Summer - How do you carry your personal essentials

(There are 2 threads on the forums regarding what essential items you should have with you when going out. Good stuff to check out)

thread-15730-page-2.html

thread-29610-page-2.html

However, I cant find any discussion on how people are carrying them, especially during the summer.

I've googled quite a bit but most style forums are not aware of the fact that you need to optimize your sexual appearances. Which means:

-No phone in front pockets. Kill your sperm.
-Absolutely nothing in back pockets. You did your squats and got your beach body right? Why would you want to make your ass look weird by shoving stuff in the back pockets.

I carry everything in my jacket's pocket but summer is simply way too hot to wear one. Adding to that you often need a water bottle and a flask.

So you either carry a sport bag, a leather briefcase or a satchel. Frankly the satchel looks the best to me and very practical, but there's this whole thing against man purse.

How do you gentlement do this?

I rock a Saddleback Leather thin front pocket briefcase. In it I keep my headphones (Bose SoundSport), my notepad (also Saddleback), Kindle, laptop charger, Apple charger, Android charger, a few files, and a 13 inch Macbook Pro in a sleeve. It converts into a backpack when biking. I take it everywhere. Keys clip on to it. Chestnut color makes it look like a lawyer briefcase.

Been leaving my iPad Pro at home. (although it is useful in court).

My wallet is tiny. It's two credit cards, my license, health insurance, keycard to my building, and law license. Goes in my pants.

Phone goes in jacket pocket on suit days, and on non suit days it's clipped to my pants (Otterbox).

For days that I have to carry a bunch of stuff, I rock the Saddleback Leather classic briefcase. Too big for an everyday carry, though. It's a nightmare in an elevator. Great for travel.

In my opinion, a great briefcase is essential for a man. I like Saddleback because they're durable and convert into backpacks for those of us who ride bikes. I can bike to court and then look like a lawyer. The thin briefcase holds just enough. I found myself going through too many briefcases. Although it was expensive, I actually saved money and the thing just looks better with age.

Add:

Personal - wallet, keys, phone. I have my keys separated. Car key, house key, office key, fence key, mailbox key, etc. I also keep a lockbox on my door so (a) contractors can come in when I'm not home, and (b) I don't really need my keys.

I am also a big fan of small wallets. I used to have a giant one.

Professional: laptop (keep it in a sleeve), headphones, phone, chargers, notepad, thing to wipe devices, Kindle. Bike locks if you bike.

I am a bit OCD. I'm big into routine and habit. I need to know where my stuff is. I like to wake up every morning and know where it all is, and how I'm transporting it.

My keys are on the key rack. Briefcase is next to the sofa. Wallet is on my nightstand. Quarters (only quarters) are in the change thing in my truck. Headphones are in my briefcase, along with all chargers. I can wake up, grab stuff, and go without any worries.

Get a good briecase, identify your needs, and keep it all minimal.

-bag

if you are that paranoid on cellphone signals / radiation, line the inside of your travel bag with foil.

The only things I carry are a phone with case, and my bank card in my front right pocket, and my house key goes in the little watch pocket on my jeans.

Get your jackets in linen rather than cotton or wool for summer. A linen blazer over a lightweight cotton shirt is hardly too oppressive, particularly if you get one that is slightly looser tailored. Part of the usefulness of a blazer is that you can carry items in your pockets that would otherwise ruin the line of your trousers. It is an intensely practical piece of clothing, as well as being elegant.

Since I don't want to get a girl pregnant, I'll continue carrying my daily essentials in my pockets like the grown man that I am.

@tobehero: thanks for the tip, never heard that before.

@Hank: yeah I used to like saddle bag or messenger bag for the rugged looking aspect, works well if you are pulling a bad boy look. But what about for usual city-strolling in a chic part of town while dressing semi-casual? Here in Europe that means chinos and fitted polo or shirts with rolled up sleeves. A messenger/saddle bag style hardly fit the outfit.

In Paris these bags for men are selling very well. I like the style but not 100% sure about the "man purse" look. Thoughts?

All you need is your phone, your keys and wallet, this can go in your front pockets easily and you carry the water in your hands or visit café every now and again, why would anyone drag a bag around with them or maybe I'm doing this wrong and look like a right arse?

