It`s not only about the strength of the light, its about the amount of blue light.

Blue light is supposed to suppress melatonin production.

I use a warm colored/low light lamp when i'm working at night/early in the morning so I don't blind myself. I just installed this and the default it picked matched the light I use for my reading lamp. Same idea I guess!

Working with 9.3K (quite blue colors), I don't get sleepy in front of the computer screen. Flux tones it down to 6.5? Makes getting tired easier.

If I'm not doing anything with photos or such where I have to color-match, I set the app to change the color temperature to Tungsten at night. I think that's about 2700K?

For reference, most "daylight" lamps are at 5000K - 6500K.

After about a day of testing, it definitely makes the screen easier to look at during the later hours. I did fall asleep pretty early, but I have been trying to get into a normal routine and physical tired myself out beforehand also, so it could be any of those things. At this stage I intend to keep testing it

Bump. Do you need to adjust any settings or options? Or can you just enter your city and be good to go? Thanks every one.

Careful if you are a designer - clients might complain the colors are off. What you can do is disable flux for certain applications e.g. Photoshop.

I put it on my iPhone and the difference at night is massive, I've accidentally fallen asleep while using it.

Aware, I've been constantly using it for several years already. I forget that I even have this program. Sometimes my explorer or whatever program might crash and it would also crash f.lux and then I would suddenly remember that I have it because I'd get this jarring flash of bright light that the monitor usually emits during the day and really see the contrast of having a barely perceivable beige warm hue over that cold blue-white color

Thank you for this find, I just installed it today my eyes feel relieved.

I spend the entire day on the computer (computer science) I must admit it is a bit hard getting used to the change, must be because i'm already so used to the blinding blue light of the monitor

Flux works on my laptop, but not for my iPhone 5s. I believe you have to have it unlocked to download Flux.

I usually just dim my phone screen late at night…what do you guys do without unlocking your iPhone?

For iPhone/iPad (took me a while to figure this out) if you enable zoom in accessibility settings, you can reduce the brightness much more than in normal mode.

Thank you Snow Hugger. I disabled F Lux to compare the colors and couldnt believe how bright it was. I will not ever disable again unless I am watching a movie. I did notice I did not get a headache like I usually do after laying with my laptop close. Check out the red from the laptop when you turn the lights off..

I adjust. The updates over the years give a ton of control for f.lux users. I like mine screen very dim at night and even a bit dimmer on the daytime than normal.

I've been using f.lux for at least 3 years, can't recall exactly when I started but I'm a big fan.

Current version is way better than it was when I first downloaded it, much more control and way more options.

What is better for me than f lux is high contrast mode to make everything dark, plus the deluminate Chrome plugin. White text on black background is the way to go. Staring at a mostly white screen is just painful to the eyes

I've had this on my laptop for a few years now. I have noticed a huge difference In sleeping times. And it's free, which is the best price.
