small groups of his followers traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest. I think many of them were trying to find other communes to join. In December 1986 I was on a Greyhound bus from Portland and two of the passengers, a man and a woman, appeared to be followers of his. Re-watched Tropic Thunder last night for the first time since it came out. Fucking hilarious movie, much funnier than I remember it being. Highly recommended to anyone who hasn't seen it before, or anyone who hasn't seen it for a long time. Excellent comedy.

For all that Netflix does wrong, one thing it does right is crime documentaries. This one is only 4 episodes and well worth a watch.

I mumbled, "oh shit," aloud upon seeing that picture and reading the caption. I agree, I will be SHOCKED if a group like that captures any of the dreariness, brutal violence, and moral ambiguities of The Witcher. We can expect a ton of badass warrior babes fucking up monsters and kicking the shit out of soldiers and brigands and barbarians.

On second thought, they'll do fine with the violence. But it will be violence glorified as it's inflicted on men of all kinds. An awesome scene of a monster ripping apart a helpless, starving, destitute villager, Geralt performing a masterful esquive followed by a decapitation on an otherwise innocent and completely outmatched poor sap forced into fighting someone else's battles...or anything else.

The first episode will have Geralt physically bested in some way by a woman. He'll get knocked on his ass, outshot with a bow, proved wrong in the training yard in Kaer Morhen... something. This is extremely likely. However, I'm willing to bet he'll be intellectually neutered by Yenn or Triss within the 10 minutes of their sharing a scene. Guaranteed.

Our only hope is that Sapkowski is going to have direct involvement.

I watched 1922 last night. About a farmer whose wife (that inherited her father's land) wants to up sticks and move to the city instead of having a farm life. A pretty good thriller with a really masculine lead.

Use a VPN installed on your browser, I used to have one called hola which lets you watch American netflix but theres other free ones.

I haven't seen any wisdom here. I loved the doc, but they never mentioned that Osho banged hundreds of his female followers. I think it's because it would be a touchy race subjects that puts Indians in a bad light and makes them out to worship white female beauty.

In the end, Osho was just a thirsty, bug-eyed Indian troll who figured out a way to get laid: fool gullible drug-addicts and otherwise damaged people into worshipping you.

"I am a Killer" was a great docu series. In the same vein, I'm really impressed with "the confession tapes" which deals with cops and they dirty tactics they use to coerce confessions out of (alleged) perps.

Episodes 1 and 2 especially are riveting. I honestly couldnt tell if those two teens committed the murder or not. Check it out and let me know what you guys think.

I just watched this movie and it was pretty good, very realistic but I would say that it portrays a softer image of what actually happens in Bogota. There wasn't much violence in the movie, I'm sure that many of the thieves in the city are highly skilled like the guys in the movie and they rob people without the victims even knowing it but the reality is that these street level robberies often involve much more violence. I definitely recommend the film, especially if you've been to Bogota, you'll see lots of sites that you recognize.

Good to know, I'll probably go there next year so I know what to expect in terms of crime. I want to watch more Colombian films, it's a good way of getting an insight into the culture and linguo.

That guy wrote the Game of Thrones books. Have some faith brothers.

I'm beyond excited for the Witcher series. If they somehow make it into a high fantasy trash, it will quickly scuttle the show. Everyone knows that the Witcher universe is an unforgiving and dark place, and as a script writer you do not fuck with that atmosphere.

When you read the Witcher books, women also play a central role. They make things FUBAR just as well as the male characters do - without all the fuck-ups there would be no story. Look at Ciri for example, she is a bad ass in the books and there'd be no Witcher stories without her.

I'm willing to bet that Geralt will be portrayed in all his gloriously toxic and dangerous masculinity as he is in the books. He is a very complex character and it's a show writer's wet dream to bring him to the screen.

INFURIATING was how the first episode left me... I didn't even watch the rest I was so pissed. Those kids talking to those undercover cops reminded me of how me and my friends talked/lied to the older bad kids that we ran around with. They were just trying to sound cool and tough to impress their new gangster friends... thats why none of their stories every lined up. I think they were fucking innocent and now they have to spend the rest of their lives in prison because of a corrupt ass system. The FBI even told the police they had a suspect and they knew what the murder weapon was before anyone ever figured it out but the police ignored it cause they were already invested in framing those kids

I have amazon prime but don’t use it much for videos. They have their own shows, as you are probably aware (some of which that look decent but I haven’t really watched) but they seem to heavily promote movies. Unfortunately, most (or all?) you have to pay to see, on top of the yearly fee. I don’t care for that business model on principle- pay a monthly/yearly subscription fee for the privileged of paying to see a movie- so I haven’t used it much.

In my opinion, Netflix is better.
