Yes absolutely. ONS's or SNL can happen in Floripa, but overall I would say it's less common than in the U.S. The girls on Tinder are down to hookup. If I were you, I would play the "I'm here studying abroad, trying to improve my portuguese" card because I have noticed that girls there are very skeptical and in some cases afraid to make it easy for the gringo guy. Focus solely on getting these girls on a day two. Latinas in general have a stereotype of western guys being sex tourists, so it makes them shell up a bit because they don't wanna feel like sluts or be judged by friends. Keep in mind, Floripa is a small city. A lot of people know each other, and I think you would be surprised at how cliquey it is. it's not super cliquey, but if you are there long enough and meet enough people, you will see what I mean. Word gets around quick.

One other thing, as you know, the logistics on that Island are a mess. When you try to day 2 these girls make it as easy for them as possible. For example, let's say you live in Trindade and she lives in Pantanal (both neighborhoods close to the University) don't expect her to walk or take a bus all the way out to your neighborhood just to get a drink with you. This chick doesn't know you and girls from Floripa are flaky as hell. Find her neighborhood on google maps and find a good bar too meet her at. This will eliminate any objection or flake. The only reason I mention this is because I knew a lot of guys who met a lot of girls, but absolutely sucked at figuring out the logistics for a day two and left a lot of lays behind as a result. You can apply this to pretty much any situation. This should be common knowledge, but the logistics of that place are sooo fucked up that it is worth mentioning.

One really good day two spot on campus that I can think of off the top of my head is called CSC (centro social da cerveja) it is in Carvoeira but on Wednesdays they have two for one caipirinhas and they are deceptively strong . In fact I would recommend this place over meu escritorio or bar da nina, because I can guarantee she will run into friends at those places, and that's not good; not for a first date at least. Once again, you want to make it as easy for her as possible without feeling judged by her friends. Girls there tend to be a bit conservative in my opinion.

I wish I was there man but I left a while ago. Really want to go back. Might try making a move out there this January.

As far as places I would avoid going, avoid the little hole in the wall bars in lagoa like "casa de noca" and "John Bull". Those places have always been a miss for me and I gave them plenty of opportunities. In fact, I would recommend avoiding Lagoa all together unless there is some sort of large venue there nowadays. If you somehow end up in Lagoa I would recommend just posting up on the streets. Usually there's a ton of people on the streets just walking around at night, and some cute girls running around. At this time of the year though it is usually dead. It'll start to pickup around December. Stick with your bread and butter as long as you can; Centro, and UFSC parties. Once the summer starts the north will have plenty of things going on, but until then, avoid that area also. Btw, once UFSC let's out in January, that area around campus is DEAD as fuck. You might wanna try leaving at the end of the fall semester once your apartment or homestay is over and just grab a short term place for a couple of months in Jurere or lagoa through air bnb. Once the university let's out, the Centro clubs are kind of dead too and you won't have UFSC parties. This is huge, remember I told you that.

Surrounding Areas to Check Out:

Oktoberfest is coming up in Blumenau and you definitely need to check it out. It isn't the best place for pickup due to the logistics and other things but it is cool and worth seeing. If you go, I recommend going when UFSC goes. Apparently UFSC has a weekend when all of the university students go and that would be the best day for sure because it'll increase your chances of meeting girls from UFSC.

Checkout Balneario Camburiu some weekend with some friends. It's a coastal city an hour north of Floripa and it has two nightclubs in a suburb of it called Itajai that are considered some of the best in the world (Warung and Green Valley). Green Valley is top 50 electronic, and Warung is like house music. Warung = Hipster brazilian girl, Green Valley = Patricinha. They are both cool in their own way. Definitely worth a few visits if you're gonna be there two semesters.

I appreciate the guidance and yeah since I have gotten tinder I've already gotten hit up 3 times and the girls are down to Meetup. The I'm studying here for a semester thinking about a year and works real well. I saw your post in the Colombia Master thread and haven't been to either of these cities because I've only been here for about 3 weeks and I'm trying to establish a good base of operations I have some money put away some travels around different areas cab drivers and including my landlord for my Airbnb tell me that Porto Alegre have some of the more beautiful women and the Gringo appeal does a step further because everyone comes to Florianopolis. Even the cuties that work in the office building next to the school and my study abroad program are from Rio Grande do Sul so it's a must investigate for me but I'm hitting the books hard on my Portuguese because with that extra knowledge you set yourself apart as many have said in other threads especially the Columbian one if you speak their native language decent game and are decent looking which I qualify in both then you'll do just fine so that's the my theory anyway. I don't think there's any data sheets on Goiania yet

Also yeah, when I was there the only girls I dated were from the countryside and they were true bottom of the barrel, but I got desperate. Guys Brazil is an incredible country but don't choose Floripa it i'm telling you guys there are better options I used to work for a company that does tours up and down the coast from Rio to Salvador i've been all over Brazil, Floripa is the hardest place in Brazil not only to game girls but also hard in terms of logistics as well, its not all its cracked up to be. People warned me, I went anyways, dont do it.

