Anyone read Neil Skywalkers new book yet? Around The World in 80 Girls

I think it was already suggested in this thread:

Send a copy to the best bloggers of the manosphere (like Roissy, Roosh, Naughty Nomad, Virgle Kent, Krauser, etc.) and politely ask for a review in case they like the book. Those reviews would lead your book to more sells since it's your niche and those are the great opinionmakers in that niche.

This should have been the first thing you did. Send a copy to every game, women, travel, backpacker etc blog you can find, if they read it and like it they'll maybe write a review. Build up a presence in all the relevant forums and make it known what you do (go easy on the blatant self promotion though be a useful contributor and people won't mind you mentioning your website / book), hit social media hard get videos up on youtube (maybe a 'how to travel the world and bang women' vid), interact on twitter and facebook, join relevant groups on both sites and make it known what you do. Might be an idea to start a blog up on the side, so you can use that to drive traffic to your book. It doesn't have to be stuff that's in your book but you must be able to think up tons of advice on travelling around on a budget and fucking women. Write articles on them.

I will definitely send out some copies of the 2nd version to the bigger names in blogging land but not to everyone. Especially backpacking bloggers are notorious for not even replying the first mail which I think is very rude/ unpolite. Why the hell should I send these fuckers free copies? I myself made it a policy to answer every mail I get, even the trollish ones. I draw the line at straight up hate.

I already have a blog,facebook and twitter.

Can't wait to grab up the second version. My Kindle is all ready for it.

Neil, you could Google "a vagabond story review" and see which bloggers reviewed that book. It is a similar book to yours. Maybe a few of those guys would be willing to review it.

I think I mentioned this before, but a good way to start is to target the 3-5 largest, and most closely related, blogs. Start commenting on their articles with good, thought out posts and participating in the discussions. Share and retweet an article or two that you enjoyed by them. Then, after a week or two, hopefully after the blogger has responded to one or two of your posts, shoot him an email and/or Twitter and offer to send him a free copy. Don't ask for the review outright. After a week or two ask him how he liked the book. If he is up for doing a review, he will probably offer it up himself at this point.

I tried sending out a shitload of Press releases to newspapers. Cost me two full days but I never heard back from any of them.
Mostly I mail backpacker blogs/websites and ask them to do a link exchange and give them some back ground on my story. I offer to do guestposts and/or interviews. Not many reply but I think the main strategy is getting the word out by word of mouth.
I have done a few interviews an a guestpost but most website managers are very slow or hesitant in their placing. For obvious political correct reasons.
My book is mainly aimed at backpackers/travelers and i'm sure that word spreads fast in the hostel/guesthouse scene since girls are a good subject to talk about over some beers.

I'm planning to hit up some major (PUA) forums too just to get the word out a bit. Just for promotional purposes. RVF is my one and only forum.

There are also lots of good tips given by other posters here in this thread and i still have to follow up on.

For now, most importantly is to get the new and improved 2nd version up and running and even more important getting a job in real life™ and according to my friends and family getting back to reality too.

Also getting out of my hermit lifestyle is high on my list.

That's good advice Neil thanks. I'm releasing my own e-book soon (fitness related). I plan to use similar promotion strategies. I'm going to market it aggressively on my twitter account.

Just worked on it continuously for the last few days again. Just stopped 10 minutes ago. Formatting Word is a hell of a job. Finished the paperback version for 99% just need to add a map/picture and change the page numbers since the book actually grew 34 pages. That's probably gonna be bad for the cover dimensions also. Another problem.
The editor did a great job and that inspired me to write some extra stuff in between.

Once that's ready i'll start on the ebook version which either will go very fast or very slow.

Good tips on the bloggers, will follow them.

Hasn't one of the main complaints been that the book was too long and yet you've just added 34 pages? Don't take it personally that the backpackers didn't reply, they are probably too busy travelling to read and respond to every email, it costs you nothing to send an ecopy of your book to them. If they don't read it you lose nothing, if they read it and review it then you get free publicity. If I was you then I would send.

Set up Google Alerts for "Around the world in 80 girls" and "Neil Skywalker" and any other related terms and you'll be alerted when anyone on the net is talking about it on their site, blog or forum and you can go over join in the discussion, get involved, see what they are saying and get a bit of buzz going about it.

