I will be sitting on my couch naked with several ultra-feminist, overweight Toronto women cheering the raptors to the 8th seed in the east! Cheers!

The NBA is so sloppy with calls at times, Kobe took a few extra steps there no doubt lol.

I'm a referee. That was not a travel. It's really not even close to being a travel.

No offense, just sayin..

I'll take your word for it then.

You're right, the NBA does allow alot of travels. (However, this Kobe spin move into a "stride-stop" is not one)(Notice how none of the opposing players, coaches, or fans complain about it)(Did the announcers complain about it??)( I doubt it?)

The NBA is a business -- an entertainment business. The average fan doesn't even know what a travel is and would rather see the offense player finish their move then see the player get called for a travel. It's all about entertaining the average fan and producing the most entertaining product for mass consumption.

Personally, I would like to see more travels called, but, I understand that its a business decision.

Often times, offensive players make a move that looks like a travel or is close to a travel -- but, is really not a travel. For example, many fans still think the "Euro-step" is a travel. Of course, more knowledgeable fans know that it's not.

More info on traveling here:

Good to have one of these. My teams are OKC and Spurs. OKC because they have two of the youngest and most exciting players and are always interesting to watch, and the Spurs because team basketball is exciting. Watching them pass up good shots to get great shots and always looking for the open man is the truest form of basketball.

I think the Heat will make it the finals again, but the east has been extremely weak this year, and they're basically getting a free pass. With their current streak, I do wonder if they will tire themselves out.

I think we'll see a Spurs vs. Heat finals. If any team can beat the Heat, it's the spurs. They play the kind of basketball it takes to beat the heat. Always passing and looking for the best shots, low post threats in Duncan and Splitter, a point guard who loves driving and getting into the paint which should be easy since the Heat have zero interior defense, best coach in basketball right now, and tough defense.

While I would prefer if OKC were to make it to the finals, I don't think they will this year. James Harden bailed them out last year against the Spurs, and I don't see them being able to beat them in a series again. And if they did, they can't beat the Heat. They NEED to get a low post scorer this offseason. It's their one huge glaring weakness. Al Jefferson will be on the market, but they probably won't be able to afford him and keep Kevin Martin.

Is it just me, or is the Heat's winning streak so overrated. who have they beaten in the last 27 games? the NBA is so watered down it makes me sick. There is no way this years Heat is as good as the Bulls of the 90's, or the Celtics and Lakers of the 80's. ESPN are making the heat out to be the greatest team ever. its almost as if everyone only knows and remembers what they've seen in the last 30 minutes. oh well, i just had to get that out there.

OKC in OKC, MEM, HOU, LAC, LAL, ATL X 2, IND, BOS in BOS, NYK in NYK and CHI in CHI.

Granted, they have played the bottom feeders over the last 4 games but over the 27 games they have played good teams.

Its just you.

You have to remember, this is still the NBA - the best in the world. The other guys get paid millions to beat them and also have pride as professionals to try and break the streak every night.

What they are doing is impressive and testament to Lebron's brilliance.

Ha! It's 27 games! I don't care if they played Charlotte they played all 27 games, it's still 27 games! You know how many teams have done that in the history of basketball? 1! Over rated? I think not.

Good thread

The Sixers is the home team and Kobe played highschool ball in philly so im a Lakers fan aswell. Actually not really a lakers fan I just want to see Kobe add another chip to the collection.

Cant stand Lebron or The Heat.

IMO Pat Rileys move to bring wade bron and bosh together was bad for basketball.

I love the Rubio kid ... I like OKC , Westbrook is hungry for a title , seems like he wants it more than KD .. he cant dress for shit tho lol

Chris paul is a beast

Kyrie Irving & Rubio are the point guards of the future

But what do I know?

27 Games isnt overrated imo

I actually think the heats winning streak is more of a testament to the lack of talent league wide then the heat being that much better.

Dont get me wrong as much as I hate the heat theyre is no denying their talent, even if thier coach is below average.

I agree Bosh is soft as fuck..

As opposed to Lakers always starting loaded teams (save for a brief stretch from 04-07 and Kobe wanted out) or the Bulls in the 1990s, or even the Celtics in the 1980s.

