Has anyone researched options of obtaining permanent residence and/or citizenship in the European Union? Having googled for different options, hm... it does not seem easy at all. Belgium used to be a good choice (citizenship after 3 years of perm residency) but that options is no longer available. "Investor" programmes are not for me as I do not have that kind of money. Do you know of any business-visas that do not require hundreds of thousands of dollars?
Permanent residence / citizenship in EU?

But remember, Europe is not a country. You need a permit for whichever country you're planning on staying in.

Europe is not an easy place to get citizenship or permanent residency at all.

I wouldn't say that EU countries are any more difficult than other high-income countries. A few EU countries are experiencing problems with undesirables due to their lax citizenship policies. The UK and the Netherlands are good examples.
