I wouldn't go as far as to say texting is fucking up everything, but one thing I've noticed is that I do tend to use my phone as a "safe zone" when I'm out. If I get that little twinge of awkwardness when I'm out alone I would grab my phone and check something, anything to look busy. For a while I had to stop brining it with me or leave it in the car to break this habit.
I still catch myself trying to do it occasionally but 99% of the time I'll stop myself or I"ll just peak it out to check the time then put it back in my pocket.
