Can someone break down this term? It gets thrown around a lot and i know the senior citizen members like mechanico get confused. Is it the same thing as a yuppie? Are white hipsters in their family tree?

SWPL is an acronym derived from the blog Stuff White People Like. "White people" referred to in the blog are for the most part middle/upper class white urban/suburban liberals. I don't see a lot of country folk, southerners, or conservatives identifying with the blog.

A middle-class, white (although I'm sure other races adopt other attributes of the term) liberal who is hugely into 'social justice', fighting on behalf of those they seem as underprivileged, gloating about their non-white friends and their love of ethnic cuisine. Basically the people we mock and have issues with on the forum.

It's the bourgeois counterpart to white trash. It's a stupid term considering that educated and liberal people in Western countries of all races can be SWPL in cultural terms. Honestly, the pair that got Pax fired look like they're SWPL in cultural terms, especially the girl. I don't think this is a pedantic point - do campus game at a good school and you'll see SWPL people of all flavors.

White trash on the other hand at least refers to a culture which is almost purely white.

I think it's weird that conservatives have adopted it because it uses the same language of race shaming of whites that they otherwise have an allergic reaction to.

Another point is that a lot of the cultural "stuff" liberal people are supposed to like, urban middle-class conservatives like also. The whole thing is a glorified Internet meme and needs to die an undignified death.

I think the term is meant to criticize a certain type/group of caucasian people. Hipsters, Yuppies, so on and so forth.
As anybody ever noticed that the majority of social activists tend to be middle class white's? I find it funny that the caucasian's in this group are quite vocal about non existent "social problems" and their stupid lifestyle, but you rarely see a person of color identifying with this stuff. Anybody that does, IMO, is too far gone in the Matrix.

Yeah I didn't know what that meant and will not remember tomorrow. Every time I see letters like that on here that I don't understand I just assume it means frustrated beta and post whatever response I feel like anyway.

the broadest definition imo is middle to upper middle-class white people who can be counted on to vote for the democrats.

Houston, I'm sure you've heard of the Stuff White People Like blog before. I don't think it's been updated in a while, but the site was hilarious and there was a lot of truth to the stereotypes of cushy, Prius-driving, green-supporting, Obama-voting, yoga-loving, hummus-eating, craft-beer drinking, indie-rock listening, urban white people. I know many people who fit that exact description, which is why the site was so hilarious to me. It was all so true.

Anytime you see an acronym you don't understand, I suggest looking it up on urbandictionary.com. Most of the time you will find it on there.

Was that a SWPL tip? Ha.

Reading that post made me think, and it's definitely been said before: These people want to be revolutionaries, but because the West is actually rather nice and pleasant they therefore have to start supporting fringe groups like trannies and so on, to give them something to 'feel' for. I think some of the debate on the recent religion thread got me thinking, that in the absence of something to believe in, certain people believe in 'everything'...hence cultural relativism being so strong with these types. That said, with a lot of these SWPL types, once they start accumulating wealth, they quickly discard such socialistic ideals. I should know, my Mum was a Communist when she was in University... But 1) She grew out of it, and.. 2) She (along with my Dad) became too comfortably middle/upper-middle class to possibly support that stuff. That's why I don't listen to young hardcore socialists, they're too wet behind the ears to understand what actually happens to the country they live in when their ideas actually get put into practice. They're not only unworkable, but would lead to the country changing from the tolerant, diverse etc places they (secretly) love being in to horrible places to live in.

I'm a bit drunk, so sorry if the above doesn't make as much sense as I'm intending it to!

TL/DR - People need to believe in something. In the absence of religion it is usually politics or some variant. I'm not religious, so I am passionate about anti-P.C, Game etc. With blue pill leftist people: In females, due to their inherent nurturing instincts it's usually things like being pro-asylum seeker etc (Especially white women - the 'whitey knows best' patriarchal nature of it is lost on them of course), whereas men are more prone to practical things like destroying banks etc.

The easiest way to get to the root of why these types are mocked is the HYPOCRISY and IGNORANCE behind their attitudes, actions, etc.

For example, I'm sure many forum members grew up as middle class, white, and in liberal areas of their respective countries, or may even vote for liberal parties.

That doesn't make them SWPL by any means.

Here is a list of cities where you can find SWPLs, at least in great numbers:

SWPL are bourgeois bohemian, liberal whites who looks down upon "bad whites" like conservatives. Half of the SWPL humor comes from the fact that these liberal whites want to be seen as different from the politically incorrect whites. Christian Lander (the creator of the site) is pretty hilarious.

Essentially, SWPL habits are like implicitly white cultural barriers, set up by a subset of white people to distinguish themselves.

Hipsters who have macbook pros, moleskin notebooks, "ironic" facial hair, sitting in a cafe working on an anthropology thesis about multiculturalism...yet live in the most segregated neighborhood in town.

I know quite a few people who fit that exact description, and the most hilarious part is, they think they're so unique and revolutionary.

I had no idea what it meant, but when seeing 'hip' acronyms in posts, like SWPL or tl;dr, I have started to ignore those post and keep scrolling down. I do the same when girls use text speak.

A couple is arguing over whether to drive their kids to the organic sustainable farmer's market in their hybrid car plastered with Obama and coexist stickers or to hook up one of those kid trailers to their bikes and put the kids in the back. The husband says that the bikes are more sustainable but the wife says that they have more bumper stickers on the car and that people should be given the opportunity to read the important messages on those stickers so they should take the car.

The wife is wearing hemp clothes while the husband has clothes that look like they came from a thrift store but really cost a lot. Both are advertised as sustainable. They sometimes argue over whether hemp or organic cotton has a higher carbon footprint.

What are you going to do about it?

I'd go as far as state that all RVF members possess some SWPL traits especially the liked ones you posted.

Like Tenerife says, the term when used by people like Roissy translates to "White Educated Liberal Bohemian". That's what I mean when I use it.
