Tulsa, Oklahoma

Just touched down in Tulsa, I'm here tonight and tomorrow (Friday and Saturday) for a family function. Anyone know of anything going on? I'm only here for 2 nights so I'm basically looking for where I'll have the highest chance of an SNL.

I can't contribute, but I hope you bust out a data sheet for us of your 2 nights. =)

Instead of making a new thread, I figured I'd put my information on Tulsa here. In my opinion Tulsa is not a great US city for game, but I wanted to include info anyways in case you find yourself passing through. First off, Tulsa is smack dab in the middle of the bible belt. Churches are everywhere and the average girl is very conservative. Just finding girls open to single night lays is difficult. Hipster girls seem more open to casual relationships, but many of them are overweight and can be covered in piercings/tattoos. On the other hand, the cost of living is incredibly low and the city seems a good place to raise a traditional family.

Nightlife
The best bars for game are located in the blue dome district downtown. If possible, staying somewhere close by would be ideal when visiting. All of the bars and clubs(I use this term loosely here) are within a few blocks of each other. If you choose to drive, parking is readily available as long as there is not a major event going on downtown. Perhaps the most well known bar in the city is McNellies. The crowd here can be hit or miss, but McNellies has the best beer selection in the city. The Maxx is a fun bar with a retro theme and tons of arcade style games to play. Not a big fan of Woody's, but pulling from there may be easier than the other bars. The Dust Bowl is a smaller bar with four bowling lanes attached. For club music, the only choice is the Electric Circus. Bouncing girls from one bar to another is very easy in the blue dome district.

Another area to check out is the Brady Arts District. The biggest draw here is Cain's Ballroom, which is one of the main venues in Tulsa for live music. The first Friday of every month the district hosts an art crawl which attracts a lot of people downtown. There are also quite a few bars within walking distance of each other. The Tulsa Drillers baseball stadium is located next to the district.

The only bar/club that I would recommend that isn't downtown is Caravan. If you like to two step, this is a popular place to go dancing-especially Thursday nights. Just be careful, because like many places in Tulsa it is popular with church groups. Tulsa has two casinos, the Hard Rock and River Spirit. I don't gamble, but friends who have gone for events seem to have a fun time.

Restaurants
There is good food in the city, you just have to know where to look. 15th street, which the locals call Cherry Street, has quite a few popular restaurants/bars. Killkenny's Irish pub could be decent for game as well as CHOCS (Coffee House on Cherry Street). Other places for good food include Andolini's, Smoke and Luckys. There are also a few good hole-in-the-wall type places scattered across the city if you are interested.

Day Game
Tulsa has two colleges in town and I can't recommend either. Trying to run day game at Oral Roberts would be disastrous (but possibly quite amusing) and Tulsa University not much better. Oklahoma's satellite campus or TCC might be better, but if you actually want to meet Oklahoma college girls you're probably going to have to go to Norman or Stillwater.
Utica Square is an outdoor, up-scale shopping mall that is close to downtown. This would be a better area for day game, especially if the weather is nice.

Events
Tulsa does not have any events that are worth going out of your way for so I will just cover some of the big ones. Every year the state fair is held at the end of September. This draws a big crowd with live music every night. Each April is the Tulsa gun show (claimed to be the largest in the world). Tulsa's Oktoberfest is popular with the locals, but pales compared to other cities.

Other notes: Tulsa has a drive-in movie theater, which can be a decent date idea. Liquor laws are very strict so make sure you plan ahead. Alcohol cannot be sold on Sundays and sales stop around 9 PM each night. If you're buying beer, I recommend getting it from an actual liquor store. Grocery stores and gas stations only sell watered down "non-intoxicating" beer.

ArtV did a great job describing the situation in Tulsa. I have spent much more time partying in OKC and Stillwater than in Tulsa but Oklahoma is a tough place for a ONS above a 6. Aside from recent developments in downtown OKC (Bricktown) and the college scene, Oklahoma isn't a happening nightlife place. There are different factors (many of which were covered above) that make the situation tough. These factors consist of early marriage (the hotties all marry between 21-24 then 2-3 kids later they divorce), very close social circles, and being a very, very religious state. I actually know guys that joined church groups in order to pick up girls. Church game.....there it actually does exist (I can't make this shit up).

I highly recommend trying to get to Stillwater from Tulsa if at all possible. The best possibility for hooking up with attractive girls with low bitch shields would be Stillwater (Oklahoma State University) followed by Norman (University of Oklahoma). I will be returning to Oklahoma City in a few weeks and I will kick out an updated data sheet. There are 2-3 new places that I need to check out before I post. As mentioned above, OKC is getting better with more nightlife venues but it isn't anywhere close to having the options that major cities have.

I also recommend Stillwater, OSU if you want to talk to cool low bitch shield chicks. The difference between Oklahoma City girls and Stillwater girls is noticeable enough. Stillwater is a more laid back, stoner friendly town (lots of weed around there coming from Colorado).

Stilly is hands down one of my favorite small college towns. Beautiful women and great logistics.

Quick data sheet:

6th street is about 2 blocks of mostly bars and the main place to go out at night. Different bars hit on different nights and it's easy to figure out what's happening.

Drinks: Dirt freaking cheap. Most of the beer is 3.2 but shot specials abound. The Copper Penny will get you glowing cheap- I think about 10 dollar pitchers of jack and coke, $2 beers and a whole list of other deals.

If you want to stay somewhere nice, stay at the Atherton. It's on OSU property and at the north end of the 6th street strip. Otherwise nothing is really close and there are few taxi's.

Afterhours (bars close at 2). Shortcakes for food is always a good bet. A few apartment complexes that always have something going (can't think of the name- and they always change) but they are behind the Best Buy/Lowes. Just walk around there and you will find something.

Tumbleweeds or as it's called locally Stumbleweed's is just out side of town and is a good sized honky tonk. They host the annual Calf Fry (testicles) festival and is a few days of non stop partying.

Day game: OSU campus only really. But the women are some of the friendliest in the world.

The town dies in the summer and Christmas break.
