Twelve Year Old Girls, Inspired by Website, Attempt to Murder Another Girl

CNN today reported that several 12 year old girls stabbed another girl "more than 19 times" in an attempted murder inspired by a horror-themed website:

http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/03/justice/wi...?hpt=hp_t1

It will be interesting to see the media spin on this. It will be worlds apart from the Eliot Rodger shooting. I am sure what we WON'T see is:

1. Editorializing on the sorry state of girls in America today.
2. How all women are part of the problem of 12 year old girl violence.
3. Why we need a "dialogue" on the problem of 12 year old girl violence.

And the usual nonsense.

Apparently they were fascinated with that Slender man game. Slender MAN.

So naturally, this is the fault of all men everywhere.

I wonder how "misogyny" led to this one.

This story will get buried fast.
There is no anti-male agenda to push with this murder.

It very sad and troubling though

@Thuthmosis:

I'm sure they'll find a way to spin it back on men. As Mike5055 noted (above) the word "man" is part of the word "Slenderman", so--of course!--it must be the fault of MEN that these girls went on a kill-crazy rampage.

Women won't admit there is anything wrong with them.

I visited my parents last weekend and kinda glossed over some of the issues with American women and my mom(who is very conservative) just thinks that I, "have a very negative view of women."

No anti male agenda? hah!

Slenderman is a game on the PC(console?), available to buy. Men created slenderman and designed the game so in short, video games >< male environment = male influence.

Yes they will blame it on men in some way or form.

"The girls were trying to impress a certain "Slenderman," the complaint read. One of the girls encountered the name on a website known as Creepypasta Wiki.
12-year-old stabbing suspects arrested Police: Suspects inspired by Internet
Slenderman is a fictional character is an Internet meme that often appears in horror stories, videos and images. One of the suspects told police that Slenderman is the site's supposed leader, and to climb into his realm, a user must kill someone."

What... the... fuck?

A few notes for people who might not be up on this stuff. The "creepypasta" they're talking about are short-form horror stories, usually less than a thousand words in length. A lot of them concern a fictional creature called "Slenderman". Slenderman is an internet gag, a running joke that started 5 or 6 years ago in a photoshop contest about a scary monster that kidnaps children. He doesn't run a "site", he doesn't have a "realm", and he you certainly aren't supposed to kill someone to get into it. I read a lot of creepypasta, hell, a few of them I wrote are enshrined in the 4chan permanent archive, and I've never heard of anything like that.

There's a good chance that these kids are telling lies to deflect attention from themselves. It's no different than "the devil made me do it." Say it was the bogeyman, not you, and you can avoid blame.

Nothing new here - women have an unhealthy relationship with understanding fantasy is fantasy, particularly when basing what they believe are realistic life expectations on it, even to a less-exaggerated degree, which is why movies, tv and celebrity culture make them so miserable when compared to their own lives.

If there's ever a concept of 'toxic femininity' floated, I'd consider it one of the 'core' components.

Thats the problem when you dont regulate knife sales. People should only be able to buy knifs after a background and psychological test deems them white enough.

But seriously, they are going to gwalk away with only a slap in the hand. Obviously its the fault of misogynistic website creators that take advantage of their young impressionable minds.

This won't be a 'men are to blame' issue, it will be a 'video games result in murder in real life!' issue with the usual PC brigade calling for more stringent censorship laws. In my opinion it should be a 'What the fuck were the girls' parents letting them browse the Internet unsupervised at twelve years old?' issue.

(Faust above mentioned the creepypasta wiki ^^^^^^ Slenderman has now been made into a video game)

This is an interesting concept. I think you're absolutely right. It really does seem that the average woman is more susceptible to fantasies, daydreams, and delusions. I think it has much to do with being governed by emotions: what matters are feelings, not objective reality.

Their inability to distinguish between the two leave them open to suggestion, innuendo, and delusions of all sorts. That's why advertising is primarily directed at them.

The various bookstores in my town have no sociology or psychology sections, but huge chunks of the stores are devoted to Oprah-approved self-help; non-religious spirituality; new age; angel guides; past lives; psychic healing; celebrity bios; paranormal; and romance, (including a huge subset of paranormal romance, which outnumbers the history books by two entire shelves).

Everything they read seems to be fantasy-based escapism, without recognising it for what it is.

That was my reply! I saw where you were going with that.

Add Harry Potter, any vampire movie or TV series that has come along over the last 30 years(Twilight, Ann Rice, True Blood). What they call "murder porn" which is basically Law & Order type stuff, Investigative Discovery, Lifetime Movie Network, Dateline, 48 Hours, etc.

