Another Rape Accusation Turns Out To Be Shady

http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2013...h-parsons/

OP is getting a lot of flack for this article, largely because cyber-bully is big in the news right now (i.e. a ramp up as a way to limit our freedom of speech), it's Canada so there are lots of angry womyn and Anonymous has been involved, trying to met out justice with zero standard of proof.

I'll just say this; this shit infuriates me for one simple reason. A friend of mine was raped in the past and it was a real, violent, traumatic attack. A part of her is forever damaged, if not dead, because of what happened. Every time some girl gets drunk, fucks a guy (or two) in this case, regrets it and then cries rape, it cheapens the severity of what happened to actual rape victims who suffered horribly at the hands of real rapists.

Imagine if Anonymous really did reveal the names of her "attackers" and then it came out that, well, it really was consensual and there was no case against them. Their lives would have been ruined.

Thanks for posting the link, I always find these teen suicide stories after alledged "cyber bullying" to be interesting because it shows that some people want to do mobjustice and shows the fact that the parents and media never (except in this case) show the other side of the story.

Here in BC last fall another story emerged about Amanda Todd, another girl that the media and mother claimed she killed herself due to cyberbullying, except for the fact that the cyber event wasn't what pushed her over the edge (She slept with some girl's boyfriend, then the girl and her friends beat her up for it). Every month Todd's mother comes back on the tv to solicit donations for the Todd fund and to talk typical sentimental stuff.

Not to mention a lot of these cases point out at a lack of firm parenting.

I wonder if Todd's mom pulls a salary from the non profit for running it? Maybe it's in her best interest to keep pushing the cyber bullying crap for her own personal gain.

EDIT: Just read the story. Jesus Christ that is ridiculous. Those poor fucking kids I'm sure have been scared shitless for months wondering if they were going to go to prison. Not to mention how much money and resources was wasted on what is obviously a lie to save face. Her girlfriend confirms it. And then the piece of shit woman officer wants to charge them with child pornography?

"The officer then turned her mind to a possible child-pornography charge, so the prosecutor referred her to a colleague, one of two PPS specialists in cyber crime, particularly as it relates to child pornography."

Ridiculous. Everyone is up in arms about the bullying that girl received, but I could imagine the boys have had it just as hard as she did. Not to mention the fact that they had a long prison sentence and being a registered sex offender hanging over their heads.

This story has been all over the news. No surprise Blatchford decides to take a swing at it. Blatchford can be well... a bitch... but she has a heavy views that ring true a lot of time.

But a handclap for her on this. She also wrote the Op-Ed on Toronto Men being "sissies" last year that caused a fire storm larger the then Roosh's a few months back:

Christie Blatchford: Toronto, City of Sissies

Follow twitter on her right (#Blatchford, #Parsons) now and see she gets the same treatment as anybody else whom tries to crack the glass statue of Feminism and female protection. They call her a ugly troll but never dispute her facts other then the fact they think she is unprofessional for professionally not stating her exact sources in her piece. No news reporter does it especially in a toxic case that has legal implications.. why would you?

I have a lot to say on the Parsons case. She is definitive queen of Selfishness, so selfish that when her self-image became tainted by her obsessions of only caring about her self she naturally did what all overly selfish people do and disregard that she has friends and family and take her own life.

Reminds me of a person I went to high school with. He was drunk and yelled out the window of his buddies car to some girls that were barely underage and he said something like "I wanna fuck your tits". They recorded the license plate abd reported it, long story short that guy is on the sex offenders list now. He did this when he was 18-19.

Thanks for posting. Your post title is shitty, something specific like 'Rehtaeh Parson's Accusation Of Rape Is Starting To Look Shady" would be more appropriate.

I don't see a reason to hate the officer. It sounds as if she did her exact job: investigated the possible crimes which would have been committed if the complaining witness' account was truthful, observed the available evidence, and determined the complaint to be unfounded or unprovable. If you want to direct your ire somewhere, aim it at legislatures that criminalize sexting and sexual pictures of teenagers with the same contempt as exploitative child porn.

Depends if the role of the police is to enforce the law or serve the public good.

Does it serve the public good to crack down on male sexuality and zealously prosecute normal teenage activity as sex offences? Most laws have almost no impact unless enforced.

You're describing a politically untenable situation for a police department once the people of a particular jurisdiction - and, by extension, their legislative body - catch a case of butthurt over a perceived monster in the closet.

I agree with you, but just because their actions can be justified doesn't mean they're right.

Is this is a situation where speaking out against it will help? Anonymity for all involved should be the default position, there's just too much evidence that accusations alone wreck lives.

Even if they have the best lawyer in the world who rips the prosecution case apart, there will still be people who think they're "making the poor girl suffer twice".

I don't know how anybody misses the obvious bullying in the Amanda Todd case unless you're intentionally trying to bury your head to not see it. The cyber event was just one aspect of the cyber bullying that went on, you make it sound like the beating happened, life went on and she just couldn't get over it...they found her online city to city, school to school, spread bullshit harassed her, this was consistent unrelenting bullying. Todd may not have been an angel but this was certainly not her fault. If my kid died after that kind of treatment bet your ass i'd be campaigning so that shit didn't happen again to some other kid...were you equally as upset by Chuck and Donna Cadman becoming MPs after their son was killed and they decided to get political? This is just what some parents do.

MikeyMike PM me if you want to discuss it further.

Jesse Cadman's death was greatly different from the Todd case. I applaud both Dona and Chuck's advocacy and work with Vancouver suburban youth.

Comparing apples to oranges with Todd and Cadman.

I agree. I feel bad for women who were actually raped when this rape hysteria and fake stories circulate around everywhere. I don't know if this story is true and that's sad. Girls lie so much that you can't even believe them when they say were raped. Just another reason I always use a fake name and age in case a girl gets mad when I stop texting them after I get bored.

Another Rape Accusation Turns Out To Be Shady

This is a pretty sad story and has been all over my facebook for a couple of weeks now because it took place in my home town. People down home are going bonkers over this and calling for the Mountie's heads, Stephen Harper's head (of course) and especially the four guys involved. I've seen multiple posts of a picture with the four guys faces and the posts are basically calling for these guys to be killed and "get whats coming to them." Of course, no one considers the fact that the professionals who investigated the case threw it out of court and obviously there's no way the girl could have lied.

So these same hypocrites who go on about on-line bullying are doing the exact same thing, worse actually, these guys will probably have to move away from Halifax because even after the smoke clears, their reps are fucked no matter what.

Again, sad story and its very unfortunate that this girl decided to take her own life over this, I sure am glad social media and smart phones weren't around in the late 90s.