Nope, no complaints about the length of the book just the grammar/sentence structure. I intended the book as a book for on the road not as a quick read. A quick read would mean I had to out half the stories.
There is no such thing as too busy traveling. Straight deleting an email is different from letting an email sit in your inbox for a while and then answer it. No modern day backpacker is offline for more then a few days. Why should I give these disrespectful people a free book? At most a few will give me a online review on their barely read blog. Reviews on Amazon is what I need and reviews by the bigger names in blogging.

The google alert advice sounds pretty good I bet. I have no idea how its works but i'll find out. hanks for the advice.

The main buzz will be travelers/backpackers talking about it on the road I guess since it's girls are a popular subject among guys.

Neil I've read numerous comments on here that the book was the longest people have ever read. You should round up a few people who have read it and ask whether they thought it was too long or not to be sure. You don't have to cut out any of the good stuff but there's bound to some stories in there that really don't need to be. I haven't read your book btw so I don't know for sure, get some feedback from those who have.

Don't discount those backpacker blogs, people read them. Free publicity is free publicity, all it takes is for someone with a bigger blog on there to read it and then them to talk about it on their blog. Don't turn your nose up at it or focus solely on getting reviews on Amazon. A good tip though to get reviews on Amazon is to send out 'review copies' of the new updated ebook to a good few people (say like readers on here or similar forums) on the condition they go over and leave a review on Amazon and mention it on the forum. It's best if you can give them a couple of weeks to read it then get them all to write a review within a short period of time on Amazon (say within a 24hr period) as that will quickly boost it up in the search results for a while and more people will see it naturally when looking at the travel books.

Google Alerts could not be easier - http://www.google.com/alerts if you can't operate that you should give up on the internet. [Image: wink.gif]

I have officially announced the Second version of my book. I'm quite proud of the result and editor made fixed quite a few grammatical errors. Overall the book reads a lot better and it's a bit funnier too. Those who bought the book in the last 10 days already have the new Second Edition. I just had to catch up with the promotion on my website and Amazon etc etc. I have changed the promotional story a bit and added verified Amazon reviews to the sales page.

I don't want to type the same stuff again so i'm just copy/pasting my blog post about the Second Version.

The Second Edition of my book is out now.

As of today I proudly announce the Second Edition of my book. For the last seven weeks I have been working with a native English speaking editor to fine tune my first book. Since I’m not a native English speaker myself there were some spelling errors and a few issues with the sentence structure. Not too bad but of course everyone wants to read a book that is grammatically perfect.

Going through the book page by page again inspired me to add some extra lines here and there and to put in some extra details to clarify some stories. What at first would be a book edited for grammar only ended as a book that has grown about 34 pages.

What else has changed?
- The paperback version already had a full list of all the places I’ve been on this trip (211! Including a few cities I went a few times). I have now added this list to the E-book version too
- Same goes for the list of words to quickly learn the most important words a traveling player needs. This one is added to the E-book too.
- There is now a route map of my trip added to both the paperback and the E-book version.
So far nothing special since you can also find this on this website.
- The Second Edition now has a Prologue and an Epilogue.
- As said, the book has grown about 34 pages because of added details and a small story here and there.

If you have bought the first Edition then there’s no reason to worry. The tone of the book and the stories haven’t changed a bit. It's still a traveling Highway to Hell. The Second edition just reads a lot better.

I would like to thank the hundreds of people who already bought and enjoyed the book so far. I’m getting more and more mails from people who say they were inspired by my story and who are making travel plans themselves. This is of course the best reward a writer can get and it makes me quite proud.
It’s not like my mailbox is getting flooded but sometimes it hard to answer the mails the same day but I do what I can to answer them all.

In the next couple of months I will repost older blog posts and stories that didn’t make it to the book or just small parts of it. Those who require a little more details on the trip or pure travel stories should read those too.

Cheers,

Neil Skywalker

Come on fellas, hook a brotha up. If you read Neil's book, lets throw a shoutout. Same goes for all of Roosh's Books and Naughty Nomad. They all have dropped tons of knowledge for free so its the least we can do. [Image: icon_razz.gif]

Doesn't mean that much though. Sell a handful of books and you're there already. But on the other hand, it still means I leave 99 others behind me.