I was a big sci-fi reader, but I cant identify with female fantasy readers in any way. Those books are non-sense, but the genre is huge. You can throw organized religion in that bucket because I think most men go to church because their mothers or wives make them.

Ask any female -- even an ostensibly intelligent one -- if she believes in astrology. Note that you have to ask in such a way that she wouldn't feel embarrassed to say yes. As in, "I know a lot of people laugh at this stuff, but actually there are a lot of things about it that are very interesting to me... I wonder what you think?"

Almost any woman, no matter how intelligent she seems, will confess that she "believes in things like that" if she is relaxed enough and doesn't think she will be shamed for it. And that tells you all you need to know.

Also: if you encounter a female who absolutely does not believe in astrology and you can ascertain that she isn't lying, run away as fast as you can. That is a masculine monster, and unless she is a dyke who is there to fix your espresso machine, no good will come of her.

I've got a handful of good ghost stories that I tell girls have 'happened to me', and how 'I can't explain it any other way', and how 'can any of us really know what comes after death', blah blah. They always build rapport with them, even thought I'm just repeating stories girls have told me over the years.

Media update:

Looks like CNN is now trying to shift blame from bad parenting to the imaginary persona of this "Slenderman";

what a bunch of bullshit, these girls are obviously outcasts both fat and one with short hair

the media is not shifting the blame to men but to the internet , this is becoming a pattern, The creepy pasta community is strongly devoted to improving writing and story telling skills with heavy user based feedback

what pisses me off is that slenderman lore is a very shitty story, these bitches didnt even read it , "told police that Slender Man is the 'leader' of Creepypasta" this statement doesnt even make sense, pure nonsense, this was the first thing that appeared in these wackos heads when trying to evade the responsability of attempted murder, just because slenderman is the most famous example in pop culture of paranormal, probably the only since that kind of subject died back in the 80s ,females do this all the fucking time.

im a fan of horrror stories, movies and story telling
posted a creepy pasta classic on the forum some time ago

if you guys are interested here are some short stories

The Portraits
There was a hunter in the woods, who, after a long day hunting, was in the middle of an immense forest. It was getting dark, and having lost his bearings, he decided to head in one direction until he was clear of the increasingly oppressive foliage. After what seemed like hours, he came across a cabin in a small clearing. Realizing how dark it had grown, he decided to see if he could stay there for the night. He approached, and found the door ajar. Nobody was inside. The hunter flopped down on the single bed, deciding to explain himself to the owner in the morning.
As he looked around the inside of the cabin, he was surprised to see the walls adorned by several portraits, all painted in incredible detail. Without exception, they appeared to be staring down at him, their features twisted into looks of hatred and malice. Staring back, he grew increasingly uncomfortable. Making a concerted effort to ignore the many hateful faces, he turned to face the wall, and exhausted, he fell into a restless sleep.
The next morning, the hunter awoke - he turned, blinking in unexpected sunlight. Looking up, he discovered that the cabin had no portraits, only windows.

A few years ago, a mother and father decided they needed a break, so they wanted to head out for a night on the town. They called their most trusted babysitter. When the babysitter arrived, the two children were already fast asleep in bed. So the babysitter just got to sit around and make sure everything was okay with the children. Later that night, the babysitter got bored and went to watch TV, but she couldn't watch it downstairs because they did not have cable downstairs (the parents didn't want children watching too much garbage). So, she called them and asked them if she could watch cable in the parent's room. Of course, the parents said it was OK, but the babysitter had one final request… she asked if she could cover up the angel statue outside the bedroom window with a blanket or cloth, at the very least close the blinds, because it made her nervous. The phone line was silent for a moment, and the father who was talking to the babysitter at the time said, "..Take the children and get out of the house…we will call the police. We do not have an angel statue." The police found all three of the house occupants dead within ten minutes of the call. No statue was found.

Camping
A few months ago a friend of mine, who is an up-and-coming nature photographer, decided to spend a day and night alone in the woods outside of our town. She wanted to get photos of the woods and wildlife as naturally as she could for her portfolio. She wasn’t afraid of being alone, as she had camped by herself many times before. She set up a tent in the middle of a small clearing and spent the day taking pictures. She filled up four rolls of film on that trip, but when she went and got them developed she saw four pictures that unsettled her, these four pictures were taken from inside the tent, of her, asleep in the middle of the night.

Quote:Quote:

A young girl is playing in her bedroom when she hears her mother call to her from the kitchen, so she runs downstairs to meet her mother. As she's running through the hallway, the door to the cupboard under the stairs opens, and a hand reaches out and pulls her in. It's her mother. She whispers to the child, "Don't go into the kitchen. I heard it too."
