Scarlett Johansson photographed with no makeup for Vanity Fair

Following the Lena Dunham leaked photos without makeup (shudder), out comes Scarlett Johansson and Vanity Fair to do a photo shoot of her without makeup. Would you bang?

Compare to this photo with good lighting, longer lens, makeup, and some Photoshop work:

1. For Scarlett Johansson:

2. For Esquire, women who see this eat this shit up.

"Omg look at the unrealistic beauty standards foisted upon women!"

"I am just as attractive as Scarlett Johansson without make-up!"

3. For Esquire, men who see this eat this shit up.

It makes them feel better about their mediocre wives/girlfriends, who at their best look like they are in the same ballpark as Scarlett Johansson without make-up and in bad lighting.

They can also posture and say how they like "natural" and "down to Earth" women more, as if it's because it's a preference and not due to the fact that they can't even utter a sentence to a 7+ in make-up and heels without stuttering.

It's one thing to do it without makeup.

It's another thing to do it without makeup, in bad lighting, wearing an ugly sweatshirt, without washing her hair and with a purposefully creepy smile.

Everything but the creepy smile part.

She would get it. That's why I love college girls. Alot go to class with no makeup and leggings. So when I see them dolled up I am surprised.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

She's still pretty w/o make up. She looks very normal and approachable. Kinda chick you bump into @ Smoothie King on her way home after Yoga Class.

Lena Dunham isn't pretty with or without make up/photoshopping.

They're actually doing stuff to maker her look bad on purpose.

- Fish Eye Lens, up close
- Uneven spotlight, with little fill
- No softness to lights, harsh
- Grey shirt, no fashion
- Close up on face, hiding full figure
- Close angles and lights emphasis sheen on face

Seriously, that photo is like a list of bad photographer practices.

Are there more in the set? A full body shot?

Same thing I was thinking. Greasy, messed-up hair, bad lighting. It's like a weight loss before-and-after when the same guy puffs out his gut to purposely look shitty and then flexes his abs for the next pic.

They want a stark contrast to sell magazines to fuggos.

My best guess is, somewhere along the line, there was some kind of focus group testing done that involved her, and she didn't rate well with the female demographic because of her beauty, and, therefore terms like 'snobby', 'cold' and 'bitch' were thrown around. Her PR people got into a tizzy about raising her appeal, and realised that deliberately downplaying her beauty in the public sphere would make her more relatable to women, and therefore, more bankable.

She's always been helluva overrated. Personally, I think she looks like a Who from Whoville with that funky nose.

Obviously I'd bang her, but I really don't think she's all that and this proves it.

Agreed, she's a solid 6 without makeup. I'd bang, but no chance of a long term relationship. I know a girl who undergoes a similar transformation with makeup. Enough of a difference that you double take.

The vogue picture is still meh. The glossy face and makeup doesn't work for me. Makeup should enhance natural features, not make a different face.

Hollywood is just as poison to men as it is women. They deal with smoke and mirrors, and the bar is set too high. Not only is this causing women to give up, but swing the opposite direction to purposefully get fat and unattractive. It triggers a defense mechanism.

For us its no different. If you were in college every grade the professors gave you was an F, trying push you too hard, you'd at some point just say fuck it. We see 'models' and shoot for those goals, but forget that many of them are men, have been photoshopped, or surgically altered. Johansson is the perfect example of how we've been duped, and we are to blame.

We need to start a movement shaming and ignoring Hollywood. I believe it would cure a lot of what makes us sick in society. I've not turned the t.v. on in awhile and it doesn't bother me a bit. There is healthier ways to entertain and educate ourselves.

She's got makeup on in the first picture and professional lighting for the photoshoot. Once again, it's just kidding suckers that want to believe they can be the same.

That just goes to show that she is so attractive, even when they do everything in their power to maker her as ugly as possible, she still outshines most average women at their best, in makeup with full regalia.
