I watched this today expecting some sort of nutty movie but it was just a redo of the milgram experiment where people are tested to see how far they will go when asked to shock someone else under implied authority.
The amount of people who complied was pretty interesting as was the reactions from women in the experiment. They were visibly more stressed by the person being electrocuted's reactions but also visibly stressed by the audience and host's pressure to continue.
Its really cool in the context of game, why isolation is required to really escalate or why cockblocking works. Same thing goes for working a system to imply authority in your favour.
Last but not least, the approval of the audience reminds me of facebook. Enough 'likes' and any action is justified.
Has anyone else seen this? Psychology is pretty cool when its gender neutral.
