I have a few and I feel somewhat guilty about not using them. But if the desire's not there and I'm not wasting my life by watching tons of tv, playing video games and smoking pot, what else can I do?
Here's mine:
1) guitar playing - I used to be pretty good. I could crank out a sweet rock/blues solo. Had some speed too. Lost interest. Now I mostly play the drums.
2) Guitar remodeling/rewiring - I have about 7 guitars that I mostly purchased with installing new pickups and other parts to make them sound 5x more expensive than they actually are. I used to do this obsessively, but got bored as my playing time waned.
3) Writing - I have the skills for it. I'm well-read and used to meticulous about preperation: character development, plot outline, themes, symbolism, literary/cinematic devices, etc. But I only could write for college classes because the deadlines were motivators. Without them, I have almost no interest. And of course since I hardly write: I suck.
But, so this thread doesn't turn into a buzzkill, what talents do you use?:
1) Drums - Play for a band a few times a month (we have a rotation of drummers).
2) Computer Graphic, Web Design and Photo Retouching Skills: I've made several websites showcasing these skills and use them often in my current job.
