We'll have to agree to disagree, mate. There's some ridiculous skill I've seen with football that you may not have, and vice versa. As far as baseball goes though, I think it's pretty one dimensional. Happy to be proved wrong though.

I have mad respect for soccer/football and think there is a ton of talent involved. But man, football (American football) and basketball athletes in the US are just straight up beasts. Imagine if Lebron James or Adrian Peterson decided to play soccer rather than football or basketball. These dudes are just straight up athletes. That's the reason the US soccer team isn't good. All of our good athletes play football, basketball, or soccer. But I'm not gonna sit here and say that one sport takes more talent than the other, because all of those sports take their own type of skill.

Yeah, you should maybe try playing Baseball at a somewhat competitive level, it isn't as easy as it looks. Hitting an average of 0.3+ in Baseball is ridiculous, you need a lot of skill in being able to judge where/when to hit, in the space of a fraction of a second where you can barely see the ball. Obviously football at the highest levels requires a ridiculous amount of skill as well, but in terms of judging which needs more it'd be tough to find a totally unbiased opinion from someone who knows what they're talking about.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a better overall athlete than pretty much any sportsman right now. One of the most supreme athletes in history in any sport. Of course, this is sort of unfair, as medical advancements etc mean athletes get better with every passing year - It's one of the reasons I get pissed with people who say the Klitshckos would be crap in any other era. Bojangles will hopefully help me out with this point about Ronaldo. Sure, he wouldn't win a fight against some NFL guy, but on overall athleticism and his other genetic attributes, like coordination etc, he's incredible.

Football (soccer) players are not built like NFL stars for good reason.

If you want a fair comparison match your guys to the rugby players.

Rugby players are built for both explosiveness AND power etc...but with endurance. NFL guys are bigger and more explosive but lack the endurance due to the stop-start nature of that game.

I think Ronaldo is the greatest player of all time. He has already done it in the Premier League - which is something I am not sure Messi would be able to do. And unlike Messi - he has done it in teams that didn't contain the bulk of possibly the most succesful international side of all time.

I actually predicted he would be the greatest player of all time when he first joined Man Untd as a skinny teenager. The first time I saw him I realised I had never seen a player who could humiliate defenders in such devastating style.

But - the one thing I didn't predict was the impressive physique and fitness levels he would develop. That is testament to his desire to be the best.
