Who makes a good, reasonably price, arm chair?

I tried searching for an old thread but this was my first hit:

"gay bars a good place to pickup chicks or not"

So, I'm thinking that a new thread is required here.

I am looking for a nice armchair for my smallish 1-BR apartment that has a small footprint - meaning it doesn't take up too much space.

I keep seeing these on the IKEA website:

However, the price makes me think that they are just really flimsly and will fall apart in less than a year.

Is there anyone else out there who makes things along this line but with better materials? I would love to have one whose underlying frame was sturdy metal if it was comfortable and I would be willing to pay a premium.

I guess what I am really asking is if there is anyone out there who makes furniture for the market between IKEA pressed cardboard and super high end luxury brands.

Buy your arm chair, computer chair at Costco. A good one named Thomasville will run you 250 dollars. Genuine leather. Costco has a lifetime return policy on everything you buy if you are not satisfied -- except electronics. I just returned my computer chair after 6 years and got back my 260 dollars for it. So you're not really purchasing, it's more like renting until it breaks or you are short on cash.

I had the model similar to this one and was satisfied for 6 years.

They also have arm chairs if you do not want a computer chair

Craigs List is a great place for used furniture.

I found some chairs like this.

I think that chair your posting is the Poang chair. They are actually a pretty decent chair for the price and pretty comfortable. A couple years back they came up with a Poang Zero Gravity type chair, was super comfortable but way overpriced, I dont think they offer that one anymore

Yes, in general IKEA can be mixed in terms of quality, but I would have thought given it's such a simple piece with no assembly required it should last for the money.

I second though the 2nd hand furniture. I have a friend who buys 'brand' antiques... he'll shell out $2k for a massive authentic desk (that looks amazing) and 10 years later it's worth $4k. So that's another option, 'investing' in antiques at the right price will at least hold and possibly increase in value.