Championship teams have always been loaded with stars save for a few exceptions such as the Pistons or even the Mavs in 2011. The only difference is that this was done through free agency. Usually it's done through drafts and trades. Super teams have always existed, the only reason that this is different is that this time players made the choice and LeBron did the idiotic Decision (even if that raised quite a bit of money for charity) and then not 1 not 2.....statement. This turned quite a lot of people off the Heat and that's understandable. But a lot of the hoopla over "collusion" or being bad for basketball or being unfair is just empty rhetoric because it's always been this way.

Other than that, whether it's the Heat or Lakers or Celtics or OKC or Spurs, championship teams will always have multiple stars.

give me the heat winning again. as much as i hate to say it, they look unstoppable right now and it would take a serious injury to one of their big 3 for it to be closer.

i think the spurs or thunder come out of the west.

as for why the thunder gave up james harden:

1) kevin martin is an expiring contract - salary cap space
2) they have a lottery coming from houston by way of toronto (kyle lowry trade)
3) several other 1st round draft picks from houston
4) they didnt have the money to pay harden without jumping into the luxury tax (rob pelinka would have settled for nothing less than a max contract for his client)

same presti and his group have done a solid job drafting. and the thunder keep moving on. they might not win this year, but theyre better equipped than any other team to challenge the heat right now.

The Thunder must have the most loyal fans in the sport. Every night that stadium seems to be sold out, and they go wild! I like the Thunder. KD is the man, he just needs to step up his leading role.

Here's a thought for discussion:

Let's talk about role players we enjoy watching. Enough talk about the stars. I'm a huge basketball junkie, I can literally talk for hours about it.

I've got mad respect for J.R. Smith. Yeah, he's kinda crazy and makes boneheaded decisions. But his poor judgment is really the only thing that is holding him back from being an all-star. The dude has just crazy amounts of talent, and one of the most beautiful jump shots in the game.

I also like Kirk Hinrich. He's a white dude who plays like a black player.

Nate Robinson: he's crazy, he make bad decisions, and he might lose you the game. But the dude has mad swag and mad heart. Also scored the game clinching basket tonight.

Thanks for posting this.

Now, we all know exactly why the Thunder let James Harden go.

He's the best player on the team, but Westbrook usually takes the leading role.

Everybody expects the ball to go to Durant late and he's established as the closer. Westbrook does sometimes take errant shots late but for the most part he defers to Durant as well especially in the clutch. Check out this article on NBA.com about Durant's leadership.

I respectfully disagree with the last part of that sentence. Those teams had stars on them.

The Pistons won the 2 championships with Isaiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Adrian Dantly, Dennis Rodman, etc. They had stars.

You are probably talking about the 2004 Pistons championship team. They had Chancey Billups, Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince, Ben Wallace, etc. They had stars.

The Mavs won it in 2011 with Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion, Tyson Chandler, etc. They had stars.

I don't think a team can win an NBA championship without 2-3 stars. Go back and look at the history of the NBA champions. Every championship team has stars on it. It's a star driven league.

Yeah, I was talking about the 2000s Pistons rather than the "Bad-Boys" Pistons. That 2000s team did not have multiple superstars. Neither did the 2011 Mavs. They had Dirk and a really good supporting cast but not two or three stars.

I am not sure where we disagree, since I said in my previous post:

I was replying to TheCool's argument that what Miami did was bad for basketball and I replied saying that almost all championship teams have multiple superstars, so we are definitely in agreement there.

The 2000s Pistons and 2011 Mavs tweaked the formula a little since they had one superstar with an incredible surrounding cast that fit. Other than that, yeah, all championship teams will have multiple superstars. No disagreement there.

I'm not trying to argue with you.

I just disagree.

The 2004 Pistons had multiple stars -- Chancey Billups (Starter on the US National team) - Rasheed Wallace (All Star) - Ben Wallace (Defensive player of the year) - Tayshaun Prince (National team member, one of the best defenders in the league at that time) That's 2 national team members, The defensive player of the year, and multiple All-Stars.

The 2011 Mavs had multiple stars -- Dirk (MVP of the league) - Jason Kidd (One of the best guards of all time/Hall of Famer) - Tyson Chandler (Defensive player of the year) - Shawn Marion (All Star) - Jason Terry (6th man of the year) Thats the MVP, The Defensive Player of the Year, The 6th Man of the Year, and multiple ALL Stars.

You are saying these teams only had 1 star, yet, these teams had mulitple All Stars???

And, they both had the Defensive Players of the Year in their starting lineups.

I guess we just disagree on what is a "star"???

That's why I listed their names and accomplishments for their championship season.

Not trying to argue with you, I just like breaking this stuff down!
