There are so many interesting things in this video:
1. Could the SUV driver claim that they were afraid for their life in the first incident?
2. The guys that were chasing with a 2nd rider...great idea
3. The first time when the guy runs up and opens the door. Why the fuck would the SUV driver have their door UNLOCKED!
4. Should have stayed on the interstate, 4 ways on, on 911 crying like a baby.
5. With so many motorbikes I felt like I was watching Akira.

I walked past the TV as the news was starting. It went something like "a driver has been attacked by bikers with a baby in the car."

Actually NYC is one of the few first world cities I think an SUV is a great idea. Or at least a high clearance car. Doesn't have to be an SUV. The roads are so shocking that you need the high clearance so you don't damage the underside of your car.

My takeaway from this story is to carry a weapon everywhere, who knows when a situation like this is going to occur. I'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

If you pull in front of a vehicle and then slow down, you put your life in the hands of the person behind you. Yes, he "shouldn't hit you" but if he does, you put yourself there. And being "right" doesn't help if you end up the hospital trying to prove how right you are.

Just like when people are walking down a sidewalk in LA. People just walk and never check if a car is about to make a turn. Yes, the car shouldn't hit you, but be responsible and look to see if a car is coming. Don't ever leave your safety up to someone else hoping that "he should" or "he shouldn't have" defense helps you when you are in the hospital. I've been riding motorcycles over a decade and seen drivers do all kinds of stupid shit that would have been deserving of a beat down. This is not one of those cases.

If you watch the video the biker pulls in front of him and looks back at the SUV as he taps his brakes. He knew exactly what he was doing.

For anyone who has ever ridden, the beginning shows they are clearly paying no attention to lane etiquette as you do when riding in a group, and they are goading people by riding recklessly and attempting to instigate dangerous situations where the onus is on the other drivers, such as the RR driver, to modify their driving to avoid an accident, and clearly if escalated to an accident..

Such as in the beginning where the rider slows down so much he obviously gets clipped.

After they started chasing me, I would have started side-swiping those bikers one by one (after having started the video function on my phone with a voiceover talking about the obvious threat to my safety). Were the bikers posing a real threat to the occupants of the vehicle.

Let's say they stopped and came up to the car and started cursing at the driver. That's not an excuse to run anyone over.

I have been watching these guys in NYC for years. First off, they all suck at riding, none of them are good riders. Not just because they take risks, but because they are stupid and reckless not only hurting themselves but other people. They roll around in packs every weekend, on the sidewalks, everywhere. The NYPD needs to crack down on them with stop & frisk and arrest everyone on a dirtbike and quad that is unlicensed, that would take care of over 50% of them. It was just a matter of time before this happened. But as we have seen in NYC over and over again forever, car/bike/pedestrian accidents are not really a priority for the NYPD. The driver of the RR was just very unlucky that day.

I deal with this shit all the time by residing in a major city. You're bound to run into packs of road using vehicles of every variety bikers, bicyclists, scooter riders, skateboarders, etc. It's no different than taking a drive through the country side/national park and have your ride interrupted by a pack/herd of animals. You just stop/slow down and make them move along.
Sure that idiot goaded the Range Rover (there's a goader or three in every pack) that's when he should've put his hazards on, slow down, pull over, smile and wave them along. Especially with his family along, he's not Mad Max and this is not The Thunder Dome, yet.

You guys taking the bikers side are nuts. These dipshits had no reason to brake-check the RR. It's not like he was riding their ass or griefing them in any way whatsoever. Bikers are definitely the instigators here.

They crossed the line of risking harm to people and property, they are 100% culpable here. The RR even pulled over, in all likelihood to talk it out and deal with it rationally, and these dipshits started fucking up his ride. I would have done exactly as he did.

I understand the driver probably panicked, especially with his fam in the car, but if it were me I would have led them on a slow chase on the interstate until cops show up. And those guys that chased the RR afterward? In my mind it's fair game. I would have taken out as many of those motherfuckers as possible. If someone's attacking my car, I'm going to assume the worst and assume that they're out to get ME, and at that point it's life or death.

The guy got away with a few cuts and stitches, but this story EASILY could have resulted in a homicide. When you see the RR pull away and more of these bikers following him? I would have been swerving like a motherfucker trying to take out as many as I can. Hopefully blasting some Slayer or Pantera while doing so.
