If I get a girl back to mine, the deal is pretty much sealed before she steps through the door.
Don't sweat the idea of how your pad looks.
As long as it's clean and the logistics are cool (good privacy) etc you are good.

Design your pad for YOU, not her.

Having a cool bachelor pad would be good if, say, you are heavily into social circle game and throw a lot of parties at your place...but otherwise, I agree with everybody else. Make your place cool for yourself.

I have a 120 Gallon saltwater aquarium complete with corals, invertebrates, fishes and shit I can't even pronounce. Chicks love fishes and it's a perfect excuse for them to come back to the crib. However, In a place with high rents like NY and LA you don't even need to do all of that, the fact that you have a place on your own with no roommates already puts you in a whole different level.

"I am definitely cool with it. I'm just trying to come up with ideas to make it entertaining. Not every chic is going to walk in the door and want to go straight to the bedroom without even turning the lights on."
That's cool.
I guess, getting back to your original question, here are some ideas right off the top of my head:
-a wet bar
-comfy couches for lounging around in
-a Wii with the Wii sports game and/or Rockband or Guitar Hero + Xbox 360 or PS3
-an ample supply of weed (if you date "party girls")
-a hookah
-a stereo system
-a pool table (if you have a game room)
-various boardgames
-some cool "props" that show you have interesting hobbies (like a snow board)
-a gas grill (if you have a patio or balcony where you can put this)
-various healthy type snacks that chicks like (ex. hummus w/ pita bread)

A hookah is a great idea! Especially for a chic that's never smoked one before.

leave some porno lying around. when she picks it up, and shows any interest or curiosity at all, you can pop it on.
That actually works really well for "ambiguous friend" girls that you want to have sex with. They won't have the "act like a lady" defense up that a girl on a date might, and will feel more free to express their interest in the porn.
That method is tested and approved.

Another element of a right bachelor pad is not overdoing it. We were throwing a party at my new place and one of the girls I was with stumbled into my roommate's room while looking for the bathroom. Inside everything was ultra clean, there were lit candles and smooth jazz playing and my roommate was nowhere to be found.
When she saw it, she got super timid and said she felt freaked out. The thing that probably gave her the jump was the fact that the room was ready for zero to bang. A better bet would probably be to set up the music, candles, etc AFTER you bring someone back to make it feel more natural.

I have an outdoor shower that I owe the sex I had tonight to.
There are a bunch of bikinis and fancy soaps and shampoo bottles in there. Most of them are empty. I just watch to make sure that I carry the girls out so they leave the bathing suits in there so as to not diminish the supply. I don't know why, but there's a real big one that thank god is all dry and crusty. Lots of times when girls have their own, I still get them out and they wind up leaving them, and the cycle continues.
I think location is more important than anything else. I got a big screen tv and loud ass stereo but those rarely get turned on until the next morning. The best thing about my house is the beach. Instead of telling girls at the bar to come over and play with my lava lamp I tell them to come over and swim. It's either a clothing removing and into less, or just none at all type of activity.
The other thing I have is a hot tub I got off craigslist for $200. Girls love it. Again, it's a take your clothes off thing to do. The problem with it is now that I'm a little older I get in there, then I burn something, and get way to relaxed and just want to sleep. I think the best part of the hot tub was me learning how to do plumbing when I hooked it up. After that I re-did one bathroom and added another, the sex I got from it is secondary.
Aloha!

Adding to the list...Every guy should build a premium spirits collection and put it in a prominent spot in your pad. If you can find great liquors from abroad that are hard to find here, all the better. Especially if you've got stories about where you went to get it. I bought a large bottle of Capel Pisco from their distillery in the beautiful Elqui Valley in Chile. The bottle was a work of art itself, it was black and shaped like one of those stone Moai statues from Easter Island. I bought it but ended up giving it away to some buddies in Santiago. My backpack was so heavy I just couldn't lug around anymore non-essential shit for 2 months. But it would've looked great on my liquor shelf. I haven't seen any store in the U.S. that carries those.
From now on, wherever I go, I'm going to make it a point to bring back at least one top-shelf hard to find spirit that that countries specializes in. I regret not bringing back some top shelf cachaça from Brazil.

The best Cachaça is From MG - south of BA. There are Home made brands...
Ask a Mineiro (person from Minas - even in the hotel, they are great on this) where to find a Good Cachaça. They will show you not one, but several.

For me, it doesnt matter what your home looks like. I keep a small 2 room place in xiamen that i am rarely in since i travel often. The only things that i have use for are some dice cups for drinking games, beer, and whatever kind of liquor i can find for mixing, a pc with decent collection of songs and movies, and a wii. Works good enough for me.
