This is a white paper from last year (2012) about the demographic and economic growth in China's emerging mega cities. Most of these cities are in the center and west of the traditional Han homeland (when they refer to "the West" they don't mean Xinjiang). The differences in age demographics and growth projections in disposable income levels in each of these city clusters is huge and in need of further study for all would-be entrepreneurs. Each of China's 13 growing megalopolises represents a potential market size equivalent to that of a small country where tremendous opportunities can be had for those who play their cards right.

I haven't seen this posted on here but thought it would be a good share for others considering a move to China or pursuits of an entrepreneurial nature.

Just a side note: I'm looking at Zhengzhou as a potential move as I've been offered a well-paying teaching position there. Does anyone have any experience in and around that city? The closest I've been is Luoyang (shithole).

I stopped by there a few times back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Don't know much about it now though. Things change too fast in that country.

Anyways, the place has typical sub-tropical monsoon seasonal weather. The winters are dry but not that cold and the summers are wet but not that hot. All in all an okay place climate wise.

In addition, the place has a lot of historical monuments there. The city is the capital of the Shang dynasty, literally the first recorded Chinese empire, and some of that shit is still standing today after all those thousands of years.

They also had a decent amount of universities and polytechnics which I'm sure they've expanded in the recent years. Go crazy playa.