The only thing floripa has going for it its relatively safe by Brazil standards, and the girls are all beautiful but you cannot even get near them unless u have a really strong social circle.

Public transport = sucks, the surf is all hype there are no waves, the girls are bitchy, the clubs are outrageously and i mean outrageously priced.

For first timers i owuld recommend Rio 100%, 2nd trip around check out Sao Paulo and the beaches around Bahia like Itacare is a cool place or Pipa.

3rd time when your portuguese is more advanced maybe try a city like belo horizonte if your main purpose is to game or even try Sao Paulo if your more into the hipster intellectual chicks.

if you want to get really sexually frustrated for a few months and sit in traffic and rain all day then I highly recommend Florianopolis. Call me salty but head down there for a couple weeks and don't say I didn't tell u so guys ...

Really you can never go wrong with Rio, the beaches are great, the people are friendly it has everything you need. Sometimes there is this urge to find the city thats "better than Rio" but shit man, I really haven't found it yet.

I'm having a good time within my relatively small I have here even in the low season. I'm a firm believer that things aren't good or bad but it's merely your estimation of those things. And that's true with any country small cities are going to have more laid-back chicks that do like to dress up sometimes that's beginner knowledge. To the guys that have been to Florianopolis and hated it or are opposed to going I totally hear where you guys are coming from. Personally, I'd like to go back and see it for a couple of weeks, but overall if I ever do Brasil again it will be a major metropolitan city like rio, sp, or somewhere in the Northeast. But I don't wanna shit on it and be negative because I had great times there, but I also had my low moments too and I can relate with some of the negative reviews that some guys have had on here.

If you are somebody who wants to go to Brazil for a few weeks, and has never been to Brazil before, avoid Floripa; especially if your portuguese is bad. It just isn't worth it in my opinion. Yeah the girls are hot, but you can find just as hot of girls in the major cities without the attitudes or the high prices to even be in the same room with them. The city can be a pain in the ass (for various reasons listed in above posts)sometimes and there were several times when I was there that I was very bitter about the place and wanted to leave ASAP to a bigger city. After a while I accustomed myself and found my niche.

My experience was a bit different than the average guy that goes because I stayed for almost a year and was tied in with the university as an exchange student. I had something to fall back on, and this is key in that city; you need some kind of niche. I can't even imagine how disappointing it would be to visit Floripa for two weeks in the summer: not knowing anybody, with bad portugues, and staying in some super touristy area expecting to be swimming in hot Brazilian girls. Forget about it. Only doable if your Portuguese is near fluent and you have great game, and with a little bit of luck.

It's a bit risky to check out an inland city like Goiânia around February due to Carnaval; I'd wait till March or even better April/May.

Carnaval - People (best female talent) are all out on coasts. Either that or somewhere with family.

Before Carnaval - Getting financially and physically ready for vacation to coasts

After Carnaval - Broke as shit and staying in because all that money was spent on Carnaval/New Year's Eve

Overall, Goiânia chicks are much hotter than Brasília ones. There are some hot rich ones in Brasília, but Goiânia has more. I know some hot chicks who have moved to Brasília from other parts of Brazil to work (law, architecture, government position); they dislike it & would rather be back in their hometown. I'm a local.. Truth is, logistics are king (duh). But specially here. portuguese it's a must and if you're a gringo your game must be solid..

There are all very solid point's made by all of you guys. Florianopolis can be a good place to hit some high quality pussy, if you have:

Time, Logistics, and a CAR.

Seriously a car will boost your notches by at least 30%. Harambe, you should go to the UFSC parties and be able to pull kinda easily, hookups are usually happening a lot, and sometimes with very little exchange of words, they will come into play for you to screen out girls who are DTF, and then it's basic nightgame and logistics(see having your place and a car). You can bed the girl coming back using the vans if you two live close to campus, but the car it's a best bet.

There is not really much to add on info on the city and how it works, if you're expecting to come here for a week and bang tons of chicks, forget about it, unless you're a baller on the high season and even then it's not really that easy because there are a fucking lot of jacked, tall, rich and good loking mofos walking around at jurere that time of the year..

From what I've seen the music in Brazil doesn't have much energy and doesn't get the crowds up and moving like club music in the rest of the world ha. Lots of ppl in the crowd look bored as fuck. Reminds me of Newport Beach ha. At 2am they switched to dance music tho and things got more lively. Overall very difficult venue.

Bonus tip: Google maps doesn't work for bus schedules here. You have to download an app called moovit. Blue buses cost $R3.90 and yellow busses cost R$8.50 but have reclining seats and A/c

Lagoa da Conceição is good at night, full of mini-clubs and bars. Lontra club in the center had good funk parties. I don't know if the clubs of the Jurerê Internacional are still running shows, but just look at their schedulle: P12 or Parador 12, Donna, Aqcua, Café de la Musique, etc
