Caffeine overdose

Caffeine overdose

I was out on a date the other night and started feeling ill. I didn't know what was wrong but I had to end the date and go home. I felt like crap that whole night and the whole next day. I had to cancel another date. It was really terrible. It took me awhile to figure out what happened. But what happened was that I had taken too much caffeine and was suffering from a caffeine overdose. If you don't drink coffee on a regular basis it's easy to do this by drinking too many energy drinks. It's also a lot easier to do if you mix energy drinks with alcohol. What really did me in was that I took a 200mg caffeine pill after I had already had some energy drinks. These pills hit your system immediately and unlike drinks or coffee your body don't get the time to digest them properly.

Anyway, be careful about how much caffeine you are taking. Too much and it can mess you up for a day or two. It basically feels like food poisoning.

Thanks. I have taken a single pill before without any problems. What I forgot was that energy drinks already contain a lot of caffeine, so these plus the pill was too much. I am feeling better now, on day 2 but I still feel a little ill so I am not completely ok as yet.

The feds are on the verge of banning the sale of Monster (and presumably other energy drinks like Rockstar and Red Bull) to minors in the U.S. The American Medical Association has recommended it and after the move by San Francisco to try to prohibit it, it looks like a fait accompli.

I agree you got to be careful but it's a shame that we've come to rely upon the government for basic issues of common sense like this.

Well, I didn't know you could overdose on caffeine until it happened to me.

Yeah, I didn't mean it like that. Actually I was probably half-way to overdosing yesterday, doing coffee, espresso's, and energy drinks all day then red bull at night.

Aside from the risk of overdosing, caffeine can also be an issue with people with high blood pressure. For whatever reason, despite being in good shape I have high bp, so I should watch it.

I did a lot of caffeine in college but I never OD'd by definition. I definitely felt like my heart was on overdrive though after some all nighters... all I can recommend is try to stay away from the caffeine pills and energy drinks. Red bull isn't too bad, but those other large energy drinks are packed with so much shit it always makes me feel jittery even after one or two.

Energy drinks are really bad for you too.

What were your symptoms ?

If you OD'd you would of had bad heartburn and runny stools as caffeine is a laxative. Heart up, tense and tight chest while feeling dizzy.

Some folks are more sensitive than others, taurine helps keep the bad jitters always when I take Caffeine. For energy drinks the sugar is way worse for you as it dehydrates you and makes you way more prone to the bad symptoms above.
