How do you carry cash in a foreign country?

I usually split cash and cards so whatever happens I will be left with ebough to leave the country. For example if I have 1500 euro I leave 500 euro in hotel I take 500 euro with me in the wallet and hide the rest.I leave one ATM card in hotel and take one with me.So if sb robs me I will still have enough.

If you're based out of Canada just use your TD Canada Trust card on any networks that have the Plus system. Honestly I've used it all over the world, and only ever had problems in Japan because they have a different system, and the about half the banks I tried in Costa Rica, but after about an hour of searching and trying different banks, I've never been unable to get money.

What I do is if you keep 5k there, you can get select service, which gets you exchange rates that are a little preferable, and free withdrawls all over the world, along with a bunch of other perks.

As a side, I usually carry $500-$1000 in US cash in a money belt under my pants. You never know what could happen to a card or if a machine decides to eat it, or the magnetic strip gets worn out, and well nothing talks like US Cash. Just make sure new bills issued after 2009, as some people are picky.