I use this as a small gym bag or for short trips around my city.

It has a separate shoe compartment on the bottom used in the following settings:

-gym: basketball shoes
-salsa social: dance shoes
-concert: hiding a flask [Image: banana.gif]

AerSF Sling Bag 2

I picked up the older version, which is smaller than version 2 shown above. Also got it in gray, so it's easily spotted at night in the salsa socials / salsa clubs i frequent.

It'd be nice to carry a slimmer bag, or none at all. I find having a bag like this necessary due to owning a smartphone (requires spare battery, cables, plug, 10,000 mAh charger)

then throw in the following edc items:
-wallet
-shades
-keys and/or garage opener
-cigs + lighter
-knife + bear spray
-solid cologne (got tired of portable cologne atomizers evaporating over a week the way zippos do, but at least lighter fluid is only $5 a bottle)
-earphones

At some point its easier to keep all of it in one place, as Hank described. No need to load/unload your pockets on a daily basis.

I get nothing but compliments on my Saddleback bags. My classic is in tobacco and my EDC (thin front pocket briefcase) is in chestnut. The chestnut looks like a lawyer briefcase.

Both bags seem to go well with everything - suit, business casual, or my construction gear. My style varies greatly depending on where I'm at (court, in the office, with a client, on a job site, etc.). My basic needs are my laptop, chargers, wallet, paperwork, notepad, etc. When I'm traveling, it's a bit more, which the classic is perfect for. (boxers, sandals, shorts, etc.) The classic also qualifies as a carry on, which is great. Meaning I can travel with just one bag.

(Unrelated - Exofficio underwear and Everyday Shorts are the best. It's literally everything you need. I have three pairs of shorts and underwear. You can swim in them, wear them out to dinner, hike, or go to the gym. When I travel, that's basically all I need.)

If I didn't go Saddleback for a briefcase, I'd probably go with a Filson. I think these look pretty cool and are versatile:

Water bottle is an odd necessity. A lot of courts / government agencies have water coolers but no cups. I guess it's how they save money. You can get scheduled for a court hearing at 10:00am but it won't actually start until 1pm or even later.

Don't know much about European style, though. Here in Philly people seem to like my bags. But I'm also in the construction industry. I drive a big pickup truck with a hardhat in the dash and listen to country music.

If it doesn't comfortably fit in my pants, it stays home unless it's an extra mission specific thing, in which case it goes in a bag or case suitable for the task. Never in a jacket because it's a piece that gets taken off inside or gets cloak roomed or hung on a chair. No way I'm leaving *essentials* in a jacket of any type in any place.

Wait, is it common knowledge that smartphones kill sperm when you keep your phone stashed in your front pocket? The fuck. Why haven't I heard of this before...

Summer - How do you carry your personal essentials

If it's hot I wear merino wool t-shirt which offsets the heat a bit and one of my thin real leather jacket (PUA outfit a must for daygame!)

My essentials are as follows:

- 2 condoms stored in a wallet pocket
- various pills in a wallet pocket
- some bank plastic in a wallet
- the keys I need to have, usually 2
- sunscreen and argan oil in 2 mini containers
- beeswax lipstick balm
- smartphone
- in-ear headphones
- dental chewing gums
- small powerbank (optional)
- short usb-c cable (optional)
- 1-2 Huel bars (optional)
- sunglasses (optional)
- floss (optional)
- tissues (optional)

All in jacket's pockets apart from the phone and the powerbank. If I really need to carry stuff (laptop, books, stationary, etc) than I take with me either my Osprey or Crumpler bag, depending on the load.

Summer - How do you carry your personal essentials

I used to carry my phone in my internal suit jacket pocket, but the weight of the phone along with the constant jostling around when I am on the move has caused the pocket and the material it is attached to to stretch. That and the unflattering lumps of having things in pockets (especially if your suit is tailored or fitted) has caused me to move away from storing things in pockets, save for a bank card.

I am also looking for something to carry essentials such as my phone, sunglasses, keys, etc.

I came across this video while doing some Googling.

Gotta love the name!
