To put in my $0.02 on what I said before, after doing some research it seems there are only a few major body weight exercises, but almost infinite variations on them.
Pull ups, push ups, squats, and planks
Just moving your hands and arms and body position seems to create completely new and completely unique workouts that use different muscles.
Alot of advanced bodyweight exercises seem to incorporate plyometrics as well, doing a simple action (push-up or pull-up) but with such explosive force and speed that it lifts you up off the ground, and then repeating as quickly as possible till you're done.
