The Business Partner Thread

-

In the past few years I've sourced a range of clientele, business partners, developers/designers, and friends off of RVF.

There also seems to be a bunch of threads that revolve around "do you need an investment?" .... or "Looking for a technical partner to help me do this project"

I think that it makes sense to have a thread that is dedicated to matching people up for potential business ventures.

Thus, I think this is a good place to list the following kind of info:

1. What value you have to offer

-Investor
-Developer
-Designer
-Growth Hacker
-SEO specialist
-Business development
-Import/Export
-High Traffic Blog / Affiliate Partner
-Offering internship
-Seeking internship
-CFO/accounting/finance
-Social Media Marketer
-Film maker - can shoot cool promo videos for products/blogs

2. What you are looking for or could benefit from

-Capital
-Technical Partner
-Freelance Developer
-Affiliates
-Products to promote
-People to source goods from (import/export)
-Free design work as an internship

3. Projects you have going on or projects you'd like to find help for

-"Want to build a mobile app that will translate Japanese - need a technical partner"

-"Want to import coconut oil into Guangzhou - need a supplier in SE Asia"

-"Have an idea to build a platform for cosmetic surgery tourism in Latin America and need $20K to get it off the ground"

-"Have a blog with a mailing list of 1500 people, looking for products to promote as an affiliate"

-"Looking for an intern for my internet company - will cover flight and housing in Bangkok/Medellin for 6 months"

-------

Let's build some businesses!

I'll kick it off.

PROJECT 1

I am seeking someone skilled at making promotional videos from scratch along the lines of this:

Either you will shoot these videos yourself or compile stock footage clips from the web to create a compilation trailer.

You will be making videos for digital information products that cover a range of topics related to business and entrepreneurship.

PROJECT 2

I am looking to do a joint venture with someone who has successfully paid off an insane amount of student loan debt in a short period of time.

I'm talking about 50K-100K in a 1-3 year time span.

This is a digital information product in the format of a membership website.

PROJECT 3

I am looking for a developer who is proficient in the mobile app space - I don't have a specific project in mind at the moment but want to kick around ideas.

Great idea

I will be looking for an investor/business partner, but not until I got this show on the road and trading. They will be China based or with solid experience here. Will post up full details when I'm ready to go.

I can offer product scouring assistance in Chongqing/Sichuan region.

YMG, no offense, but you seem to be in a lot of different projects. For me, I would expect my business partner to make our project a priority.

No offense taken.

CLARIFICATION

1. Project 1 and Project 3 - I am looking for a contractor or freelancer to do paid work for me. Not a business partner for these.

2. Project 2 - This is a JV for a product - NOT for a venture or company. The entire timeline of this project is 4-8 weeks and would not require a full time commitment from either party, given the systems I've put in place for the product creation process.

Your reaction to want full commitment from a partner is the correct reaction - if we were launching a company together.

In contrast, this is a digital information product and I have the virtual assistants/labor in place to execute this specific project without a 100% time commitment to it. I am not expecting YOU to have a 100% time commitment to this project either.

I would also be bringing capital to the table to finance copywriting and video production (see above).

Let me know if this clarifies things at all.

For people who don't know, many entrepreneurial opportunities are shifting inland from the coastal cities in China to the major inland cities along the Yangtze. Second tier coastal cities are going to continue being important as well.

Chinadawg, I get the feeling that we are going to be talking a lot once you hit Chongqing. I've been keeping my eye on that region for a long time.

Repped +1 for your PM advice.

Yeah, when talking about business partners I assumed it was for a company. I don't really see a jv the same way which is where the confusion kicked in.

No, you were correct - I should not have used the term "JV" in this context, as it means "Joint Venture" - implying a company.

I should have said "Product Collaboration"

No, I think Joint Venture was the right term.

I did one with another marketer for a small software program. He did a lot of the copy and I put together the software. I also had my graphics guy do the sales page graphics. I put together a quick intro video for the product as well.

It turned out pretty cool and it was fun working with him. That JV was more about the experience for me and something that I could share with my other customers.

You can make some good money doing stuff like that. I did it that one time because I am focused on a bigger project that is more profitable.

If you can find the people with the right skill set, the jv should do great.

WorldWideTraveler - it sounds like the skills/expertise you have to offer to potential partners is development and design?

Is this for web apps? Mobile? What is your range of talents?

I've had to learn skills in pretty much everything from copywriting, design, product creation, traffic, etc...

That apps I am building right now are desktop since they require more processing.

I have a big web app that I plan on doing but that will be started in a year or two. I have projects that need to be finished which will setup the customer base for the web app.

I wish I had time for some jv deals since I had such a great time doing one before and enjoy working with other entrepreneurs. I just never run out of ideas, only time. heh

Cheers for the rep!

Thanks also for the quick breakdown of trends in Chinese entrepreneurship. Massive opportunities in these inland cities, it won't be an overnight thing but if you play your cards right and are in it for the long haul then there is serious bread to be made. I look forward to talking more with you YMG.

Wuhan should be on that list for sure. If you are selling nationwide in China that's the place to locate your distribution hub. Smack bang in the middle of the Chinese heartland, on the Yangzte and now just a four hour train ride from both Beijing and Guangzhou, with new high speed lines being built to the East and West.

Still looking on video creation people.

Does general debt count? I'm in the process of paying down a 100k debt and my goal is to pay it off in 1-1.5 years tops.

Thanks for answering VP.

I just mentioned in the earlier comment that I've secured someone for this project as of last night.

Also I was looking for people who have already paid off a giant sum of debt - not people who are currently in debt. Also we were targeting student loans.

100K? Wow. Maybe you should check out the oil fields.

When you DO pay off that 100K in 1 year, let me know how you did it and we can talk for sure.

Members from Europe (specially nordic countries, Netherlands and Germany) who are hustlers looking to make side money (around 10k euros per year) get in touch. I can't say on here what I am looking for but it aint nothing to do with drugs or shit like that, just a small good hustle.

Staros could you go into more details about your video production? What sorts of videos could you create?

If you are unsure about publicly putting your portfolio up here, maybe you can show us some vids that are commensurate to your skill level?

I am working as an authorized distributor of Oil & Diesel Lubricants, Diesel Additives, Gear Oils, Hydraulic Oils, Gear Lube, Kerosene, Diesel Fuel, Etc.
Export Worldwide from Port of Charleston, SC and Houston, TX. I can also sell domestically but I'd rather stick with exports for now. If anyone's interested in using their international connections to make some easy scratch then PM me. Think almost every chemical/Petroleum based lubricant you can buy at Autozone/Pepboys. I also have access to Diesel and Kerosene as mentioned above. All manufactured and packaged in USA.

What about automotive parts?

Gringo entrepreneur friends of mine in Medellin and Peru are constantly bringing up two points to me:

1. Automotive parts are in short supply and high demand in Colombia/peru

2. There is a free trade agreement between Colombia/Peru/Chile and the United States.

I smell ecommerce opportunities.

I'm working on getting in with an auto manufacturer but he is already global and may not need me. I know about the trade agreements we have with he rest of the world and I'm working on exploiting them now. Auto Parts would be sweet but you can get so many parts from mexico for much cheaper than USA parts although people trust USA parts more.

YMG, What are your thoughts on Alibaba.com for ecommerce vs its competitors? I hear mixed reviews about it.
