On the upside, it should improve the view in normal gyms as the slow moving herd flocks to the fat gyms.

I wonder if they kick a fattie out once she loses the weight? Wouldn't want her to intimidate the others.

And do we even need to imagine the OUTRAGE if a gym had a no fatty policy?

From a capitalist perspective, this might be quite effective.

If that was a gym near me, I'd just wear a fat suit.

That way, I could guarantee all the useful stuff would always be free, because the fatties are hardly going to be squatting or deadlifting or anything other than walking on the treadmills.

Pro-Business Tip: Find out where the fat gyms are and start a McDonalds franchise next door. It'll be like printing money.

I'm pretty sure fatty-only gyms won't have any barbells.

They forgot one important thing. Once you get out of gym you don't exercise, therefore you get fat. They are recycling customers.

Good business model.

Fat people don't use the machines often since they quit going to the gym.

Gym rats are a gym's nightmare. We wear out the equipment.

From an owner's perspective: Ideally a person pays his $99 initiation fee, gets on auto-billing for a one-year contract, and never goes back to the year.

Fatties are thus ideal for many gym owners.

Not to be all Buzz Killington, but how does this:

Quote:Quote:

One such business is Downsize Fitness, with locations in Las Vegas, Chicago and Dallas... Other gyms with the same idea include Body Exchange in Vancouver, Square One in Omaha, Neb., and Buddha Body Yoga in New York City.

equal this:

A new fitness trend appears to be sweeping the nation...

The Beatles swept the nation. This article names four gyms in the entire country.

Also, I went to Downsize Fitness' site and there's no "ban" on skinny people. It's just a program geared towards the obese fatties, so an in-shape person would just have no reason to go there. Remember, most trend pieces are full of shit.

So you're fat, you hit the gym and lose a ton of weight. They ban you? Now that is motivation at it's best.

Isn't Curves a fatty gym? I guess they're trying to compete with them!

I say we expand this concept. There should be certain streets and even neighborhoods that cater (ha) to the pleasantly plump.

Reminds me of this sorority in college that was so ugly it had to shut down. There were plenty of girls who'd fit right in, but they refused to join because it would then confirm that 'yes, you are one ugly fuck.' So they could hardly get any girls to join.

Would make for great trolling, roll up in a fat suit to get your membership, then come in a different day looking fly. It's possible that the fat chicks would eyefuck you like a jelly doughnut and start hitting on you though... MISSION ABORT.

Serioisly though, I think a gym is the last place a serious fattie should be. If you're 400 lbs, almost any exercise is either going to shred your joints or do nothing. You're better off eating less and healthy and only exercising once you are merely overweight.

Can fat asses even do any excercises besides walking?

Do you have to weight in before you're able to enter the gym? If you don't make weight you got to head over to the donut shop on the corner to bulk up.

Yea curves is a female gym for fatties my homies old cougar flame owned a few of them. The irony was she was a pshyco fitness freak but saw the $$$ potential and jumped in.

Its all those contracts. Fat people have tons of disposable money (how you think they got fat?) and will easily being in delusion to sign long term membership contracts and never full-fill them.

Fat asses always use machines. They would rather use their "strong fat" muscles and lift weights vs doing cardio.

Fattie: "You can loose weight lifting weights"

Yes that is true porky but it has to be high intensity weight lifting with compound movements not some fuking shoulder bar pulldown.

This is why I like old school gyms. Few machines, sparse cardio (treadmill, bike, row machine), No TVs, and all free weights. All the shit fat people hate when going to the gym.

Now if you really want to make some cash open up a females gym for Muslim women. This is something that has always crossed my mind a sitting cash cow waiting to be herded.

Actually, the best and safest exercise/workouts for the very fat and obese is swimming pool workouts. They can work virtually every muscle group, and there's no stress on their joints. They can burn up fat and gain some strength due to the resistance provided by the water. Only after doing that for a while should they move on to doing exercises on the floor or ground.

Planet Fitness wants you to stay fat. They actually have free pizza and bagels at their gym on certain days. Why not mass gainer shakes and donuts as well?

I go to PF. They have pizza and bagels once a month each. I think having a healthy lifestyle and exercising properly (or not) is much more determinative of weight gain/loss than if you eat +1 bagel per month.

I'm just imagining some Full Metal Jacket drill instructor type tossing an obese cow into a pool and telling her to swim laps.

This policy is bullshit, but at least it's helping fatasses get to the gym.

After watching some of the chubbier folks struggle to do basic shit at my old kickboxing class I am sympathetic to their cause and sort of consider fatness to be a disability. The only problem is that I'm not a molder of men (or women, who are statistically fatter than men) and I think they deserve the misery that's coming to them. I have done a lot of fitness work on the regular since January and to hell with anybody who thinks they're on the same "effort plane" as I am despite opposite results.

Serious fatasses are comparable (in a fitness spectrum) to extreme omega males within the lay artist community, they need help the most and anything done to increase accessibility for these losers should be done.

Exactly what I was thinking. Gyms make money from people in contracts who dont use it. Fatties are the most likely to skip town before 3 months is even up

Although its a nightmare finding a decent gym these days, esp if you travel a lot. Its like the gyms have an aversion to free weights and its all these expensive isolation machines. Give me a few benches, squat rack, barbells and some DB and I am happy. The amount of gyms I go into with only one squat rack these days shows how poor the average training routine has become

Let's get to the point; there's no need to call girls "lizards" anymore. Their true animal spirit revealed:

If we're getting rid of the term "lizard", why don't we take into account the current obesity epidemic and go with "hippopotamus" instead?

a gym i belonged to is in the basement of a fancy condo building in a fancy part of town.

the condo owners complained about the sound of my deadlift dropping on the floor reverberating through the entire building, up ten stories.

they said they were going to have to install a $250,000 sound absorbing floor.

or perhaps, i could see myself out the door and out of a membership....

i left ultimately because i couldnt drop a deadlift or a clean there anymore and they sure as fuck weren't going to put in that fucking floor.
