EE Greek Othodox and some German girls where the wedding ring on the right hand

I gamed a Russian girl in DC last night only to find out she was married. This kind of miffed me because I was certain that I had checked her left hand. When I asked, "where's your ring" she showed me her right hand.

My friend who was with me has a German wife and she also wears hers on the right hand, while he as an American wears his on the left.

It was mentioned briefly in this thread as well:

I also found this which has an OK country by country breakdown:

Anyway, hopefully this will help others from wasting their time when trying to swoop EE/Greek Orthodox women.

In America, Canada, and most of NW Europe, you usually wear it on the left hand. I assumed that it was the same everywhere. Apparently not.

Might be a good idea to have a thread that simply has people say what finger/hand married women have a ring on by country, or other sign that they use.

I have no idea, for example, what they use in a place like Mali or Singapore.

I had always heard the left hand was the appropriate hand for a wedding ring because the left arm is closest to the heart. That thinking always made the most sense to me. But I suppose the right hand makes sense for some cultures that give a highly negative connotation to the left hand.

Aside from the fact that EE/Greek Orthodox women should wear wedding rings on right hand as dictated by their culture/religion/whatever, could it also be that such women (especially in DC) are just doing it for attention, confuse American men, they get hit on, they feel better.

After all, any EE woman living in U.S/Canada for more than a year becomes westernized, attention and validation seeking, regardless of how attractive/slim EE women maybe.

Also IMO married women crave attention more than your average single 20-something knucklehead.
