Drugs Are The Worst Thing You Can Do For Your Lifestyle

As a several-year stimulant addict, I can say this with certainty.

I've been clean for about a weak now, and I'm already feeling confident, on top of things, and full of ambition.

I feel like this when I'm high on stims too of course, but then when I come down I just become such a small, pathetic parody of my real self.

So my new year's resolution for 2013 is: quit booze, quit smokes, quit drugs. Period.

The 2 worst habits are drugs, and gambling.....My cousin makes $100K+ and is borderline bankrupt because of his gambling habits, his side of the family is ready to kill him...

Good luck with your health!

Glad to hear you're on the straight and narrow and enjoying it, recreational drug use is not for everybody and can quickly turn into habitual drug use.
I realized it was time to part ways with speed when it became a little too fun...

I still indulge rarely, though.
My personal philosophy; everything in moderation, including excess. [Image: biggrin.gif]

fuck that it depends on the person and the drug. i will do lines one or two times a month when im partying. i take mushrooms every year just to examine by life. pot even if you smoke 10 times a day isnt more than a 500 dollar a month habit. as for gaming the guy i knew who got laid the most in college sold blow. i think gambling is fun just dont play with more money than you can afford to lose. some people are idiots with drugs and gambling but that should not stop a normal person from enjoying that.

My personal philosophy with drugs is the usual "everything in moderation". Ive always believed that having a happy sober life with things to lose is the number one preventer of addiction. I do understand that a small amount of people will still get addicted in these circumstances.

If youre doing lines during the week or can't have fun on a weekend without it, you're headed for trouble.

Moderation really is the key. Enjoy yourself. If you know what kind of devious individual you are and the kind of shit you would get addicted to, stay away from that shit.

I refuse to buy coke and don't ever have it in my possession because I'd go on non-stop benders. But if someone is busting it out, sure I'll have a taste.

Provigil is something that may not screw up your life though.

If you can limit yourself to being a "weekend warrior" with things like drugs, alcohol, gambling, whores, etc. You can probably get away with it, but if you're the type of person who needs to do one or more of those things every single day it's eventually going to catch up with you.

I think it really does come down to self-control, awareness, and perspective on your own life. Some people can drink or use drugs heavily for years and still be a hero, others are dead by 27.

I did drugs and went to rehab for like 6 weeks.
If anything guys learn your drug of choice and do it only on the weekends. Know your limits guys.

A better tactic I'd say is to grab a notebook or a small pocket notepad and write something for each drink/hit/whatever.

I could go on, but I'm chilling on that shit for now. I need to up my body by doing 150 push-ups a day. I Gotta be the Ultimate Pokemon Trainer!

Nope.

Good on you mate.
if you're quitting the drugs you may find it difficult to lose the drink and cigarettes at the same time.

Not saying that they are good in anyway but you might wanna focus on the big guys first, only cutting back on the cigarette and drink.

Best of luck to you.

Must be a personality thing. Gambling bores me to death... Playing hundreds of hands, knowing you lose an average of 1 to 2% of your bet each time due to house edge does not sound like entertainment to me. Drugs and booze leave me sore and with heartburn. Sometimes I wish I could get into them for weekend fun, doubt I would get addicted unless it is an opiate.

There's a bit of a crow bar's separation between drug "use" and drug "abuse."

Oxygen in excess can kill you in the wrong environment... If I'm going to cut something out, I try not to use an axe when only a scalpel is called for. Some people definitely need the axe. For many others that's not necessarily so. There are plenty of people who use drugs all the time and they are just fine... Same with alcohol. Same with anything, really.

I'm not a man for gambling but cocaine, once every few months special occasions, though at the start of the year I did copious amounts.

Drugs are definitely not the worst thing you can do for your lifestyle. Losing control over your body and mind is. Drugs are a very broad class of substances and grouping them together based on their legal status only helps you out legally.

