It was 300THB a bucket when I was there last year too. A big increase from the 200THB it was when I was there five years ago. I think as the islands become more and more popular the prices are just gradually creeping up.

Though approx 7euro for 350ml of whiskey and 3 Red Bulls is still great value compared to prices most other places in the world, I guess.

For the most part, European travel thins out at the beginning of Sept, with August probably being the best rainy season month for Europeans. I've had more success in the past with Euro girls in Aug than any other month, but don't know why; Dec - Mar, as well as Loy Kratong week in Nov and Songkran in April still has more Euro girls and other tourist girls than July & Aug.

Note that the rainy season, Oct, Nov,Dec in the Gulf islands of Chumphon & Surat Thani (Samui, Tao, Phangan) is different from the rainy season May - Oct of the Andaman islands - Phuket, Phi Phi, Lanta. That said, it's still hot, the water is warm and it's not like it rains all day for days on end, as a result there are still a few hot Euro girls year round.

If you meet a girl, who you want to keep around for a few weeks screw all those other islands and go to Koh Kut, off the coast of the Thai/Cambo border, but pussies on this forum who are scared to ride a scooter/motorbike, take note, you need one on this island.

What Kamaki4 wrote is spot on. Generally speaking, if you're looking for young euro girls, July-August are the best months as they are when 90% of students or part time workers go on holiday. I wouldn't know how the other months compare in terms of quality or origin of girls however. Refer to Qwest's OP for that.

I just was 1 week on the islands and those are my impressions:

Koi Samui: Was there for 1 day only on the chaweng beach. Beach is not so nice because it is cramped with hotels. Havent seen the rest of the island so dont really know about samui. Party is at the chaweng beach bars. Some nice asian girls, many western guys and some western girls, most of them unattractive and not easy. would not come again.

Ko Phangan: Was there at the full moon party. Beach better than chaweng beach. Have not seen the rest of the island so dont really know about phangan. Full moon party is basically like beach party evwhery in the world, but only 1 time in the month. overhyped. Its fun to party for sure, but not if you want to lay western girls. Some nice asian girls. But sausage fest and the quality of the white girls were extrlemy bad!! Banged 2 asian chicks. Game: Be blonde

Ko Tao: By far I liked this island the most of the 3. Its really small but 5 days werent enough to see all of it. I would recommend to rent a scooter do drive around. It is so much fun and gives you more mobility. I would stay next to the sairee beach. Its the biggest beach, and nice. You can just lay there on the beach(not too many tourists). The water is clear and warm. And the bars are in that area.

Go to the freedom beach and shark bay for snorcheling. After 1 meter you can already see fishes! nice experience. I even saw a shark!

Love ko tao and don juan are very beaituful view points. You get the postcard dream photos there.

Girls/Party: Few asian girls, mostly white girls. I didnt want any asian girls because Iam not into them. I was bit screwed because tinder doenst really work on ko tao.I layed 1 whtie girls in 3 nights of party. Its lots of men and mediocre quality of girls, but much better than in pangan or samui. Most girls are not easy, but some are and you have to find them before others find them.

Conclusion: for girls mediocre. May be different in january. For beach life near perfect.

Season for Thailand is over. No more Scandis, Germans and other Europeans I would guess. Maybe Israelis.
