So I am recently back from thailand and still on a "bargaining streak" of questioning every and any price because foreigners and locals have a huge price difference. This along w/verifying all purchases and reciepts.

I recently bought 2 dental lights. Retail 575 x2. I called and asked for a better price. Got it knocked down after 2-3 mins of shooting the shit w/the sales rep to 475. 200 dollar savings in 2-3 mins...not bad ROI.

What are some of the things you have succesfully/unsucessfully bargained for? How much time did you spend achieving it?

Asshole used car salesmen tried to sell his truck for 5500. It was an '01 Dodge Ram with 100000 miles on it. I took my buddy who was a mechanic with me. He said he would pay more than 3200 for it. I shot the shit. I didn't need the truck then and there. Loved it tho and I had cash. I told him 3500 out the door. He called his boss and said cool.

Kelly bluebook has it at 2400. I am looking for the same truck now and can't find anything near that price for the same truck. 5500 is the standard for a '00-'05 with 150K-250K. So really the truck was a steal.

Thing is they go to auctions and get those vehicles for 1500 max. Shit like that makes me want to get a dealers license and flip trucks in Mexico. I started to do the reserch but the start up capital was too much.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.
