The girls here require dates and time. If you months to kill, it is a good place, but for short trips I recommend SD. I'm confident black guy will do much better in the Capitol. Hell, I was doing better there. SD is fast, and as a result so are the girls.

For Santiago, you need a minimum of 3 months, with an apartment and car. Girls here are shutting me down from living in a hotel and not having a vehicle. They aren't too impressed with foreigners, as many here have U.S. visas. And cars.

Things aren't as cheap here as most would think. A 1000m bottle of Presidente Light in the Colmado is 100p (). I constantly eat a "plata del dia, which is running 150p with drink. That includes rice, beans, salad, and a meat. A good burger by itself with bacon and cheese on the street is 100p. Drinks in clubs run toward American prices, and casino prices are far higher.

Actually i didnt breakdown what happened in the cell so i wouldnt sound as if i was trying to look like a superman on here, but fuck it, full story.

Before i walked inside the cell, i knew that they usually strip you down when you walk inside the cells here and the dudes will take everything you have.

So i walked in, screwing my face as if i was mad stressed. They tried to talk to me and shit but i wasnt really telling them shit, they started cracking jokes and i started laughing and we started dissing each other for a good minute (my mistake here, fuck making friends in a jail cell). Anyway, this other dude that punched a police officer walks inside the cell right after me and they asked us if we were together, i was like ''nah we aint together". They started asking this dude way too many questions and he was just there quiet, answering their bullshit as if these dudes were his boss.

Next minute, they asked us if we had money (i had 25 dolars in my socks), i was like no, i dont have money, this other dude told them that he doesnt have money too. The boss in the group was like ''well im gonna start searching you'' pointing to the other dude. I thought to myself if this dude searches this dude, he may try to search me too, searching me is disrespecting me..so i quickly told him "yo back off, you aint searching anybody here''. He was like.why you being aggressive, we aint talking to you..i was like, well im just saying man, you aint searching anybody here..the boss tells this other guy, yo search this guy (me), he thinks he is a bad ass and if you dont search him, i will slap you. This dude tries to search me, i push him against his other cell mate.the boss comes to me now, yo im going to search you now..i push the boss too..this new york-dominican dude that got deported started telling me that i had to follow the rules in the cell and this is how it is..otherwise they would all jump on me..and he was telling me that i wouldnt beat all of them.. I am not really a big guy (actually im short) but i could tell that all these guys were scaried, the leader of the group just didnt want to back down because otherwise he would look bad next to his cell mates..Anyway we pushed each other for a minute, nobody was throwing punches first (i didnt want to punch before i got punched)..then i just called "officer, officer"..then the officer came and told me to come out from the cell..few minutes after i paid the 1000 pesos (25 bucks) and was released.

Did they look scary? yeah they did for dominican standards, but i think streets dudes from the UK/US look way more scary than these guys. The guys here are a bunch of pussies, they are not really aggressive peope.

I got shaken down once in SD. The cops pulled over my driver and searched his car and they patted me down. No harm no foul. Usually in those situations they are looking for a few pesos, but didn't ask.

In Santiago on a previous trip the cops wanted to talk to me just out of curiosity. 15 minutes later the senior guy let me inspect his pistola, and gave me his number in case I had any problems.

Now the big one happened a couple weeks ago. I was sitting outside a casino waiting for the normal girls to show up. It was a bit early, and only the pros/semi's were there. I was harassing a hooker in exchange for smokes, when 3-4 police trucks showed up flanked by a bunch of motorcycles. There had to been about 25 cops out there. I ignored them until the girl pointed with her lips and said they were waiting for me.

So I kept my cool and swaggered up to the platoon non-aggressively for the pat down. After I showed my ID, and they made small talk. They laughed, talked a bit more, then possied up disappeared into the night. The girl said they were just bored, and were curious as to where I was from. Admittedly, I was nervous, but didn't show it.

The cops here aren't big on fucking with foreigners. They go after the locals with money. Shaking down tourists is bad for biz. There's nothing wrong, IMO, with a quick pat down and ID check.

I'd argue that DR must be exceptionally hard if 3 months is what it takes. Not saying that the 3 figure is not right for Santiago but that puts it above many Major cities in the western world.

Im going to Santiago in January and I believe Ali´s word that it is harder than Santo Domingo.