Dopamine drugs versus serotonine drugs. Know the difference. Dopamine controls the reward center of the brain and is stimulated by the most important stuff: survival, sex, food. Drugs like meth and coke release dopamine and therefore are so very addicting. Drugs like ecstasy and shrooms do not.

And it's a cliche, but alcohol is a very fucked up drug and its only redeeming quality is its legal status. I drink and I do other drugs recreationally and lifestyle wise I think alcohol is worse than for example weed or ecstasy. Alcohol, being a depressant, leaves you empty and drinking again charges you up. With ecstasy you need to wait a couple of weeks to fully enjoy it again.

(BTW: Ecstasy is not physically addicting. In contrast, going cold turkey from severe alcohol addiction is lethal, something which isn't even the case for heroin.)

Lifestyle comparison between alcohol and ecstasy:

Alcohol. Every weekend most young people get wasted until the point of forgetting what happened, getting aggressive, doing things they normally wouldn't do sexually. STDs get transmitted, fights break out, car accidents kill innocent people. At a party where everyone is drinking, the vibe is often pretty 'competitive' and hostile between the guys. Alcohol serves as the main substance keeping people from developing themselves, as they use it as a crutch to be social.

Ecstasy/ A party where everyone's rolling on high quality stuff (I don't live in the USA) is wildly different. Most people drink water. The people are often hot, because it attracts the kind of person that's about feeling good and looking good. The vibe is extremely friendly, where you can just talk with any stranger. People connect. Sure, people mix drugs they shouldn't or take too much. But working on many of these parties I can say this is sporadic. Fights also don't happen, unless with assholes on alcohol or coke that happen to be there.

Seriously, once every two months, that stuff is awesome. Alcohol is the drugs of Jersey Shore.

Good for you if you're making changes that will benefit your life, but "drugs" are not the worst decision you can make for your lifestyle.

Many drugs have the potential to greatly improve your life. Caffeine makes me more productive. Alcohol and marijuana can help you relax and enjoy life more. Cocaine and MDMA can help you really enjoy life, and make you more social and outgoing. Hallucinogenics can help you better understand yourself and the world, and open you up to new ways of thinking.

I haven't yet fucked with Provigil or other smart drugs, but it's high up on my to do list. I'm hesitant to make a habit of ED drugs at my age, but Cialis can turn a healthy young guy into an unstoppable sex machine. I will definitely be looking into test-enhancing supplements in my 30s and beyond.

Again, mad respect to you for identifying that your relationship with a substance is having a negative impact on your life. I've made a similar observation with my relationship with alcohol and cut back a lot on my drinking. But its wrong to extrapolate from that to saying that all drugs, all the time, for all people - are bad.

Good luck staying off your poison of choice, I suggest committing right now to revisiting this thread every month to let us know how you're doing.

Haha defo a UK thing the old charlie. Its everywhere these days. I used to do a fair amount of it but it is just too expensive, and unhealthy for mind and body. Probably the stuff its mixed with to be honest more than the actual thing itself!

After counting the volume and caloric intake of the beer I drank on New Year's alone, I'm opting to quit all drinking except for the occasional light mixed drink to be social.

Alcohol has always screwed up my game, but for the most part I don't care because whenever I get trashed I don't do it for liquid courage, I just do it to get smashed.

But right now I'm letting a few of my goals slide and I honestly know that I'm bound for some serious depression unless I get back on track. So now I need to cut back on my everyday vices.

I often think about knocking drinking on the head, but it is very difficult especially when you're learning night-game. Same with cigs. That said, I apply Roosh's maxim of allowing yourself maybe one a night just to maintain conversation when a girl may go to the smoking area. Plus, its easier to approach in a smoking area too.

I tried coke for the first time recently after decades of avoiding it.
All it did was make me chatty, which I didn't mind but didn't seem like a big deal.
Tried it about four times now. Don't see myself ever buying any.

If it was pure stuff, you'd know it. It was probably some mixture of amphetamines. Good quality coke is hard to find (which might be a good thing haha).
