Bogota, Colombia?

I am thinking about traveling to Bogota, Colombia - Girls, nightlife, living costs (how much for an apartment downtown close to nightlife)? Any info about Bogota would be great! Thanks in advance.

You're gonna need some more specifics. Where do you mean by 'downtown'? Ana rosa I assume? Are you looking for an apartment or just a room to rent? How is your Spanish?, that'll determine if you can avoid paying a 'gringo tax'. Would you consider north chapinero, chapinero, calle 100 and north for apartments?

Remember, bogota runs around 11 million people. Nightlife is everywhere, it's more about which nightlife you choose, and a lot of that is pre determined by your Spanish and budget. If you narrow your criteria and give specifics, people can help you out more.

In my (biased) opinion, Bogota is the most miserable city in Colombia. It's only good for making money and getting stuck. If you don't mind the question, why are you going there?

everyones tastes are different....In my opinion Bogota is an awesome city....action upon action.....along with so many options....it takes time to figure out, traffic is a pain, and it is not for those that dont like big sprawling dirty cities......but there is more going on here that just making money and getting stuck....a lot more

OP....you do need to be more specific....

Most of the colombians I've spoken to say that Bogota is awesome but that its not the best place in Colombia for a few reasons (Sheer mass of city, climate, girls, etc.) but I'm sure its still better than anywhere in England for these things hahahahahaha

I haven’t been to Bogota in a long time, but it’s the capital city which means that you will find women there from all over Colombia. I use to stay in serviced apartments, which I would rent by the week. It was cheaper than a hotel and included more space than a hotel and had a kitchen. Maybe someone has some recent addresses. From what I have heard about all the gringos overrunning Medellin, I don’t really think I will go back there. Bogota is a big place and an annoying surplus of gringos shouldn’t be a problem.

Rico... Sauve....

Nice to see another bogota defender tully. I've been here for two years in march with stops in Medellin and visits elsewhere but bogota is my favorite. Don't rule it out necessarily jsmith but you need to narrow it down a bit.

Yeah rinestone, as you know...it's a sweet city....Been in Bogota 6 months and spent time in Cartagena and Medellin.....gonna hit Cali in the next month....but for my personal tastes I cant see myself living anywhere else in Colombia besides Bogota, love the grind, weirdness, and endless funky layers of this city.....you have milllions of Colombianas of every type from Paisa's, Costenas, Calientes.....In my opinion I think the intial perception of Bogota as a cold/dirty/dangerous/sketchy city detracts lots of gringos from Bogota.....hence the love of Medellin as it is a beautiful city just not enough going on for me......If all goes well, I plan on living in Bogota for a long time....
